Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
Disclaimer: Before anyone plans an intervention I have been collecting the wine boxes for years. There is no need to be concerned.
Supplies:
Shoebox
Thin divided box like a 6-pack or small cardboard boxes
Duct tape
Hot Glue (if you want your box to sit at an angle)
Corrugated cardboard scraps
Here is a LINK TO THE ITHER MARKER RACK i MADE: • DIY Canvas Drying Rack...
*the shoebox will be the overall size of the storage container so feel free to choose a smaller or larger box to meet your needs. If you go larger than a shoebox I suggest adding a layer of corrugated cardboard or foamcore to the inside walls for support.

I’m disabled and do lots of colouring and puzzles to occupy myself. My husband noticed I was having problems picking out the right colours I have so many looking for a particular shade or colour. So he put every colour in its own bunch and wrapped elastic bands round them now I can pick out one bunch which is easier to hold and pick what I need.

What a great excuse to get and try a variety of wine coolers! I’ve got the shoebox, but not the divided ones! Yippie!
You are so darn creative! Your voice frequently resonates in my mind saying, "Use what you have." OK, LIndsay, I'm going to start cleaning and organizing my craft room tomorrow, and I'm actually looking forward to it! Thanks for the ideas!

Everyone can collect, decorate, and reinforce toilet paper rolls, which make good pen/pencil storage either on their sides or not. I've done it, and it works. You had still another good idea in this video! Best wedgie ever!

Ermagawd, I forgot about tp rolls...and I had saved a billion of them for “mixed media pockets” and have them saved in my drawer...but yay, I have a new project and something to do today!
This is Great Lindsay! The True meaning of Frugal Crafter. Always Love watching you create & talking as if your questioning yourself. 😁 Thank you for showing us all we don't need to purchase expensive items for them to be functional. ❤😘
I used a bulk milk bones box and a bunch of instant oatmeal boxes to make a marker storage box about 10 years ago. Still works great, always meant to paint it, but doggo is gone now and it's a little reminder of him so I probably won't paint it now.
Thanks Lindsay. And to think, a while back you were thinking of changing the name of your channel from The frugal crafter to something else. This is golden! 😉🤩💜
I don't think it looks trashy at all!! Like you said, you cannot clearly see what it's made of 😊 I think it's very clever and inventive! And all of the colours look lovely lined up with your other pens. I love vids like this! I'm a very organized person - it just makes me happy! Thank you, my dear xo
Thank you Lindsay.I AM so happy you still truely are the frugal crafter and I enjoy your mess

