Wild steppes of Europe/Asia border and Przewalski’s horses | Orenburg, Russia

Orenburg isn’t a popular place to visit in Russia but in vain. It’s one of the country's biggest regions which contains masses of preserved corners of pristine nature, the Ural Mountains, salt lakes, the spirit of the ancient history of the tribes and endless steppes with the world’s last preserved wild horses named Przewalski's. Przewalski's horse is the last species of truly wild horse left on Earth. It was discovered in 1879 by a famous Russian traveler and geographer Nikolai Przewalsky in Central Asia. The species almost died out completely twice in history but now the horses are revived in the centers of reintroduction like Orenburg nature reserve. So far in Russia, this center of reintroduction of Przewalski horses is the only one.

@@ElifromRussia I love watching your travel KZread videos. This one reminds me of a wild horse preserve on Cape Sable Island , in Nova Scotia, Canada. There is a research station there and not much else. The island in fact is a huge sand bar with a lot of beaches grass there for grazing. At one time you could visit but obviously a permit requirement. One side of this island has a huge ship’s graveyard. Many old sailing ships getting caught in bad weather went aground. They may have opened it up to more visitors now.

What a joy it must have been to come across that huge harem of truly wild horses! I'm from Virginia, US, and I remember the thrill I felt coming across wild horses in the state park at Chincoteague, but they were descendants of domesticated horses. As you so often do, you've also shown us a delightful domestic atmosphere and more intriguing examples of Russian cuisine. I also love the way that you ended the video, unconventionally for you--instead of cheerfully summing things up and then saying goodbye, you fade silently into the distance with some text on the screen. It felt so appropriate for this video about a wild, wide open land. Great music choices, too, and I loved that mouth harp. I hope you enjoyed your whole two weeks there!

The officer took the bear to england and left it at the London Zoo while he served in France during the 1st WW. The writer of Winnie-the-Pooh was English and his son (Christopher Robin) saw the "Canadian" bear at the London Zoo. Disney purchased the rights to the story from the author's estate.

The Russian Winnie the Pooh is very interesting. I so enjoyed the wild horses. Your music selections are great. Here in Idaho,USA we have horses that roam free too. And they're magnificent to go visit, they always put on a big show.

Wow, another marvelous video! You take us to places in the world that most people don't know exist. Those aerial shots were amazing! I commend those people working in that remote area for helping to preserve a species of horse. Hopefully they'll get other horses there as well. And again, Eli, your video was nicely edited with just the right amount of music and effects and different points of view. Also, you wisely keep your videos under half an hour. It takes a lot of time and work to do all of that. This is why you remain my favorite vlogger and channel on KZread.

Agree. Never mind that Eli is a very engaging and attractive presenter, she appears to do the editing by herself. Some of the mixing of music and images, as well and the dramatic shots, is as good as any BBC nature documentary. I suggest a collab between Eli and Attenborough!

A great video I can really relate to, Elina. Thanks for all the traveling you do, bringing Russia to us who cannot see it with their own eyes at this time.
