Why You SHOULD Visit RYDE On The Isle Of Wight In Autumn!

Deep into the Autumn now, but I couldn’t resist one more British seaside 4K walking tour. Today I’m back on the Isle of Wight exploring the quirky seafront town of Ryde. Based right next to the Solent, it’s only a few minutes drive from the Wightlink ferry port at Fishbourne with views straight across to the city of Portsmouth!
Walk with me through the deserted Appley Beach, through the marina, attractions and funfair, up to the town centre and back down to the historic pier. I spot the famous hovercraft and even a Christmas shop that’s open all year round!
Come along on and see why Ryde is one of the most popular tourist destinations on the IOW!
My name is Jack and I’m exploring the UK, making travel vlogs as I go. I’d be so grateful for your support, so please do like the video, leave a comment and subscribe to my channel here - youtube.com/@jackryanmiller?s...

Thanks for taking the time to show off our beautiful Island. Keep doing what you are doing - Visit Isle of Wight is the so-called marketing organisation for the Isle of Wight but doesn't believe in KZread!!!! It taxes local hospitality businesses very unfairly but doesn't promote the island like you and other vloggers do. In 2016 I started livestreaming our events and earnt the nickname GoliveGranny - carnivals etc because the Island needs promoting but thankfully now we have wonderful vloggers like you - at 73 I have been able to take a rest from live streaming out and about and just love watching from the comfort of my armchair and of course I can share. The steep hill is Union Street - and a while ago it was converted into a giant waterslide for a day!

Thanks so much for your lovely comment, that’s hilarious about the water slide on Union Street. It sounds like you had a great time with the live-streaming and I’ll be sure to check it out if you start it up again 😁

I've never been to the Isle of Wight. My daughters both went one year and liked it but I'm not as much travelled as any of my offspring sadly. I do, however get to enjoy vlogs such as yours and so am able to "virtually" visit places in and around Britain, where I havent, or can't visit, so thankyou so much for sharing your travels with us. "Back in the day" when I worked, first with horses, then later with dogs and cats, my days off were spent either at home visiting my widowed Mum, or days off in Hastings ! Nowadays, am in a wheelchair which means ny daughter pushing me everywhere so fewer places (other than Hospital appts.!) to visit. Hence am a 'fan' of your splendid little travel videos and so try to watch when I can.😊🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🧡🖖

@@jackryanmiller Jack, your videos are entertaining, educational, well-shot, pleasantly presented and quite frankly, for me, a joy to watch. Thank you for making and sharing them on YT with us. (I have only Fb and YT, plus no bank acc. hence am unable to donate, sadly, but I "like" and sometimes "share" your videos, and can only hope that's enough). 🤔🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🧡🖖

The passenger Catamaran from Ryde to Portsmouth runs from the end of the pier... It's the second longest pier in the country. I used to live halfway "up the hill" you said wasn't very steep...

That’s amazing, Ryde would be such a nice place to live. I’m guessing the first longest pier is Southend.

Appley Tower has been open to the public in previous years. It is due to re-open next year, I think by Monkton Arts. I work as a gardener (in the summer months) at Appley Park and Puckpool Park, so my source is just stories around the campfire :)

The bit at the end of the pier is the official end of the isle of wight. If you've driven that far, it's the only place you can turn around without ending up in the sea. The trams had to stop going up there because the new ones were too long and could not turn around.

Jack Isle of Wight is a lovely place but it is run by a corrupt Council. Parking charges are 24/7 364 days a year Even London don't charge after 6.30pm in many areas. The most expensive Ferry crossings in the world per mile. The reason vehicles drive on the pier is to collect people getting off the Catamaran from Portsmouth

@@jackryanmiller The island was a great place in the 80s and 90s, sadly it is not the place it used to be. What makes it nice is the low population for the size of the island.
