I love the private train they had and the suits James West wore. I think his jacket is called a waist coat. They should bring that back in style. I also love the gadgets he had.

Actually, A waistcoat is what today is called a vest. The apparel that Mr. Conrad wore is called a 'Bolero Jacket.' And yes, he did look good in it. And the train they travelled in was called 'The Wanderer.' I think it was also the first show that really was "Steampunk!" Glad you are a fan of the show!

You can get the ensemble if you look online for less than $1000, but the hat will set you back about $400, but made just for you in England. I was considering one (hat) before I saw the price of them. I have one similar and did buy a short leather jacket about that length; what a coincidence.

@floridaredneck I saw that blue corduroy jacket with the black leather shawl collar and black leather cuffs at the end of the jacket sleeves. Robert Conrad wore that with the black leather riding chaps. It was on EBay. I always wanted that jacket, and it was ebay, and it was my size. But the price they were asking was like 1,500 or 1,800. I think there was a bid that started at 1,500 buy you could by it for 1,800. That was too rich for my blood, and this was many years ago. If I had the money, I would have bought. It was just a lot of money for me back then. Who ever made it did a great job it was the exact same one Robert Conrad wore in the show. It was a great replica. You couldn't tell the difference. I still would love to get one or get one made.

It was DePatie-Freleng who did the credit openings to CBS's "THE WILD, WILD, WEST", and David H DePatie & Friz Freleng, producers of Mirisch/United Artists "THE PINK PANTHER" cartoon shorts in the 1960s also did the credit openings to NBC's "I DREAM OF JEANNIE" series too! but Robert Conrad's mixed fighting skills almost made this guy a martial arts master with his kicks and hand/elbow strikes, showing his top physical athletic form, especially since he took his boxing skills very seriously, and it was such a treat to watch him in action as "James West", the 007 of the American West, while Robert Culp from NBC's "I SPY" series took his Kenpo martial arts training by Kenpo grandmaster Ed Parker, who appeared in two episodes of that TV series. but while "THE WILD, WILD, WEST" was dominating Friday nights on CBS in Fall 1966, ABC's "THE GREEN HORNET" series with Van Williams and Bruce Lee also attempted to dominate Fridays just before "THE TIME TUNNEL", and watching Bruce Lee as "Kato" kung-fu-ing the bad guys in a mere half-hour, I often wondered if he and Robert Conrad would've made great sparring partners, knowing that he'd still get defeated by Lee's skills, I am still convinced that Robert Conrad would still a good match for Bruce Lee, but as I said, Lee would have a faster advantage with his kung fu skills. In fact, an early episode of "THE WILD, WILD, WEST" called "The Night Of The Dancing Death" had guest star Peter Mark Richmond playing an Albanian prince skilled in the art of "gung fu", and the fight scenes between him and West were not bad-slightly unbelievable, but not bad! ironically, Peter Mark Richmond actually worked with Bruce Lee in a 1971 episode of ABC-TV's "LONGSTREET" series. rest in peace, Robert Conrad- because you were indeed an original, and the best!!

Robert Conrad should go down in history as the world's hardest working actor. He worked out constantly. The story goes he had a punching bag on set and his own set of stunt men. He got injured pretty bad once; he almost broke his neck or his back (?). They could never bring this back. Hollywood can't do anything. There's no talent, no brains, no imagination and no courage.

I don't know how else to say this but the real star of this video was the train. 4-4-0 American type, baggage car, & passenger car. What a way to travel. But seriously they may need another baggage car or a coach in the consist baggage car for the horses maybe a backboard and a 3rd car for Arties disguises. Just my opinion. Have a great day everyone.

He was a professional boxer, tough guy, and German actor who later appeared in Bruce Willis' Die Hard as one of the terrorists. He was most famous for being Vigo the Carpathian in Ghostbusters II when he stepped down out of the painting (probably influenced by Mario Bava's 1960 horror film "Black Sunday") to claim Sigourney Weaver's baby.

Throughout the comment section below here people would mention about how often Conrad would use kicks and elbows strikes to mimic martial arts. Actually it was my understanding that Conrad use to take private lessons from Kenpo master Ed Parker. This style would emphasize elbow strikes and short front kicks. Conrad would especially display most of the Mixed Asian martial arts style during the first season where as by the third and fourth season he would primarily revert back to his basic boxing skills. Prior to his acting days he was also a boxer ( fly weight I believe).

