There are longhorn cattle up there too. You are right about Mt Rogers-a little anti-climatic with no view. But there is a metal USGS marker on a Boulder at the actual summit. The highlands area is magical with enough trails to keep you occupied for many days. But plan carefully-weather is fickle

Great camera work, the flow of your B-roll with your main shots as well as the mixed in audio with B-roll is just great, one of your best edits. All the different camera angles really adds interest too. Your sweet enthusiast attitude is the icing on the cake. Really gives us the feel of being there with you. I would Ken Burns the stills and we'd never know they were stills. . . I hang out with "ponies" often, quite a different sort of WILD though, LOL. Nice job. . . @@AliceFordAdventures Easier seen then said, kzread.info/dash/bejne/dqaOlM-ifs6pZbA.html My editor, Davinci Resolve has a "dynamic effect" function that make it way easier but I often use key frames in my movement with stills or video anyway so points of interest line up from one shot/clip to the next. Getting more complex, the viewer's eye does not want to search around a new clip looking for the point of interest. If you can pace points of interest in the same place on frames in two adjacent clips the viewer's eye is already looking at the intended subject when one clip ends and the next begins. Maybe you noticed in my Kelso Ridge video how in a few transitions around the summit one clip literally bled into the next. . . Feels so smooth and seamless, you never notice on pro stuff because it feels so right . . .I used to hate editing, well learning while editing my videos but now that I know lots of the editor's functions it is super fun and cool. I can turn crapola into not bad, LOL I went a bit overboard with this one kzread.info/dash/bejne/iHV8ts6GeLm-gso.html it goes so far as leading the viewers eyes to the next scene in the next clip, I was trying to make it a continue "journey" but still having cuts. I'd be most stoked if you checked this one out, kzread.info/dash/bejne/c4WjmNmjpdTKZ5fF.html highlight reel of one of my super gnar adventures! The views from Grayson Highlands are fabulous. I've been there at least 100 times. I'm sorry nobody explained that the splendor of this hike is not the summit of Mt Rogers, but it is a wonderful destination because of the virgin forrest (at least thats what I've been told). Reflect back to the feeling you had within the old growth forrest and I think you will find a slightly different conclusion to the hike.

@@AliceFordAdventures I think the humidity makes it feel colder. So for a recommendation for hiking in Virginia, you can't go wrong with Shenandoah national park. Over 500 miles of trails/fire roads. It get crowded in the fall, but there's plenty of places to lose the crowds :)

Yes, the summit is a let-down; but the trail there has some great views. Next time hike Cabin Creek Trail to a 3-prong waterfall with little water crossings. Lewis Fork Trail that has a portion following the Creek. When I hike there I stay at Bear Tree Campground in Damascus VA. More secluded with rhododendrons. If you don't want to cook, Damascus has some awesome food.

I am from Chesterfield, Virginia..Near where Pocahontas lived, close to the James River..I live in Texas now, and my Daughter LOVES horses..I really want to take a trip here, so we can hike to see the ponies! We have a mini horse named Muffin, so I know how they love to chase and bite lol. The closest mountains to us now, are the Ouachita Mountains in Oklahoma..We love to travel to Beavers Bend State Park in Oklahoma to hike etc. bc it's only 6 hours away. We are planning to take a trip to Leadville, Colorado in the Fall, to ride the 3 & 1/2 hour train ride around the mountains (bc my son loves trains lol). I love your channel!
