My last few shoots have all been done with constant LED light using the Stella Pro CLx10; Stella Pro Reflex-S and the Aputure Amaran 200D inside a softbox. I’m really happy with the results I’m getting.

Guy at the store was wondering why I wanted to rent a constant light for my last shoot. I too shoot hybrid! Also, constant lights are more versatile like you said. I know strobes get brighter but I'll always be apt to use constant. Great video, thanks for the tips!

Those photos turned out great however you need a lot of power output to get a well light photo and thats where strobes are better and additional to that, in some cases cheaper than continous lights. I had a single 100w led studio light and it was not powerful enough to give me sharp and quality photos.

What were your settings for the spotlight section ?
What was your camera setting for the spotlight? I always seem to get alot of noise 🤔
Cool settup.. Only issue I found is having the lamp in frame lighting subject while not looking like it's lit. Naturally the paper should be glowing from the light on the inside if the light is on since that is its modifier. It just make its look out of place IMO.

Yesssirrr 🔥. You like them better than aputure lights ?
@Tommy4k
11 ай бұрын
Most definitely
You did this effortlessly. I totally underestimated my strobe light, I for sure thought that I’d turn it on attach the snoot and be able to shoot getting the spotlight affect. For some reason when I shoot its extremely dark, I’ve played with the settings in my camera and all. Any tips on what I could be doing wrong?
@Tommy4k
25 күн бұрын
What type of setting are you shooting in?
This is clearly for a duel setup at a hefty price especially if you’re not going to film so I wouldn’t personally advise replacing strobes for that purpose. Those lights consume a lot of power, a lot of weight, and restricts shooting time on location if on batteries. Not disagreeing with what your saying just the wording of, “why you should use constant lights instead” I think whoever is leading the shoot should use the lights which benefits them the most unless unlike you said, if you’re doing both.
@Tommy4k

Thanks for the feedback, and you can recreate these setups with cheaper lights, I just used what equipment I had. I also know photographers who prefer shooting constant for the reasons being speed on set/no need for gels/ etc...
Would love to know some of your camera settings for some of these shots!

Can a snoot be used and get effective results with a lit studio? Do the lights always need to be off. I’m sure results are better that way. But would you say it can be done either way?
@Tommy4k
5 ай бұрын
yeah it can, but to get the effect to stand out the most, you want the room to be as dark as possible
Im having the hardest time getting the videos off my card. I have an R5C with the cfexpress card and my MacBook doesn’t support the video file

Or a fresnel light modifer
I have always shot with constant light, inside and out, but because I started off with videoshoots and stage lighting not flash photoshoots. So to me it seemed ass backwards to rely on a flash of bright light to light a scene, then have to sync it for every shoot. Nah not doing all that. Yea the model gets hotter with constant light but deal with it lol.
@Tommy4k

Yeah They both have different advantages
Is there a high-quality lighting product that illuminates the entire space? It seems like in the videos, only spotlights are used. I'm looking for something that provides overall illumination. Could you translate this into English for me?

Nobody SHOULD shoot with constant lights... nobody SHOULD shoot with flashes. It`s a tool for different workflow, for different enviroments with different results... I personaly love constant lights, but also I use flashes. Both has pros and cons...

did you shoot on manual mode when you were using constant lights in the second setup of this video? and if so what were the settings? i have a 15-35mm but the zoom lens you have seems fitting for that type of shooting situation looks perfect too!
