Every so often when I'm stressed and have a need to decompress, I come back to Tamriel to walk around and soak in the music and the scenery. Just walk around aimlessly until something happens. And then walk some more. Sometimes, I take Lydia with me. Sometimes, Serana. Maybe one of my save files has a reikling with me, and I pass the time seeing what he can do. Sometimes, I just go to my property and start planting.

Mirror's Edge is a great example of how a game doesn't need to be filled to the brim with "content" in order to be good. It's a game that can be beaten in just a few hours, yet I've probably spent 100+ hours on it over the years just because it's such a highly replayable game with solid gameplay fundamentals.

As much of a cliche as it is Skyrim will always be a comfort game of mine. Borderlands 2 as a close 2nd. Loved hearing yours! Vanquish was an instant Wishlist on steam for me.

I have to say I've really been enjoying the more general gaming culture type videos you have been doing lately, they have been really giving me a more positive outlook on gaming with their focus on just having a good time over the state of "modern gaming". Thank you man and keep it up

For some weird reason Bloodborne has become my comfort game, even though I pretty much suck at gaming. In the past few years I've become somewhat okay at it and the game keeps bringing me joy. Trust me, the doll knows.

The Dark Souls trilogy are my ultimate comfort games. After countless hours, i still keep coming back making new characters. I also really got into the Halo campaigns recently and they started to become another comfort zone I can keep coming back too.

recently games like the persona franchise have become comfort games, specifically the modern day games , I enjoy their dungeon crawling and its slice of life elements, it has a relaxing feeling for me.

Super Meat Boy lover here!! I love it for how simple it is. Hard, but simple. That’s what makes it so oddly comforting. That, and the feeling that eventually I can overcome it. Working on getting the dark world ending!

My comfort game will always be botw/totk. That game(and my switch) helped me through college and adulting so much. Putting on a Mac Miller record and playing smash with my wife next to me is also my happy place❤️

Super Meat Boy is a masterpiece. One of the best games, if not the best game i have ever played. The content, the physics, the simplicity, everything is just perfect. Almost 14 years later we still haven't got a real sequel.

Bought stardew valley for my wife so she could decompress after work. I took it over and now have like over 100 hours. Never thought I would be into a game like stardew but god damn do I love it.

Very good video! My comfort game would be Diablo 3. Even as I’m playing through the slog of FF16 at the moment, part of me wishes I was grinding my 6th Hardcore character instead 😅

I'd say the Max Payne series is probably my favorite "comfort game" series. The gameplay is so fun, especially in 3. Halo campaigns are another good choice

I have a full time career, am working on my masters degree, and have a wife. I still spend plenty of free time with our friends and family and get out of the house a healthy amount. We go camping regularly in the summer and have a weekly board game night with our friends. However, i don’t really watch tv much at all. So the normal amount of time a regular person may watch tv at night/after work is when i play games. I do play a lot but my life is very much in check lol

I never really played much of the burnout games unfortunately except the PSP one and that was so good. I wish that series would make a comeback

This is max payne, sekiro, the original doom, mirrors edge, and uncharted 2. Games that are nothing but fun to me

I play Elden Ring to relax, seriously it’s a comfort game for me 😊

Lego starwars for sure, if you claw and swap thumb sticks you can play the whole game with one hand and eat chips with the other hand lol

Geometry Wars 2 is my Xbox live arcade comfort game

I never got into meat boy on XBLA, I got my challenging platformer itch from Trials and N+

Racing games are my usual go to if I want to just chill. Gran Turismo 4 and BallisticNG/old WipEouts in particular. Although Deadlink and Lunacid have entered the rotation recently.

Prototype 1 over souls games is for me 10x better (in terms of relaxation)

TitanFall 2, Animal Well, Elden Ring, Halo reach,

I play Subnautica, Skyrim, Age of Empires 2 or Team Fortress 2 if I wanna relax and chill out, or if I want a to take a trip down memory lanes.

To me are, ac odysey, warframe, skyrim,azur lane , crashlands, citadel forged with fire

Celeste is a great game, but man idk if I’d call it a comfort game. It’s got very chill vibes, but the platforming is very challenging, and I definitely rage quit a few times while playing it haha.

Because comfort doesn't mean without challenge. First 4 chapters are just solid fun. Comfort games don't equal cozy games. They are just fun games that are easy to hop into. No 4 hour tutorials, no giant exposition/prologues, you can hop in and start playing/enjoying right away. This is why everyone's comfort games will be different from one another, everyone gets different enjoyment out of games for different reasons

Choosing Souls games & any Platinum Games titles as comfort games aren't exactly the best choices my guy. Comfort games are supposed to be relaxing experiences without any stress being involved. Any 3D platformer, first person shooter, racing game, fighting game, third person shooter, open world game, RPG's, etc. are better choices & examples for comfort games then playing games were fast reflexes, timing, constant dodging, and ridiculously powerful enemies are a key to even progress to the game. Hell, I played the old Devil May Cry games & those aren't exactly comfort games either.

Calling any 'Souls' game a 'comfort game' is LAUGHABLE. Also, for 90% of gamers, ALL games are 'comfort games'. I'm so sick of the overwhelming MINORITY of hardcore gamers refusing to acknowledge that 90% of people who play video games do so primarily or solely TO RELAX.
