i hardly will play mtga anymore now that school is going to start up again, but i still find it fun to watch Alex's commentary. his engaging and genuine personality, plus his way of making clear organization in his information, and his humility (eg admitting his own biases or acknowledging other people's contrasting ideas), and the personable and empathic way that he acknowledges all sorts of people (including beginners and casuals who aren't hardcore), make his podcasts entertaining for me to just listen to, even if i won't actually apply any of the information. i'm very happy that Alex gets to do this full time :)

First! Love the content Alex! I'm so excited for this format and eager to catch the streams.

During the prerelease, I had the feeling that stabilizing was more difficult than average in the set. The roles change the early board state quite often and will invalidate a lot of early blocks. I also experienced a lot more issues getting the right mix of lands than I usually do. It might just have been my sealed pools or the wrong side of variance, but my theory is that much of the card advantage in the set is based on adventure cards, but that isn't the same as seeing more cards.

Is it just me or does it seem like the art on the cursed and wicked roles got switched by accident? The one for cursed seems like it could work for either just fine, but I don't really think of wicked as a little toad. Usually the curse is that the prince is turned into a frog.

Surprised you didn't mention Grand Ball Guest in red. That is one of the best aggressive 2 drops we have seen in a long time IMO.

Finally!!

As someone who came back to MTG with Arena after a long absence (Mercadia block chased me off) and have not played with Delve, would the way Escape worked in Theros: Beyond Death be a reasonable substitute comparison? While listening I kept thinking that you could basically sub "Escape" for "Delve" and it sounded pretty close to my mental model when it came to considering how many/which Escape cards to put in a draft deck--if yes that could be a helpful way to conceptualize the mechanic for myself and newer or other recently returned players.

I feel it would be misleading. Delve cards are overpriced up front and cheaper after feeding the graveyard; escape are reasonably costed and gain value in the late after feeding the graveyard.

It's very contextual, are you on the play or the draw? What's your life total and how many attackers of they have? What else is in your hand? Oh, it's Ratcatcher? Nevermind you want to save that for 2 rats on turn 3 haha. With almost any other adventure I could see playing the creature early but yeah that card just wait literally one more turn and you get a little army.

You currently have Stab Wound listed in your Tier List as a C, but that card is messed up. It's gotta at least be a B, B+, right? Good flexibility and it can almost win a game on its own if you're a controlling deck and find the right opportunity. There are also a lot fewer sacrifice creature effects, so if you can put it on a creature that can't be bargained, you're in business.

I think red is by far the worst color. Made 4 traditional drafts today and totally smashed red decks with golgari and dimir

seems like red creatures are pretty bad, removals are ok but black is far stronger
