I definitely agree with your sisterhood idea. I liked what the Muslim woman brought up. Though I grew up in an American Christian culture, I would say the ideas of washing were more indirect but similar. As a young lady, the expectation was that I would go to church with my hair “done”, nails looking nice, clothes looking nice, etc and washing and cleanliness is apart of that process. The idea of being “unclean” is synonymous with sin. I definitely think it’s the religious/spiritual aspect of our culture.

I agree that it has been handed down to do this, which is why I don't. I specifically do not assist non-Black women unless it's professionally ill advised, or they are a really good friend. I have had the experience of a WW asking me for help after she's passed several other people/women in the process. I look at them then walk away. When my children were young and they'd ask why I didn't help that woman, I'd say "Black women are not here to serve anyone and especially not WP". I'd go on to remind/inform them of the history of the world and how we spent entirely too long not having a choice in the matter, without it possibly costing us our lives. I made extra emphasis for my daughter to get this lesson. I ensured that she grew up knowing that she wasn't to serve anyone who isn't her and that the fact that she is female does not mean that she's to place herself below anyone. Instead, she is to remain Number 1 in her life at all times. As BW, we must ensure that the world knows that we aren't here for this. IDGAF who thinks that we should be doing these things.

I come from a generation where there was one kind sanitary pads--Kotex, did not stick to your panties, felt like they were 5 inches thick, were not individually wrapped and you wore a belt to hold it in place. As a young lady, I remember how my mother would load me up with sanitary napkins (which is what they were called) and bags. I was to change the napkin at least every 2 to 3 hours. I was also taught how to clean myself down there--"the only person who should you're on your period is YOU--no one else!!" It was a lot of work before they came out with the sticky kind of pads, so yeah, I can see why yt girls would smell...it was a lot of work for their grandmothers to stay clean back then and probably didn't--so no, they probably didn't pass that skill down their daughters so the granddaughters don't know to how either.

If MULTIPLE WM are saying the SAME THING everybody isn't lying. For those who know GREAT that is good and I'm being dead serious BUT for those that don't we'll teach and we always have. This IS NOT the first time not the second time not THE THIRD TIME I've heard this! I watched a video on KZread and 3 yt ppl were saying that crap about letting the soap from their hair drip down, they didn't use rags they think something is wrong with GETTING THAT SOAP and lathering up that rag or loofah and causing friction that gets that dirt, dead skin, funk and grime off of your body!

After scrubbing everywhere with different towels, scrub brushes etc… I’m swiping my behind with some non alcohol witch hazel ANDDD if I take a nice long hot bath, I’m going to shower before getting out, you just sat and stewed in all that filth that came off you and into the tub water.

This is nothing new. One of the many things the Moors brought to Spain and many parts of Europe, in about the 700 -800s, was hygiene... That's a historical fact... Many of these lessons weren't passed down through the generations...

I'm multiracial but generally identify as black simply because where I live is predominantly YT and they don't have a concept of mixed people and see me as black or unfortunately most of them see me as the "n-word." My mom was YT and didn't teach me anything. Not hygiene or anything. I learned myself as a kid and teen from trail and error and the internet. My dad is black and was there my whole childhood but might as well not have been because he was totally checked out. As an adult I have noticed that most YT men and women have terrible hygiene. My husband is YT and he is literally the cleanest YT person I have ever met and even he learned some things from me and from how I take care of our 4 kids. So yeah no hate to YT people but from my experience a lot of them are pretty unhygienic. 🤷‍♀️
