I had a photo in a cook book where two men were harvesting wild rice with a boat. It looked very nice.

Very cool :D I knew that wild rice can be "bloomed" by putting it in a dehydrator at an appropriate temperature for about a day, so it makes sense that this way would work, too :)! Thank you foir sharing

OK, I am totally doing this. Brilliant! Also, it would make more sense for me to make this in the morning in order to have it ready for dinner. But I can totally see making a lovely breakfast cereal out of this, too!

Any thoughts of doing some low fodmap recipes? Some of us have to avoid tomatoes, onion, and garlic.

Ques about peanut butter: when I open the jar, there is a lot of oil floating on the top, which I usually just stir together with the thick peanut butter underneath. But would it be better for me to pour out most or all of the oil and try to use the peanut butter w/o the oil, maybe mixed with some water to soften it? (in order to have less saturated fat in the peanut butter we use?) thank u! Barbara Montes

Isn’t there a risk of bacterial growth leaving warm wet rice sitting in a warm oven overnight? I’d be too afraid of getting food poisoning.

I do it overnight always. It works. No food poisoning. I set my dish in the oven that it a metal one with lid. Rice and water measured in set oven to 500 . When it reaches 500 shut it off and go to bed. Perfect in the morning.

The extreme temperature kills anything bad. Since the lid is not removed, nothing else bad can enter. It’s actually way safer than sprouting seeds, fermenting cabbage, or making sourdough bread

Didn’t you hear the point about them heating it in the oven first? That would kill any microbes in it. Rewatch the video, they do talk about turning the oven on and heating it up.

They start with boiling vegetable broth as well, then it’s in a 500° oven for 10 minutes. What kind of bacteria are you thinking about cons survive that? I’m very curious lol

Well this is crazy! People often get very sick leaving cooked rice in a rice cooker overnight - wonder why fhis way it is ok without bacteria growth.

BE VERY CAREFUL with all rice and the arsenic problem! There is a protocol for 24 for brown rice, Lindstrom's wild rice is a little different, but ALL of them have a protocol to help clean the arsenic. Soak, rise, soak, rise, boil 10 min, rinse, etc. Look all of it up.

This comment does not pertain to this video exactly, however as a WFPB person myself along with the Esselstyns, it may. The migrants are using the crop fields in Arizona and Tx., that produce 90% of our green leafy vegetables, as a place to defecate and urinate. It has been a problem in the past also, however currently it is exponentially worse. I think that it is important to be aware of because people can get seriously ill from other peoples poop and pee, to put it in layman's terms.
