Wildand Fire Dozer Operator: Spooner Rd Fire

8/12/23- Wildfire due to a spot fire over a firebreak during a site prep burn by a private landowner. Fire was contained to a 2.5 wet area.

    @@Wildland_Firefighter Do you know what species? Are they regarded as a worse fuel when fire gets into them? I presume you grow them for hardwood? Sorry, but this just interests me haha

    What if the soil itself becomes fuel for the fire. If a fire is particularly intense, the soil becomes the fuel. Gotta plow much deeper to stop really intense fires as we are learning the hard way in Alberta and BC

    The soil won't burn, but the organic matter within it would. You have to get to bare mineral soil to make sure the fire doesn't keep spreading
