I don't like the casting choices for the two main characters but otherwise it looks good.

I'm really looking forward to this. Wicked is one of my favorite musicals of all time, and it's about time it got a film adaptation. Arianna Grande is perfect for this role.

Someone finally read the book, thank you MsMojo! This movie will be as big or bigger than Jackman's Greatest Showman, Les Miserables (lol, also Jackman) and will redefine Maguires brilliant story weaved between Baum's original satire.

Everything about the trailer makes me excited even more

I'm actually crying over here. I first saw Wicked when I was 10. I'm gonna be 20 when this movie comes around, and I saw the musical for the first time an entire decade ago.

I’m a 60 year old bloke who thought it would be nice to take my wife to see Wicked on tour in Bristol UK for the first time in January…. WOW OH WOW. PHENOMENAL. Now I can’t wait for this movie. Love Wicked ❤

I saw it yesterday for the 1st time ever at the theatre and was blown away (goosebumps massive goosebumps). I loved it so much. Best show I've ever seen and I can't wait for this film. I'm obsessed with it now

I really hope they do Wicked justice. It’s one of my all-time favourite musicals!

Possible. Part one could be a short retelling of the Wizard of Oz and the backstory. With Wicked Part Two telling the story of what really happened.

@@Dularr Part one (or act one) is a prequel to the Wizard of Oz and an origin story of Glinda and The Wicked Witch of the West Part two (or act two) is a retelling of the Wizard of Oz from the witches perspective aka what really happened according to the book and the musical and of course now the movies I know this because I saw the musical twice already

I am beyond excited. I need a reason to get back to watching movies in the theatre. Sadly that never came back after Covid for me so I'm very much wanting to see this opening day

Maturing is realizing Glinda was the inner wicked one.

Amazing video ms mojo of breaking down the new trailer for wicked part 1,fantastic job.

What a week to be an Ozian! I love the sets, costumes, casting and vocals. Wicked made me a big fan of musical theatre! Musicals on screen may have been a little hit and miss in recent years. But this one, they cannot mess up! I wanted Cynthia and Ariana from the start. But Michelle Yeoh and Jeff Goldblum took me by surprise with their announcements as Morrible and The Wizard.

Yes! Between Cynthia's figure eight frames and Bowen Yang's Mucha-esque art nouveau temples, I've no doubt the eyewear in this film will spark a huge trend in styles of eyeglasses.

When Galinda said "you're green", I was almost expecting Elphaba to reply "you're blonde". Kinda like a nod toward the song "What is this Feeling?"

This movie actually looks Wickedly good. I was worried at first but man, props to the costume team and design team. It really looks like a fun world.

They sounded this out till it was perfect, they accomplished that...*☆*...something of Wonder!!!

Ariana sounds like Kristin Chenoweth in some scenes ❤ she is a great impresionartor so I hope her singing doesn't come out sounding like Kristin instead of sounding original

I'm excited for this movie. I'm also excited to see what they decided to include from the book because I just know there will be articles upon articles of the musical snobs crying about it. The book excited first, sold well and that's how we got the musical and now this movie.

For those who have read the books & seen the play can u please explain what going on? I’ve only seen “The Wizard Of Oz” “The Wiz” & “Oz The Great & Powerful” so without over sharing with spoilers can u explain… Glinda being so mean & has no powers Who is the headmaster or principal The love triangle R the witches🩷💚friends or enemies I thought the flying monkeys worked for The Wicked Witch not the Wizard As u see I’m very confused so if u have answers without to many spoilers please tell me.

The play and the book it was based off of are a prequel (first act) and midquel (second act) to Wizard of Oz. The most I can say without spoiling specific details is that it'll show the "Wicked" Witch was a scapegoat spun by propaganda to give Oz a common enemy. Glinda/Galinda was her school friend who knows the truth. It was actually her friendship with Elphaba that helped Glinda transition from conceited rich girl to the "Good" Witch you know from Wizard of Oz. But there is still that struggle knowing the truth behind the lies about her old friend

1. Glinda will have a character arc and she will become the Good Witch once she becomes associated with the Wizard 2. Not the headmaster but the female professor is Madame Morrible and she is the Wizard's right-hand/press secretary 3. Yes there is a love triangle between Elphaba-Fiyero-Glinda 4. They are enemies turned friends 5. This is a plot point but yes, the monkeys were the Wizard's first then sides with Elphaba

I just became familiar with the book series, so it's weird for me to see that Glinda is or was arrogant.

Didn't the wicked witch like get mad cause her sister got killed? Where is she in this prequiel?

The Broadway production was iconic, we shall see if it is successfully reborn as a film. I hope it is wonderful......but we have been let down in the past. The CGI over saturation is concerning.

I did hear that in this video, then they proceeded to display clips that were heavily CGI, thus, my concern. I have hope that this will be an awesome film.

I read the book and no nope not at all. It was very dark and hard to understand. Sooo this is livley and maybe a great hit we willl see.

Wow 11 minutes of NOT mentioning the name Ariana Grande but you namecheck Jeff Goldblum! Sassy 😂😂😂😂

The problem I have with this adaptation is that film musicals are such a rare thing and when they're good they're brilliant and putting this mammoth undertaking in two parts turns what could be the 2024 award season darling into a ca$h cow of a film. I am not saying the film won't be fun or impressive but when a movie can now be made to run 3 hours plus and sell out this film could have done the same. Musical theatre fans are a very fickle group of people and 9 times out of 10 they will go & see the latest musical film but to have a part 2 only certain musical film fans will attend no matter what people say. The only problem I have overall is that when Wicked was originally green lit many moons ago Stephen Schwartz stated that the big number which ends Act 1 of the show and will probably end the 1st ash to be sung right and the scream at the end of the song which is belted out has a very distinctive womble in it which how Cynthia Erivo sings, the thing is this can be removed in editing keeping the original song sung currently.

Well you're going to get both. The reason there are going to be two parts is because they not only wanted to keep all the songs but apparently develop the story more with info from the books. So...best of both worlds?

Production value looks good but I predict some Razzie noms. for the acting....cringe worthy.....

I'm not excited for this movie in my opinion. I like the classic version of The wizard of Oz and the black version The Wiz. To me, this movie seems like a cheap cash grab just like the other live action remakes of other classic Disney films.

@@paytonturner1421 I’ve wanted this movie for almost 20 years since I’ve seen the stage version. As much as cinema has somewhat declined since the mid 2000’s, I don’t plan on going back on my commitment to attending this magical occasion.
