Hi Paul I just wanted to say thank you , I’ve been going through a bit of a rough patch (nothing compared to other people’s problems ) but your videos have really helped me they are like my meditation and let me forget about everything else that’s going on. They have also inspired me to go wild camping for my self so thank you so much Best regards Sacha 👍

Almost got ptsd watching this one. I remember arriving at Inversnaid Hotel thinking "Beinglass can't be that far off now". Boy was I wrong! The constant up and down scrambling with a heavy pack really put's you through the ringer. Great video!

I know exactly what you mean. On top of an already hard day, that last section, although beautiful, goes on forever. I was with my wife and 13-year-old son. I remember talking to one guy at Inversnaid Hotel who said he didn't think the next stretch would be too bad and that we had already done the hardest part. We met up with him in the bar at Beinglas campsite and he came over looking guilty and apologised.

Having lived in the Highlands and walked through its wilderness many miles I really appreciate you taking me back there in your vlogs. It seems that everyone I follow is doing the WHW this year but each person brings their own personal perspective to the trail. I walked it years ago before it was so popular.

I've got to smile every time you talk about it being remote. From my perspective as a Scot, I avoid the WHW area because it's too busy and close to civilisation! I'm off to Knoydart next week, now that's remote! Glad you are enjoying the hike.

That first day looked rocky indeed, and that really does sap energy and drain you mentally, as you have to focus so much on foot placement. But boy that second day was gorgeous. Oh yes the stretch from the inversnaid hotel to the end of the Loch, there is a little beach at the end I named paradise beach as that is by far the hardest walking I’ve ever done. Didn’t know there was a campsite at Glencoe mountain resort. Wonderful scenes Paul.

I completed the WHW a week before you, I done it the same week as Mandy from KZread done it in 5. This was my 2nd time, 1st time 8 day's and this year 7. Even on the 2nd whw at a similar time of year as the 1st, I was amazed at how much I missed. The bits you didn't record especially round Lomond was just as well, you forget them so you do it again, but it all comes back when your blowing out of your ass! You have presented a realistic representation of how it is, sweat & all ! Looking forward to part 3, I hiked around 20miles on the 1st day & pitched up on conic hill, that was less gruelling than that climb out of Kinlochleven, but a visualisation of that beer at the Black Isle Bar keeps you motivated!

Hey Paul, I did this section with my wife and 13-year-old son in 2020 (covid year, not that we could forget that!). We had a nice evening at Sallocky Bay campsite, but a proper storm rolled in later that night. We sheltered at the Rowardennan Hotel for the next night until the storm passed and carried on the following day when the weather had cleared. We made it to Beinglas campsite but the midges OMG!!. After the storm, that section was a real mess. We seemed to be always climbing under or over fallen trees and were completely shattered by the time we got to Beinglas. Our trip finished there sadly but we will return and finish it at some point.

Hi Paul, great series of videos so far. about your cooking, did you think about using flameless heating bags for your food instead of a gas cooker?. I know you need the burner for boiling water such like but it might of saved a bit of weight and plus they’re disposable so you can put them in the in the bins as you go along and it’s easy to pack in your rucksack. I’m thinking of trying these in my little CAMPING adventure that I’m going on in August. just would like your opinion on them. Keep on making great videos.

Thought I had to drop out in Beinglas but fortunately I could make it to Tyndrum and buy some medical equipment at the shop there to handle my feet properly. But thumbs up, over 30k along Loch Lomond. That is something you can be proud of. I recall the stretch after Inversnaid as a really, really tough one. But you have been rewarded with some beautiful weather during the Rannoch moor stretch. For me that was the most beautiful part of the trail. Happy hiking

Bit of anorak info. That rough part of the WHW up the side of Loch Lomond - the path is all broken (Rob Roy's cave can also be found there), is part of the Highland Boundary Fault. It's a bit of geology demarcates the Highlands from the Lowlands of Scotland. The other major fault is the Great Glen, (which also a has a walking route through it. (Much easier that the WHW.)

Hi Paul, really enjoying your trip videos. Its a bit strange, as I have been watching Liam from Good Bloke Outdoors doing the same trip, although he was maybe just ahead of you, seeing the same places, although I think you are more like me, beers and bacon butties!! Keep it going mate.

It's weird seeing you in my home territory and knowing exactly where you are. Normally the scenery is all new to me in your videos

Yeah that discrepancy between GNDSS recordings and mapping software is something I experience every week. In my understanding it's (at least partly) down to inaccuracies in each individual satellite fix. They can be made far worse when under any cover or beside anything that creates a "bounce effect." Take a look at the recorded track when you were sat under trees on the tree, I can nearly guarantee that your track shows you walking around.
