Isha was my first storm since I moved onto my narrowboat and I was soooo paranoid I was checking the ropes every hour until midnight but I actually enjoyed weathering out the storm on a boat

@@themindfulnarrowboat I absolutely loved it the noise was just unbelievable but it's as you said I'm your video it's about being safely moored and being prepared before the storm hits also my boat is as former hire boat and has four massive conservatory style windows in the saloon so I had the perfect viewpoint its like owning my own bird hide

I truly enjoy your night scenery. Plus the crashing of rain, wind howling, night sky. Most narrow boat vlogs leave these out, and that's a shame. You make it so natural and appealing. Please continue, it is a big plus. Be safe and enjoy your outings.

Whenever I order something from the internet or out of a catalog, I do so with the understanding that the thumbnail I’m viewing, is a highly stylized, electronically embellished version that some marketing person has envisioned as being able to sell the most of whatever the product is, and only bears a passing resemblance to the actual product. That being said, I just received my copy of “The Nature Journal of a Narrowboater 2022”. I had reasonably high expectations for the quality of the content, from watching the multifaceted creator’s videos over the course of the year. The poetry and artistry weave a tapestry in one’s mind of her journeys and thoughts, and are uniquely wonderful. I was very pleasantly surprised when I opened the package and found a book of high quality materials, beautiful printing and just overall excellent quality. It is a fabulous buy at this price. I will be ordering my 2023 edition shortly. Thank you.

I don’t think I’ve ever known a winter as stormy as this one. I bet you will be glad when spring finally comes. It was interesting to hear about Josiah Wedgwood, I didn’t know that he was one of the people who fought against slavery. Lovely nature as always, we have some resident wrens in our garden, they are such cute little birds. I hope it’s not too long before you can move on again, winter closures must make it very difficult for narrow-boaters, especially continuous cruisers when you can’t get your essentials like water and diesel. Thank you for taking the time to visit Wedgwood. I am originally from Longton but my parents emigrated to Australia when I was 10 in 1960. I returned in 1970 and worked in the offices at Wedgwood Barlaston. We had a couple of royal visits, one from Prince Phillip and another from Princess Margaret and the Queen Mother. I loved every minute of my three years there before coming back to Australia. I had every intention of returning to travel more but fate intervened when I met my future husband on my return journey home. It was an unforgettable time and I made lasting memories. The factory is set in beautiful farm land in Barlaston and as I remember every one I met loved working there 💫🇬🇧🫖. Last time I was there I visited the cafe where the afternoon tea was served on the most beautiful crockery you will find.

I once walked the canal path from Hebden Bridge to Todmorden. It was evening, then it was night. The barges looked so cozy. Sometimes a bit of smoke escaped, sometimes I could hear muffled music. Beautiful.

Hello again. When we used to caravan we wrapped the aqua rolls in the foam jackets you buy for the hot water cylinders in the house to prevent them freezing

Looks so much like the Erie Canal near where I was born in upstate NY, USA. I also remember the drawing or pencil box. My wife of that time, the 80s on, liked crafts and drawing. Since I had once enjoyed it myself before becoming an engineer, I got a kit as well. We even joined an exhibition together along the canal. We also rode mule drawn narrowboats on the original canal remnants. She passed away in 2010. I remarried a year ago.

Rain sounds wonderfully calming on a boat, but the bashing of the solar panels in the wind just doesn't have the same effect for me. 61 wrens in a nest box is crazy. Such delightful birds. Very interesting to hear about how you plan your days and work and what it means. So difficult with these storms. What a crazy winter. Awwww lovely bird life and my even a snow drop so glad you made it safely through the storm we lost our large tree so sad grew from a foot high was about 25 foot I think took 18 years to grow sad no time to see another get that big but may still plant another in spring tc now the oldies 🤗🤗

Evening Vanessa what a few days we had of bad storms, but how well organised and perpared u were but as always something goes wrong. I spent some time back home and even though l thought lwas ready my water pipe froze and broke the shower thermostat causing a gush of water when it was turned on, but that's boat life 😂😂. So nice to see new life pushing up through the ground and buds appearing on the bushes and trees. It's nice when past employees of Wedgewood leave messages of memories of their work years a sign of good employers. I hope u have a lovely weekend.🐕🌳🌧

Hi Vanessa, a belated thank you for your delightful book, received earlier on this year. It has inspired me to stop and stare, observe and really appreciate all the wild life I encounter each day as I walk the dogs, along the banks of the Water of Leith, here in the heart of Edinburgh. Your enjoyable blog and illustrations have pushed me to pick up pencils and brushes after a long “rest” from painting. Best wishes to you and Zeph.

I can't think of any storms when I lived in Uk like the ones you suffered lately. So your a busy Lady , busier than I ever realized, so I will try and keep my comments concerning questions to a minimum in future. You need a clip fastener on your chimney Vanessa but I hope you found it. I used to go by a place when cycling with my Brother close to Derby named Denby Pottery Est 1809 which is still producing but Wedgewood is on the next level I guess. Hopefully that is the last of the bad weather for a while for you. Your smile always makes me smile.

We do seem to have a lot more storms these days; it's ever since we gave them names; I think they like to have their name heard and so they ramp up their stormy efforts a bit more!🤭 Isha, decided she would rather suit a chimney hat and so, she has not returned it, but something else happens to our poor chimney in the next vlog...😱 What a wonderful part of the world to cycle with your brother when you were younger! Seeing Hem Heath reminds me of my youth and when the coal mine at Hem Heath/ Trentham was in production with the vast mine workings lying beneath that area. Lovely vlog