How funny, my husband calls me gadget girl, too. Also, the Queen of cardboard.
Love it. I used ball feet for a plastic container that i tipped on the side for paint. 2 ball feet on front kept box tilted up just enough to keep paint bottles from sliding out.
Who doesn’t like free? Or even better, recycle? This is what you call thinking outside the BOX! Lol. I think it looks great Lindsay in between all your other markers. Another good thing to use is foam core, you can get this at the dollar store too. I went to a cigar shop and got a bunch of empty cigar boxes, all different sizes, some wood, some really heavy cardboard. Some of them have beautiful designs on them and the ones that are boring, I coved with pattern paper. Creative minds can do wonders. Lol
I love it and I love how you reuse things around the house so you can spend more money on supplies instead of storage. Great video
I vote CLASSY! It was a fun project to watch you assemble. One day at Sam’s Club, I found several inserts that divided a large box for wine into six sections, I was so pleased, major score!,!!😂 Hooray for the resourceful!
Ooh, I've got a mini version of this that I've had for a good five years now, if not more, for some of my pens. I... have a lot of pens... In some spots I actually just used a rubber band to hold a bunch of pens together - they'd stay together if I took out a pen, but the rubber bands didn't hold everything too tight so I could just poke the pen back in place when I was done. I used hair ties for some bunches, when I didn't have rubber bands. I made a small pen cup type thing from some cardboard packaging and just covered it in washi tape, I've still got that one too!
this was a balm to my ocd, cardboard-loving soul.
Organizing makes me happy. We drink Harney and Sons tea in my house, and I LOVE their tall square cans. I use them in bins to organize, and have some hanging from my pegboard. I like them because they're taller than a typical pencil cup so they work well for longer art supplies and tools.
I wish there were more people like you. I don't think I would ever be board if I hung out with you.LOL You are awesome!
Oh the cereal boxes that have lived new lives... but that was back when we still ate carbs which we haven't for 10 months now... anywho, yes, I've been hot-gluing and duct-taping cardboard for years. Every yogurt cup was a potential paint pot for the students, and the collection was willed to the new art teacher when I retired. Now the tall yogurt cups (we don't eat yogurt either... too many carbs) from #2 son are my paintbrush cups, easy since they're all for watercoloring. I've got toilet rolls stuffed in the door-pockets in the car to hold plastic cutlery as well as chopsticks and straws for the (refillable) water containers. Recycling of paper out here is a thing, but I was dismayed to find that our area doesn't bother recycling glass, such an easy thing to recycle. Yes, your marker box with its little inclined plane is just the thing that was needed! I had a friend who built me a similar inclined plane for our dishrack, then once the stores stopped selling the flat piece that directed the water runoff and only sold the rack part, I found a large plastic cutting board that now rests on that wooden inclined plane. I have a piece of the rubbery drawer-liner stuff that I use as an anti-skid device between the inclined plane and the cutting board, so it all works. My water-based markers (the cheapies bought to hold me until I open the correct moving box) are in an assortment of metal mesh top-of-the-desk "organizers". The Sharpies and a few others have a similar home but in plastic. I bought some of the inexpensive alcohol markers you recommended, again, to tide me over until I happen to open the proper moving box. Everything else is in coffee mugs.
I've used empty boxes for organizing in the past. It's always a good idea when things can be reused. I made a pencil holder out of toilet paper tubes and cardboard from cereal boxes. There is always a way to use up instead of throw away.
It's classy and you have ever color in the rainbow I think!!! Neat idea!!
Excellent recycled, functional form and a very frugal idea i love stuff like this. Very classy and you are saving the world!! Thank you i am inspired to organize again. LOL
Thanks Lindsay and I love you... such a productive person you are...🌸🌸🌸
Back to your frugal roots! Love it!
At one time i used rain down spouts for marker organization,. I used a wood block to prop up the edge after i had hot glued them together. The whole system sat on my desktop. Loved it!

