It's rear half was already shredded, plus it may have miscalculated the intensity of the landing after the leap. Climbing at less than full strength would have fully exposed the already injured parts of its body. There was a good chance the dogs would have continually dragged it back down.

The leopard wasn't fast enough for the furious dogs.

Wild Dogs are by far the best and most efficient hunters. With a kill rate of around 70% not even Lions can match that at 30%. They work masterfully together and can out run and outlast almost any prey.

Those wild dogs are relentless! Their harassment technique is next level even the cat didn't know where the next bite was coming from.

Wild dogs are honestly the scariest thing out there. They are just relentless and a whole lot of endurance. Amazing creatures.

I really got scared for the leopard there. Not that the dogs don't have my sympathy after losing one of their pups, but I legitimately thought for certain the pack was gonna rip the leopard's insides out just like they do to their prey.

@@ashdog236 yes it does. The fact he only got away with some cuts while being bitten over and over by a pack of wild dogs exactly shows how strong the hide is. I never said it was indestructible, it said it was thick, but thick can also be destroyed. It took them a ton of bites to get those cuts. Meanwhile if they attacked an antelope like this, you would already see its intestines coming out.

Leopard must've injured itself by jumping from tree awkwardly. It sustained a lot of bites. Lucky it got away.

​@@remyogun8270 highly feasible. One of my domestic cats has twice been bitten in cat fights and twice had to go to the vet due to the onset of infection. I would surmise these wild animals have for nastier stuff in their mouths than your average domestic cat. It's whether the leopard can produce enough natural antibodies to fight it off, or if it will need human intervention to be given antibiotics.

One of the rare cases where it’s actually hard to subconsciously root for either animal. Love both and I get the dogs wanting revenge and the desperation of the leopard escaping. This rly felt like how nature should: a brutal display of ur favorite animals killing each other, no good guy or bad :/

I like cats, but they're very stupid. I've seen so many cats get mauled when sitting up in a tree or fence post with dogs barking at it. They always jump off the post INTO the dog's yard and try to run, then get torn to shreds

Little small bits get infected your pretty much dead. These dog's knew only to inflict damage not out right kill it. These dog's are brutal. There is a fine line between bravery and stupidity. The leopard was never across bravery in this encounter.

Wild dogs are the best hunters in all of Africa they have the highest success rate of any animal

That leopard was lucky it wasn't a bigger pack because, then the question would be if they would've ripped it to shreds.

@@euxhenjo1146 something I’ve realised about Leopards is they aren’t very smart, often jumping out of trees to confront groups of Lioness (suicidal) and African geographic website has a story with photos of a male leopard who killed a Hyena cub and took it up a tree, it then stupidly jumped out of the tree to confront the 2 Hyena mothers at the bottom who then proceeded to eat him alive in front of the safari vehicle, photos are on African geographic with the story if you wanna read it (KZread doesn’t let you link outside websites) but yeah my point is, Leopards aren’t the brightest tools in the shed

Kenneth Anderson had mentioned rightly that animals too exhibit a streak of ego and they are full of it in their prime. This male leopard seems no exception when inspite of being in the safety of the tree high above, he deliberately chose to pounce on one of the wild dogs with vengence.

The moral of this story is. You'll die a slow painful death due to lack of hunting caused by dogs bite. That leopard died a horrible death. They knew exactly what they were doing... it lost it's life for a pup. Not very good odds. That leopard is dead!

@@floridacracker_ exactly,when it stood up thete was no evidence of any injuries to its legs and it was walking without a limp.leopard thought it was bullet proof, should have stayrd up the tree.

@@gregjacka6994lots of animals can move just fine when they’re pumped full of adrenaline. Once that wears off the leopard’s gonna crash hard.

@@andrewcrowley6331 don't disagree with you, but there was only 3 decent strikes, the others were fleeting nips, the bite force of the dogs are less than half of a lion and s 3rd of a hyena, and it out ran the dogs who are quicker ,and also pumped up on adrenaline, having seen worse attacks by lionesses snd hyenas and the leopard escaped without major injuries, i stick by my opinion it got off lightly.

​@Florida cracker something called adrenaline. Once that wears off it'll be feeling the full extent of the injuries. The dogs are smart, giving the leopard a slow and painful death from not being able to hunt. A fitting death...

This all happens just because of the lose of habitat to humans. Animals have to fight for small patches of land.

Lions , wild dogs , hyenas , Baboons . Those are the Leopards archi enemies.

Leopard was bleeding all over, probably was picked off a while after or they found him again without humans around.

I reckon maybe the leopard was inexperienced but is my first time seeing these two animals interact, wild dogs are very dangerous as a pack.

Usually I root for the cats in these struggles in the wild against dogs . But this time I was on the dogs side .

Leopard sure was stubborn.

Those dogs sound like if ants had a voice box.

Painted wolves are fiercely loyal to each other so it’s no surprise that they would bravely attack the leopard for killing one of their pups.

All dog's come from wolf's .wild dog's are considered wolf's. Single hunters die sooner than more successful pack hunters. Making the leopard a weaker species. These are Facts found in Nature. Not my goofy fanboy opinions.

I feel like people underestimate wild dogs, they're extremely agile and have amazing coordination. I feel like in almost any circumstance where its a pack vs almost any lone predator but a lion they'd win.

@@jedidah838 show the proof, I've watched a video on KZread of a female Lion defend her cub against a large pack of wild dogs and held her own , and save the cub.. both were just fine... let alone against a male lion.

Looks like a young male who’s just started out on his own! A full grown male would have been more of a danger to the dogs! I love both cats and dogs, but cats are the stronger predator!

Yep a young male one who is also not smart

inexperienced leopard , he hurt himself from falling of tree and there is no defence mechanism while fighting

Leopard learnt a life lesson here !! Kids are of limits

I've heard zookeeper say that African Painted Dogs are the most dangerous animals they care for. They bite very hard, they work as a team and they are very intelligent.

"Wild dogs get revenge." NO THEY DIDN'T. LEOPARD ESCAPED. 🙄

That Leopard very likely can't hunt, got infected and or picked off by hyenas, other dogs, later by the same dogs, or starved to death.

Can you guys for the love of GOD keep the jeeps at least 40m from the animals? Calling yourselves wildlife lovers/protectors and then influencing their behaviour by parking multiple jeeps next to these animals is hypocritical beyond belief.

Do they care about the jeeps? Not at all. Look at some of the other videos they really do not care, it’s like a fly on your window. The just stop and observe.

How do we know the titles are correct? The leopard could have also hurt his back jumping from so high! The edit always questions some of this.

Fascinating encounter. But this has nothing to do with “revenge”; wild dogs would have acted the same towards leopard irrespective of the death of their puppy.

My thoughts exactly. I don't think the pic of the pup at the start had anything to do with the encounter. It's like one of those old anthropomorphic Disney shows where there would have to be a "story" going on.

How do you know that? Don't apply rational thought here. Since revenge is in the sphere of irrationality and madness your point is not valid.

I thought he was done for. Think he's not gonna survive the injuries though. I suppose it's better than getting shredded apart since even if the probability seems small, he has another chance at life.

Leopard's have a crappy kill rate. Only 38% kil rate. You have a 68% you'll live. Lol. Dog's 85% kil rate. When a dog hunts you your pretty much dead. Cats not so much. They fail 68% of the time!!! Your funny guy.
