The only calamity/mistake I saw was forgetting the fajita seasoning. You do make your camps seem effortless but most of us know it’s anything but that.

I had a pretty similar one last week albeit slightly worse. In the end everything turned out OK and on the surface it probably looked from the outside that nothing went wrong but inside you're keeping score of everything that's not going to plan and when it starts to get dark and its windy and raining and you still haven't pitched it can feel like you're on a survival exercise rather than camping lol

Adversity is so paradoxical when wild camping. On the one hand, it can put a bit of a downer on the adventure. But at the same time, when you conquer the elements, you feel like you’ve accomplished something and become stronger for it 💪🏻 That’s why we always say “It all adds to the adventure” 🤙🏻 Great video as always Paul! Hope to see you in the hills one day 🙏🏻💙

I've done a handful of nighttime with light rain setups and after you've done a few you come away stronger and wonder what all the worry was all about, as long as you've got light and make haste it's great life skill to add to your arsenal.

No bad experiences when camping, just lessons to be learned. Ya should try camping in Ireland... It's non-stop rain.. All my tents, (all three of them) are outter pitch first for that reason and I always have a light tarp. That's only useful if there's no wind though.

I remember my years of an inner pitch first tent, my wife and I got very good at threading the poles with the fly held over the inner when it was raining. But now that I walk solo more of the time, I am far happier with an all-in-one pitch. In my limited experience the inner is only saggy on (all in one) tunnel tents not domes and geodesics. So you can have your cake and eat it (even without the spice mix...)

Really a good job filming that hike to your camping place. How you can hold the camera out away from you and negotiate those odd, off-balance (and water covered) steps must take a while to master. And the tent looks like a Terra Nova Voyager... One of my favorite tents. A good, challenging night out. Thank you, Paul.

But at east there was a pub withing walking distance, so every cloud etc :) I can't wait to get out wild camping again, but I have a new little tent so I'll wait for better weather I reckon before testing it out :) I've loved Ringing Roger since I first went there on a geography field trip with school in the early 1970s!

Your pitch reminds me of when I walked the Cleveland Way. One night I pitched on the moors after dark and I walked around an area of grass and chose the patch which didn't squelch when I trod on it (It was hard to see the profile of the land by torchlight) and after a night of heavy rain, I woke in the morning happily and beautifully pitched on an island. I'd highly comment the inland section of the Cleveland Way. The effort to reward ratio is very high.

Happy new year. That tent looks very decent, sturdy structure design (looks pretty similar to a Hilly Jannu), spacious and indeed minimal flappy inner. Inner-first setup isn't necessarily a deal-breaker, used an UL 'inner first' for years. Did need a microfiber cloth occasionally (and a bit of verbal ventilation in very bad weather). Beautiful pitch up there with a gorgeous little sunrise to start the day/new year.

It a nice looking tent Paul and i was surprised how light it was for the number of poles it has. Using it on overnighters seems like a good idea as if the inner gets wet it only one night and you can then dry it out. I dont think i would trust it on a long distance hike though as you can guarantee one thing in the UK... it will rain. Thanks again for the content, i genuinely love the stuff you look at so we all can get an idea of the merits of the kit you test. Keep up the good work mate.

I've used my mates voyager super light loads of times, it has clips instead of the sleeves of the standard voyager, it's really quick to set up and there's a dwr on the inner. You and I both mate lol I went out last week heading from New Mills over to snake woodland, but catastrophically underestimated conditions. I ended up cut off by streams that had become rivers and was up and down 300m of elevation to try and find a way around. Eventually turned back towards kinder reservoir and ended up pitching in the rain and dark after being turned away from the lodge and told I couldn't use the road to go back to Hayfield by the lovely woman there. She would have been happy for me to die out on the moors rather than open the floodgates for the apparent masses of hikers that must turn up on their doorstep 😅 lovely woman she was "If I let you through everyone will want to go through"🙄

Use the low-down base in subzero so you can invert the canister.