I Absolutely Love the Video! Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I Absolutely Love the Organization videos that don't cost major money.
Wow such a great idea. I knew I was buying all this wine for a reason! Thanks for the nice video.❤
It's great, Lindsay! I made a little one for my small pen collection maybe 5 years ago. It's still there and still working. You know what I did to fix that sliding pen thing? They have these little silicone "feet" at the hardware store that are already sticky on one side....they come in various sizes to use for the bottoms of coasters or jewelry boxes etc. I put one on each of the front corners at the bottom and the pens stopped sliding out on me. Yay! .....(I'm sooooo jealous of your marker collection :)
Brilliant solution for marker storage! I will start saving little boxes to make one.
You are always so creative. I had to laugh when I read your disclaimer, LOL. Awesome, thanks for making me smile. Take care and God bless you and yours. Sincerely Becky B from Arkansas
I love your enthusiasm and how real you are! ☺️💕
You're making me want a glass of wine! Haven't had one in awhile, ha, no intervention needed ;-). You also make me think of my MIL. Most of our gifts were wrapped in cereal boxes or toilet paper rolls! The environment smiles at both of you. Your Crafter's Companion marker tray reminded me of this -> It's something you have to buy, but I've seen several people do marker trays with the fluorescent light egg crate ceiling panels. The can set you back a bit if you have to buy them, but if you happen to grab one from a remodel or something, they work well.
Making boxes from flat stock is really very simple. All of my supplies used to be in plastic totes and are now in beautifully decorated (w/scrapbook paper) boxes on my open shelves. Got a label maker for Xmas, watch out boxes, here come the labels!
“I love playing with cardboard and duct tape.” -theftugalcrafter, 2020.
Might as well recycle reuse something that works for now. Later if it doesn’t work out or you out grow it you can recycle then. An unlike when you go buy something that ends up not working, there’s no guilt and trying to use something that you don’t want and doesn’t work but you spent money and feel you have to use it.
Terrific project. I have a 6 pack holder with tall shaker cheese containers in it with paint brushes and ceramic tools. They fit together perfectly. I've also made some cube storage from A&H kitty litter boxes by cutting them and gluing 2 together. You can also get 2 paper or magazine holders out of each box if they're cut just right. A project I'm pondering is with the large 4 box Graham crackers that come inside a bigger box. I think I can make a drawer system, but that's still in beginning stages. It should be fun to put together though. Thanks for all your fun ideas. That wedge one will come in handy!
Me and Mrs Paint Pen Jones. I have a serious collection as well. You saw just a few of my poscas. I have enough DecoColor paint pens to paint a dozen cadillacs! I love them. The oil based are my fave. But it's chaos! You are saving me. I need this video in my life.
A few weeks ago I decided to reorganise my craft cupboard so things would easier to get to. I put all my watercolour pencils that are already in a pencil wrap in a gift box that previously had some double sided tape and tape runners in. Looks great and I have everything together when I feel like using them.
I love making this kind of storage! I use cereal boxes for my papers and magazines. Just cut off the top and angle the sides little. If u want it to be a bit more sturdy, I cover mine with scraps of scrapbook prints. The pages are just the right size to work with and they look so pretty! I used white school glue thinned with a bit of water but I love how u used hot glue! Thanks for another great video ☺️
Wicked good idea!! Oh I love the chaos, that's what my table looks like when I have storage ideas for different supplies. Lol I start off thinking to keep it all organized while I work, and after a while I look up and it looks like a mean cat swiped my supplies all over. Did I do that? Yep. I save some packaging for mini album covers, but I love how you kept the mini-wine carry cartons. Such a great idea! Total money saver over buying chipboard-basically free material, and reducing trash which I try hard to do. I'm still finding my way with organization. Right now I have most of my supplies in those clear plastic drawer systems you can get in stores like Home Depot. I have three rows almost up to the ceiling because the room my stuff used to be in only allowed for that kind of space along with my work table. Now I have a whole room to use for that and my work station(work from home), and I'm struggling with laying it out. There is a heater and window along one wall and a closet on the opposite, with a door to the en suite on a third...so I'm trying to lay it out best in the room. I've changed it twice so far, still not thrilled. My mother sends me the fancy duct tape every now and then in a care package she sends from home. I guard those rolls like gold! My husband goes to grab it for something of his and I'm like NO NOOO....you use the cheap stuff we have in the tool drawer! Great video, thanks for sharing your creation process, the chaos with the organization, it was fun to watch. 👍🏻💖🌸
Hey, paper and glue has made many little and LARGE changes in the history of humans. The Japanese (or maybe the Chinese?) made ARMOR out of the stuff! AND IT REALLY WORKED!!
Another great idea. That box sure did fit in there perfect. How wonderful
I was just thinking I needed to do something with my markers so they don't hide in cabinets where I forget all about them. This is a great idea! Now to grab some boxes...I know we've got some! lol Thanks for the idea!
Always enjoy watching you Lindsay ! Great Video !
Thank you Lyndsay you make me feel as she f I'm not the only one who saves boxes. My kids this year as d that I could keep all the delivery boxes that they brought stuff in instead of what was in them!
I cut plastic milk containers down and fit some inside a very hard shoe box and more within an old CD unit with the ridges removed - worked perfectly. Same theory as Lindsay’s

Great way to recycle. I try to use almost all of my boxes in one way or another. 👍

Nice! I used toilet paper cores and an old shoe box with a little hot glue. I wedged it up with SU waterbrush marker cases :). Has been in use for at least 3 years!