That the film didn't even have the exciting spirit of the TV series & the magic between Conrad & Martin. But I do agree with you -- a true fan just ignores the existence of that...abomination. (Good word) There was a story that Robert Conrad even offered to make a cameo in the film but was told "no" by the producers. They wanted to make the new film their own interpretation. Even their Artemus didn't have the comradeship with West that the TV series had. Right there, I was pissed off.

I wish they would try it again with a different actor & closer to the original TV series. Will Smith publicly apologized to Robert Conrad 10 years later in 2009. He said more or less that he was young and dumb, and that he finally “got it” when it was proposed to him to consider what he’d think if someone did that type of abomination to Fresh Prince 30 years later. He said he then understood why Conrad was so pissed. It’s toward the wayyy end of the WWW Wikipedia. R.I.P. Mr. Conrad, one of my earliest heroes.

Once again we see the LIGHT GREY suit worn by BOB CONRAD in only a few episodes but ther was a story I read that there was also a POWDER BLUE (pale blue) suit also as in other episodes as it does look bluish but when watching on the tv or cellphone you just can,t tell if it is the lighting shown during the actual filming of the episode or there really is a POWDER BLUE and a LIGHT GREY suit!Then again:WHO CARES?? (only me i guess)

Robert Conrad had a 29 win, 2 loss, 1 draw record as an amateur boxer. As a pro, he went 4-0-1. He also practiced a hybrid martial art from Hawaii called KAJUKENBO... a combination of KArate, JUdo & JUjutsu, KEnpo, and BOxing, with a little kung-fu & eskrima mixed in. This early type of MMA was developed in the late 1940s. I think Jim West was demonstrating kajukenbo to Artemus Gordon in the last scene of this video.

Actually, A waistcoat is what today is called a vest. The apparel that Mr. Conrad wore is called a 'Bolero Jacket.' And yes, he did look good in it. And the train they travelled in was called 'The Wanderer.' I think it was also the first show that really was "Steampunk!" Glad you are a fan of the show!

You can get the ensemble if you look online for less than $1000, but the hat will set you back about $400, but made just for you in England. I was considering one (hat) before I saw the price of them. I have one similar and did buy a short leather jacket about that length; what a coincidence.

@floridaredneck I saw that blue corduroy jacket with the black leather shawl collar and black leather cuffs at the end of the jacket sleeves. Robert Conrad wore that with the black leather riding chaps. It was on EBay. I always wanted that jacket, and it was ebay, and it was my size. But the price they were asking was like 1,500 or 1,800. I think there was a bid that started at 1,500 buy you could by it for 1,800. That was too rich for my blood, and this was many years ago. If I had the money, I would have bought. It was just a lot of money for me back then. Who ever made it did a great job it was the exact same one Robert Conrad wore in the show. It was a great replica. You couldn't tell the difference. I still would love to get one or get one made.
I loved the fight scenes in "Wild Wild West", especially when Jim West had to fight several bad guys at once! Rest In Peace Robert Conrad.

Robert Conrad and Ross Martin were two inspirational names, by whom, me and my daddy used to watch every Wednesday nights on Record TV Network (Brazil) in the ides of 1982 / 83 / 84 and 85. Good times which I miss so much!

It was DePatie-Freleng who did the credit openings to CBS's "THE WILD, WILD, WEST", and David H DePatie & Friz Freleng, producers of Mirisch/United Artists "THE PINK PANTHER" cartoon shorts in the 1960s also did the credit openings to NBC's "I DREAM OF JEANNIE" series too! but Robert Conrad's mixed fighting skills almost made this guy a martial arts master with his kicks and hand/elbow strikes, showing his top physical athletic form, especially since he took his boxing skills very seriously, and it was such a treat to watch him in action as "James West", the 007 of the American West, while Robert Culp from NBC's "I SPY" series took his Kenpo martial arts training by Kenpo grandmaster Ed Parker, who appeared in two episodes of that TV series. but while "THE WILD, WILD, WEST" was dominating Friday nights on CBS in Fall 1966, ABC's "THE GREEN HORNET" series with Van Williams and Bruce Lee also attempted to dominate Fridays just before "THE TIME TUNNEL", and watching Bruce Lee as "Kato" kung-fu-ing the bad guys in a mere half-hour, I often wondered if he and Robert Conrad would've made great sparring partners, knowing that he'd still get defeated by Lee's skills, I am still convinced that Robert Conrad would still a good match for Bruce Lee, but as I said, Lee would have a faster advantage with his kung fu skills. In fact, an early episode of "THE WILD, WILD, WEST" called "The Night Of The Dancing Death" had guest star Peter Mark Richmond playing an Albanian prince skilled in the art of "gung fu", and the fight scenes between him and West were not bad-slightly unbelievable, but not bad! ironically, Peter Mark Richmond actually worked with Bruce Lee in a 1971 episode of ABC-TV's "LONGSTREET" series. rest in peace, Robert Conrad- because you were indeed an original, and the best!!

