this is why i love hyenas and wild dogs...lions are great in their own way, but they're usually only interested in killing other predators that they can catch, not casually hanging around them

ustad qahraman except she kidnapped the jackal pups for herself and fending of their parent as well because she’s lonely wants to mother something.

"hey you, leave my little cousins alone". Impressive how submissive is the hyena's attitude towards the wild dog.

Wild dogs are almost extinct, and this one has found a familiar family in Jackals; for we/humans are slowly destroying everything meaningful to these great animals.

@@JeidelacruzUK They're not really near extinction but believe they're a protected species for good reason. Millions of them were exterminated in the past because they were a persistent threat to both humans and livestock. They roamed the continent in huge packs at one time...probably the most numerous and successful mammalian predator in indigenous regions. Precisely the reason they were nearly exterminated.

@philly caribbeanvibes ~ there is nothing like a hyena, but they are sort of closely related to mongoose, which are not canids at all either. It is very easy to check their evolutionary family tree

@philly caribbeanvibes ~ I didn't mean they can actually climb a tree! And yes they behave sorta like dogs but a hyena is not a dog in ANY way... they are from the subspecies Feliformia...the 'feli' bit meaning cat... they are their own species though - Hyaenidae there is simply nothing like a hyena...they are unfortunately very misunderstood and maligned and about 90% of info about them in the media etc. is false. They are actually very clever (studies have proven that they are up there with primates in intelligence, based on food puzzles 🤣 we all know how much they love their food!) The spotted hyena can be a huge animal too, the females up to 60+ kgs! They are capable of chowing down on a 3rd of their body weight! hahaha imagine pigging out on 15-20 kg of meat in one go 🤣
