Wilderness Without Wanting | Episode 4 | Land Without Borders

In this episode, Jack Beck uses a shepherd and his flock to shows us how sheep trust their leader to meet all their needs, even in a barren land.
ABOUT THIS SERIES:
“Wilderness is not just an ecosystem-it’s a season of life.” - Jack Beck
Some of the Bible’s most familiar and powerful stories took place in the wilderness. The Israelites spent forty years in the wilderness. Jesus fasted in the wilderness for forty days, before He was tempted by Satan. Even the beloved “Shepherd Psalm,” Psalm 23, may have been inspired by the wilderness. In fact, the wilderness is mentioned more than three hundred times in Scripture.
Now, host Jack Beck ("The Holy Land: Connecting The Land With It's Stories") highlights the easily-overlooked truths of the wilderness-both the harsh, threatening ecosystem in which Bible people sometimes found themselves and the difficult seasons of life in which we often operate. By showing what the wilderness meant to people in Bible times, Jack also provides guidance for our own experience in barren times and places.
In "Land without Borders", Jack Beck will lead you on a journey of discovery, using the Bible’s physical landscape to heighten your spiritual experience.

Dr. Beck really knows how to bring scripture to life and to show us what it really means. I've always known about this wonderful Psalm, but I never really understood it until I've seen it through his eyes. Thanks for being such a great teacher, Jack.

Thank you, Jack, once again, for putting the words of my Bible into geographic context! For some while, now, I have found myself "by the brook Cherith". There is the water of life in Christ, and the ravens provide my food, but there looks to be little else. But, like David, if I am still and remember God in this wilderness, then I, too, do not want. I walked at the Grand Canyon once. At first it seemed barren and empty, but after a day or two of persevering in walking around, I took joy in discovering all the many different living things and marveled at their ways of thriving in wilderness. Matching that with your videos of the Judaean wilderness helps me understand, just a little, what life in the land of my fathers, in the land of David and of Jesus, is like. Thank you for sharing your insights! Have a blessed day
