Will a 2000w Power Station run a Refrigerator?

I connect the Oukitel 2000w power station to the refrigerator to see if it will power it for a day without grid power.

What was the point of all of that? I thought you were going to test how long it would run the fridge for, but you threw in the towel early for no reason!

I have a Yeti300x and it ran my French door fridge just like yours for 4 days and that was normal use with kids. Then it takes my 6 hours to fully charge it. I also ran a larger upright freeze in my yard all summer off the yeti. I had a 400watt panel connected to it. If it was over cast for a few days, I would use a small gas generator to charge it.

Very nice stress test, that ought to keep your food from spoiling during a storm outage all by itself. Keeping that plug handy is a good idea for when you need to switch it over to your off-grid power inverter for longer outages.

I had been wanting to put that plug on the fridge for some time. this power station gave me a good opportunity. My off grid system should also allow this to run for a while when the grid is down.

I did a test once on my fridge (early 2000 model GE side-by-side) and the average power usage over about 60 hours was 110 watts per hour. That was with normal use, opening and closing the door, etc. At times the power draw was more, others less. Refrigerators (frost-free) have a "defrost cycle" where a heating element will defrost the internal cooling coil that ices up, usually once every 12 or so hours but it depends on the model (mine has a "dynamic defrost" where it uses sensors and calculations based on how often the door is opened etc). That will use more power. My 1000 watt pure sine inverter had no problem starting the compressor. I would use that as a guide, so a 2000 watt-hour battery would give you a little less than 20 hours on my fridge with 100% efficiency which we know is not the case. If there were sunny days and enough solar, the solar could charge the unit to 100% and run the fridge at the same time, so that only when dark it would need battery power. So solar maybe run and charge for 10 hours, the battery supplying power the rest of the time (14 hours).

Just testing the 2000w bluetti on the refrigerator. 10 hours is 50% battery. A 12v dc fridge can run for a nice long while in a power out situation.

Why manually re-plug? It’s got UPS. I’m planning on getting this for my long travels, plugging my freezer into it, then the oukitel to the wall. Power out, UPS kicks in. I’m thinking it’ll just revert to pass-through and recharge the battery. Am I wrong?

What you really have to watch with fridges and really anything that runs a pump/motor, is the inrush current needed to start the pump/motor. It can be many times more than then running current.

If 3.5 hours used up 25% of the capacity, then you can expect no more than about 14 hours of run-time. Since that was without the doors being opened at all, I would venture to say that 12 hours is a pretty optimistic number. It's sobering how much energy a given electronic appliance uses. Don't even look at electric water heaters! :) Building an extension battery, plugged into your "solar" input, would be a pretty easy thing to do, especially since this unit supports pass-through charging.

For sure! I have a meter i want to plug up to the fridge to see what it uses over time. 500w of solar outside should allow this to keep the fridge going most of the time. But with my off grid inverter I can charge this back up if I had too.

The question should not be how long this power station can run your fridge/freezer but rather how long this power station can run any inductive load like a fridge/freezer before it's irreparably damaged. With over 24 years of experience in the inverter repair industry, I know full well that the vast majority of low cost, lightweight, Chinese made, high frequency power stations on the market simply don't last. Especially when powering inductive loads like refrigerators, microwave, ovens, portable air conditioners, power tools, motors, washers and dryers. You may be able to start some of these loads when your high frequency solar generator is new, but over time, typically after less than a year of repeated use, the MOSFETs in your lightweight, high frequency solar generator WILL fail. They are simply not designed for powering inductive loads like refrigerators. If you want to power an inductive load like a refrigerator, you're far better off spending a little more money and buying a low frequency, transformer based solar generator instead. You'll be much happier in the end.

I'm doing a Freezer test on mine, I did a freezer Test on a 1260 power station about a month ago and I got 25 hrs. before running dry. I should get much more being this is 740 watts more so will see soon enough, I will get back with you on it. Right now I'm concern because it's been on for 12hrs now and is at 65% so I don't think by looking at this display it will pass my 25 hr. mark from my other station if this is the case then it's NOT a TRUE 2000 Watt station then !! It's looking doubtful.

My first comment is use your brain and take that Island out. If your kitchen is too small for one, don't have one. If I came out to service that frig, and had to access the back, I'd tell you that you have made it far more difficult to service, so you can call someone else. And I would leave. Second comment is NEVER use an extension cord to run a frig. You will damage your compressor.