Robert Conrad should go down in history as the world's hardest working actor. He worked out constantly. The story goes he had a punching bag on set and his own set of stunt men. He got injured pretty bad once; he almost broke his neck or his back (?). They could never bring this back. Hollywood can't do anything. There's no talent, no brains, no imagination and no courage.

I don't know how else to say this but the real star of this video was the train. 4-4-0 American type, baggage car, & passenger car. What a way to travel. RC patterned his movements after Japanese Toshiro Mifune. He had a way of moving on screen that you couldnt take your eyes off him.
Trivia: The fit & trim good looking but chiseled, dark-suited blond "boxer" /bodyguard James West fights at the creepy mansion is actor Norbert Grupe (real name Wilhelm von Homburg). He was a professional boxer, tough guy, and German actor who later appeared in Bruce Willis' Die Hard as one of the terrorists. He was most famous for being Vigo the Carpathian in Ghostbusters II when he stepped down out of the painting (probably influenced by Mario Bava's 1960 horror film "Black Sunday") to claim Sigourney Weaver's baby.
Nobody can move on camera like Robert Conrad did.

Just a year before Star Trek came on... I remember it being on Friday... ? I would come home from an exhausting week of school and work and enjoying this show. Got me through at least 3 yrs of work and school without even one day, off. I'm ordering it from Amazon. Funny ... I just want entertainment.
R.C. was in good shape for sure. Glad I got to speak with him a few years back on his Radio Show.

Throughout the comment section below here people would mention about how often Conrad would use kicks and elbows strikes to mimic martial arts. Actually it was my understanding that Conrad use to take private lessons from Kenpo master Ed Parker. This style would emphasize elbow strikes and short front kicks. Conrad would especially display most of the Mixed Asian martial arts style during the first season where as by the third and fourth season he would primarily revert back to his basic boxing skills. Prior to his acting days he was also a boxer ( fly weight I believe).

That the film didn't even have the exciting spirit of the TV series & the magic between Conrad & Martin. But I do agree with you -- a true fan just ignores the existence of that...abomination. (Good word) There was a story that Robert Conrad even offered to make a cameo in the film but was told "no" by the producers. They wanted to make the new film their own interpretation. Even their Artemus didn't have the comradeship with West that the TV series had. Right there, I was pissed off.

@Chris Raynor - And that alone Chris killed that franchise. The Wild, Wild West, could've been a great series of films like Star Trek & Mission: Impossible. I wish they would try it again with a different actor & closer to the original TV series. I'm still waiting for DC Comics Metal Men to be made into a film -- talk about a comic book with great special effects -- that would be incredible.

Will Smith publicly apologized to Robert Conrad 10 years later in 2009. He said more or less that he was young and dumb, and that he finally “got it” when it was proposed to him to consider what he’d think if someone did that type of abomination to Fresh Prince 30 years later. He said he then understood why Conrad was so pissed. It’s toward the wayyy end of the WWW Wikipedia. R.I.P. Mr. Conrad, one of my earliest heroes.

Once again we see the LIGHT GREY suit worn by BOB CONRAD in only a few episodes but ther was a story I read that there was also a POWDER BLUE (pale blue) suit also as in other episodes as it does look bluish but when watching on the tv or cellphone you just can,t tell if it is the lighting shown during the actual filming of the episode or there really is a POWDER BLUE and a LIGHT GREY suit!Then again:WHO CARES?? (only me i guess)

@chris Barnett I just watched an interview with him and that was one of the questions. He STRONLY hinted that he didn't like the movie because it portrayed the WWW in too goofy of a way, it was stupid. He never said anything about disliking it because Will Smith is black. You just pulled that out of your a**.
