I've been looking for anything Slavic on wolves. My granfather,Opa, told me during WWII he was in Serbia walking late one night on a road by himself and an extremely large wold appeared before him in the road staring at him with red glowing eyes. He stopped and stayed still. The wolf just stared then vanished in front of him. What would that be that he saw?

Excellent video! I'm writing a series of short stories that take place a fantasy setting based on slavic myths and culture. I'm definitely going to check out your books.

Awesome video, you don’t see that many people talking about Slavic myth so this is quite refreshing. I have a Slavic story about werewolves but this could be more of a local one. I’m Serbian and my grandfather comes from a small village and obviously small villages and towns tend to have a few stories about the supernatural. In my grandfathers case he mentioned a similar element to the the witches transforming people into werewolves but in his case it was a thing done willingly by some men when they put on the fur of a wolf. He also said that if a man does this enough times he won’t need the fur anymore and will be able to change at will. That’s the short version of the story at least. Again might just be a local legend type of thing but there you have it.

@@brendannobleauthor3251 No prob, gramps filled my brain with these stories. Might as well share some. Just discovered your channel yesterday and now I can’t wait for the book to release, I think it’s gonna be amazing. I am a bit confused tough. Will the story take place in a fantasy world inspired by Slavic myth or will it be more of a historical fantasy taking place somewhere in our world?

@@nexkex7575 It will be in a fantasy world inspired by Slavic mythology. It's taking a lot from the 500 - 750 AD range in terms of development and technology.

Shared on page. :) There is much more about werewolves in Slavic mythology. Don't forget Neuri story. And children who were born with fused eyebrows or teeth.

Yeah, that fell under the "born as one" category, but good point. I don't want to make the videos *too* long so on one like this I had to be selective on which stories to go into.

@@brendannobleauthor3251 Yes I understand, it's just story of Neuri, where once upon time people turned themselves into wolves is unique for Slavic werewolves. Other characteristics are cross-culture and common to all European folks.