"Paint pens, instead of the regular pens, you mean business." Absolutely beautiful. ❤😊👍😀
I did something similar with some markers I later had to return. I took one of those boxes that holds 4-pack sets of peaches and cut off the top lid. I cut off the large front and back pieces of empty cinnamon cracker boxes and turned them flat on their sides to make shelves just far apart enough for the markers to sit on in rows. I did this by laying a row of markers across the bottom of the peach box I had laid on its side and laying the "shelf" I had made from the cinnamon box on top of the markers. Then laid another row of markers and another "shelf" until the last row of marker fit snugly between my last "shelf" and the top of the peach box. I laid the finished "rack" flat on its side and it looked just like a rack of markers with the colored tops of the markers showing in neat, even rows. Loved seeing such a good frugal video like this and that I'm not the only person who does things like this! One question: a lot of my hot glue guns came with such poor quality glue that it didn't adhere things together very well at all. Could you recommend some glue stick brands for my glue guns that would stick things together securely, please? I would appreciate it very much.

Hi! When you said "Hey what's that trashy wine box display you got going on over there..." I started chucking because I would like to meet the person that knew it was wine boxes after you dolled them up....that takes skill or someone that knows liquor packaging like the back of their hand. I'm NOT judging you or your wine boxes. I might be a bit jealous though as the strongest thing I drink is coffee and that gives me the shakes, lol. Blessings for a Happy Happy New Year.

I love creating custom organizing containers! One of my favorites I made was for my color dusting brushes (which Idiscovered through one of your videos). I also used tomatoe paste cans (6 oz) to organize my Copics. Each can is a different color family. I decoupaged the with gesso and pretty floral napkins so the look pretty too. Hung them on my wall with command hooks (no holes in the wall, though each can has a small hanging hole). I love it!
So funny! I've been trying to set up my craft room and I was trying to fit my 18 set of Stabilo Woodies in with my other water soluble supplies and it wasn't working because the box is ridiculously long. So I took the small box that the Arteza iridescent paints come in and cut the lid off to make a divider. The pencils fit perfectly on one side and the brush and sharpener fit on the other side, with room for more brushes or whatever. I love making storage with cardboard and duct tape. Literally one of my favorite things 😆 Happy storage crafting!

Very clever!
I love this! I’m always saving trash to make some great storage thingy. Very few work out, but hey, at least I tried…right? I did have one success: At some point I found a great deal on a three shelf 8 ½ X 11 desk top box. When it was not full it was very unstable. When I got to the point where I needed a place for markers, I painted PVC pipe pieces, TP rolls I’m not sure what all I tried. Then it came to me. I had long ago abandon the paper thingy as not useable (but did not toss it). I turned it on it’s side so I had columns instead of shelves then cut down some of the small water bottles, stacked them 3 deep in the columns painted the whole shebang with acrylic paint (making it a bit stronger).
I made my marker storage from a bunch of 16 oz Temptations cat treat containers. It's a squarish container that has a wider squarish mouth. Which means that it already has a slant when you lay it on it's sides and you can stack them on top of each other. I did add a small shim underneath the bottom container for additional support and to keep them aligned neatly. It works great. I've been saving them for years too, I also use them for holding paint brushes and stir sticks.

It sure is! They dont recycle anything in my town now:(
Hey, Lindsay, an “Ocuvite vitamin supplement box (outer packaging)” fits neatly in the GALLO wine 4-pk tote; 2 to 4 of them would reinforce the tote AND keep it from collapsing. I’ve nearly driven my fella to distraction with my obsession with hoarding boxes, but I absolutely abhor “stuff” shuffling about in a drawer or bin … even a TOTE!! (Some of the snack boxes or the mega packs of yakisoba or the like become “liners” for those fabric totes some use for shopping bags. I use them to hold all the extraneous stuff that seems necessary to a ”snowbird”). Consequently, my junk drawers are subdivided to the inth degree to corral all the bits and pieces, but, hey, I U S U A L L Y can find exactly what I’m looking for!! 😉
Loved watching this , all the time I was thinking this is such a " Maine" video, from the use of wicked in the title to cobbling together wine boxes. Makes this fellow Mainer's heart happy, thanks for the inspiration to tackle the clutter. I will be attempting to do the same as I pack up my Christmas supplies!!
