This has been the hardest power move for me for years. I almost quit because I couldn't get this move mastered. I could only do one rotation. The coordination is the challenge. In my opinion this might be the best tutorial on flares. Thanks.

Yo! Good stuff. I agree with the stretching topic. I heard about if you stretch before a workout(weight lifting) you're actually weaker. I'm not 100% sure if that's true. I understand why I heard it though. Let's say we are weaker. I think with an effective approach to hitting those moves is still very good. That means do your best to have good technique. For anyone having trouble(like me) with stretching, try dynamic stretches after that 15 min warm up. There's a difference between static and dynamic stretching. I think static is stationary stretching. While dynamic is kind of like doing wide armed push up, jumping jacks, squats, etc.

I've learned flares in a month, but it's been 2 years now and I still don't have clean flares, they're high and my foot doesn't touch the ground, but when I go to the back of the flare, I still tuck my leg in, I guess I'm just not flexible enough, can barely do a 45° when I'm doing that leg stretch. I can do 2 flares, 5 at most, but after 2, my legs get lower. I'll definitely try these tips, thank man!

it is normal, it will take 2-3 weeks minimum of 20-30min of daily pratice to achieve ONE clean round, then some what more time to achieve multiple rounds. (1 clean round took me 1 month, >5 almost a year)

Good question. I've seen bboys who can do one and not the other. If someone has good form with one, I would think they'd technically be able to do both equally well.

Kawika Not true. I learned how to flare black in 2003 and within a few months learned how to do multiples. As I learned them and tried Virgin flares ( closed leg, circles ) I noticed that doing one rotation coming from a flare is easy but going into a virgin from standing ( New Yorker style ) or from the ground it takes much more momentum, flexibility, core and forearm strength. Which is why many bboys can't do them. This strength is to be developed on bars workouts along with wrist, and finger flexibility exercises. Kujo has a guide on here for UFOs. Which help develop wrist and forearm strength for Virgin flares. A move he himself can do.

cant do tuck planche... can L sit for 3 sec but I can manage 3 flares and im 1.88cm 90kg :) Flares come withh practice of tht specific motion so your brain remember to activate the right muscles and use momentum instead of strenght. My opinion :) 10 years later and I can do like 2 now but still not even close to tuck planche.
