Hi over really enjoyed your videos and the attention to detail on your boats. Can I ask why 10ft rather than the usual wider beam? Are more waterways accessible at 10Ft. Thanks

10ft a bit easier to handle through the tight bridges and opening.

The matt black looks absolutely sick ha ha but I'm sure they will end up a different colour. Are you going to have to have to hunt around antique fairs etc for those vintage portholes do you reckon or can you buy them locally or get them on ebay?

Maybe you misheard but I think in the clip I say the old portholes are not my cup of tea as they are outrageously expensive to buy and fit. Also they really encroach into the cabin. Slimline chrome portholes for me. And yes the Matt black will be the same on my boat but it's just to get me through till next spring when I hope to complete a snazzy paint job.

Hi Jason Looks good was thinking of doing a self build project.? Would you have any idea what kind of budget do you think it would cost for something similar to your boat

  • @northernbuoy1

You would be looking at a budget of 80 to 90k plus your labour to fit it out. One full year 30k.

Will get back to you about the boatbuilder as I will make sure he is happy to be named, it's a strange world we live in and some people can be funny. The boat will leave the builders in October as a sailaway.

The boat builder is a guy called Neil Smalley and he goes by the name of The Sailaway Boat Company.

Why only 10 foot wide? There isn't anything that looks like or has been built like a Dutch barge?

You are very perceptive I think the boat in question has been built to give the boat a likeness to a Dutch Barge but on a smaller scale. I liked the look of the portholes which have been fitted and looking at the overall cost of a finished boat it is a small percentage of the project.
