Wild Goshawk Nest

Спорт

Wild Goshawk nest in England with three chicks that are branching.
Timeframe:
0:25 - Single juvenile
0:56 - Single juvenile calling to parents
1:09 - Adult female
1:16 - Adult female calling
2:04 - 3 chicks visible on nest
Camera footage isn't the best due to low light conditions in the forest and no tripod. I've been wanting to see this in the wild for years! Absolutely chuffed I finally got to experience it.
I was wearing full camouflage with headscarf, sweating and being eaten alive by midges. I was only in position for a short while so I didn't disturb the nest.

Reptile Guy Thanks. Their numbers are low, plus they are very elusive. I was very happy to get this video and spend a little time with them.

Thanks. You'll be pleased to know they nested in exactly the same place this year and raised 4 chicks.

What are you filming this on? I have also been very fortunate to see some great action this year but haven't got very good camera to record with.

How many goshawk nests do you think there are now in the United Kingdom? I know in the seventies, they were quite scarce. OSH :-)

There are definitely more than people think but you don't see them in the wild very much nowadays.

@@hawkinsfalconry One more question Nigel, if you don't mind. I also read that the Goshawks in Great Britain sometimes nest in a single tree in a open field. Similar to Red-tailed Hawks nests here in the states. Is that true? OSH :-)

old school hawking The few that I’ve seen have been tucked away in dense secretive forests that are well off the beaten track. Very stealthy & secretive birds. Like Bodio once said, “they are everywhere but you just don’t see them”
