I remember in 1946 when my new brother-in-law Neal Schreiner came to visit us in Junction, Texas. I was 5 years old and very impressionable. He had a camera!!! That was a rare item then ...
I was amused when we went to the ranch that he kept asking Daddy to stop his brand new Ford F-Series pickup so he could photograph the wild flowers growing there in the lane of Highway 83 next to the famous Schreiner Y-O Ranch. (Unfortunately, he was no kin to them, but I do remember how mother's eyes sparkled when her daughter told her she was bringing a Schreiner boy home for us to meet).
Now, 77 years later, I'm still stopping my Ford F-150 on Texas roads to take videos of the beautiful wildflowers. As an avid birdwatcher, I will stop many times in a bird-watching trip to video wildflowers.
