If you're running titanium rods naturally you will need to use extremely light pistons and wrist pins with them which are not as strong. A 2618 forged racing piston would have been better but the oem was doing what they could with the budget they had. It's hard to adapt race car tech to a street car. Ti rods weren't meant to last 100k either, not even close.

Even the now-overlooked and "modestly" powered C5 Z06 is still a very quick car. 0-60 in 4 - 4.2 seconds, 1/4 mile in low 12s @ 116 mph and Nordschlief full lap time under 8 minutes back in 2004 with 2004 tire technology. The record 1/4 mile pass for a bone stock C5 Z06 on stock OEM tires is 11.8 @ 118 mph. The record pass for a C5 Z06 with only an air intake and DRs is 11.55 @ 120 mph. For just a 5.7L pushrod car from the early 2000s that's rippin fast. But even my old C4 is an awesome car to cruise around in. The Corvette team forgot how to make seats after the C4.

Although it’s hard to find fault in the C8Z when it comes to its incredible engine & seemingly overall performance, I would argue that it’s a missed opportunity to not have a manual offering. Not everyone will be track driving these things. So to have an even further engaging driving experience whether you’re driving to the store, on a twisty road, or on track, would solidify this new Z06 as a super instant classic imo.

Trick Intake Manifold! Haha....Ford has been using active Intake runners since 1993 in both the V6 and V8. The V6 is called a Split Port because of this flapper valves that activate runners. Same with the 4 6L DOHC

I had a 02 z06 with a k- prepped prat-whitny C6R block, I worked at a place called CRC CLASSIC REFLECTIONS COACHWORKS. Dave hill was the chief engineer of corvette at the time, he loved what we did, I was plugged into a group of people through my employment. It was a solid 620HP at rear wheels, not being restricted like the race car Jake… it took me 3 tries to hit 200MPH on highway First I had syeped tires.. vibrated to death.. then hit the factory speed limiter. It was 150-155. The 3rd time was a charm.. 208mph. Oh an I cooked a new set of brakes that never got seasoned.. $2000 gone..

Ah! I remember learning something about this watching Speed Racer. When they came across the GRX, it was so powerful, that it put the driver into a trance or into the 4th dimension or something. So of course corvettes are the most powerful cars that ever existed, so that must be why they are so dangerous.

Most powerful that ever existed?? What you mean In the United States right? Because there are several cars that are leagues faster and have been for years. Hell the new engine is biased on the flat plane Lamborghini design.

The c6 z06 is roughly 50-70 lbs heavier than the c5 z06 depending on the year, with most of the weight difference being rotating weight in the larger wheels/tires/brakes. I was able to make a 11.8s 1/4 mile pass with a very modest 2900 rpm launch in my c5 z06 with just a cold air intake, a/c delete and light weight battery relocated to the rear, and nitto nt01 road race tires. The c6 z06 is obviously the family favorite but don't sleep on the c5z's, they're not that far behind. Time will tell how the new kid on the block, the c8 Z06, will favor. It's certainly got the power and the tech but cars being under 3000 lbs is becoming a thing of the past. Often times I hear the new generation of cars guys referring to 3400 lb cars as light weight.
