Once the ponytail is cut the next steps are just as critical. It is important to donate ponytails properly to ensure they can be used to create the hair pieces. To make our wigs made from real hair it is crucial that all of the ponytails we receive meet the standards we set in order to be eligible for hair pieces. Watch this video to learn more about what makes a ponytail usable to make sure none of these generous donations go to waste.

Thanks for the detailed instructions. My daughter St. Baldrich’s event let all the hair fall on the floor and swept it up together mixing all the hair up and then put it in ziplocks. It sounds like that was a huge waste!! What a shame

You really should link all your videos with the "cut a ponytail for ... " one. I just got to see this video after making donation. If have seen it earlier, I probably could do a better job at packaging
I have been growing my hair for 4 years to donate. I have never had hair so long and I would always get frustrated with knots and just break the hair free. Now I have a lot of hair that isn’t the same length. The majority is super long but there are many not as long. Is this going to disqualify me?
Is a regular envelope okay?

You MUST measure it because Wigs for Kids only accept 12 inches or longer. Other organizations like Children With Hair Loss accept 8 inches or longer. If it is less than that, it will NOT be put into a wig. Depending on the organization, they may throw it out, or sell it to businesses to pay for the wigs they can make. But if you actually care about it being in a wig, which is the whole point of donating, then you MUST read all the instructions on the website of the organization you decided to donate to.

You can go to any salon that helps wigs for kids and they will measure the hair for you
What if you got it dyed a long time ago, (which was about 2 years ago) is it still acceptable?

What about semi-permanent hair color?
The poor kids. Why is a need doubling every year? What is in our air water and food that is making kids sick?😢❤️🙏🏼
