Going for platinums is one of the best ways to experience games as you’re likely to experience everything the game has to offer while also giving you a good challenge. The only negative is that I sometimes notice myself not wanting to play games at all because the platinum is either unobtainable or too difficult which might mean that I miss out on some really good games

Yup you bring up a really good point when it comes to avoiding games as well. I found making a alternative account helps me play games casually and not obsess over completion percentages.

or it has online trophies like Red Dead Redemption 2 and GTA V. I can't stress enough how online trophies should be set aside from the Platinum run, especially in case the game's servers shut down (most recent example, AC Unity)

After 134 platinums... I'm burnt out. I'm tired of having to check off box after box on a checklist. I just want to play. No pressure. No checklists. Just... play. Granblue Fantasy Relink is what did me in. I've done grinds in plenty of RPGs, like grinding for the ultra rare Byrnhildr Relic and Ambicion weapons in Tactics Ogre... but GBF made me fight a boss over and over and over and over and over and over and over and OVER again to grind out 19 different weapons... all of which dropped randomly. It was madness. Exhausting, exhausting madness. For years I felt trophies expanded games, offering gameplay opportunities you would normally never experience if you didn't pursue them. I was a trophy advocate. Now... I don't think I can stomach them.

134 is a lot of plats so i totally get you especially considering you have a bunch of grindy RPGs on your list as well. Burn out really is such a problem. What I will say is I think you took the healthy approach and detached yourself. At the end of the day enjoying what you do is most important, and if gaming is the hobby you most enjoy then making sure you love gaming is waaaaay more important than seeing that plat number go up.
As someone with 178 Platinums and can honestly say this is probably my favorite hobby I’ve had. Sure, some games are just unfair and sometimes they just ask for way too much. But, at the end of the day it’s all worth it once it’s done.

For all the trophy hunters out there. If you are into retro gaming also. Try out retro achievements. Awesome way to play old games with community achievements added in. (Not a bot or sponsored. Thank you)

Because of the platinum trophy you experience soooo much more w game has to offer that a general player just would not even know existed Like god of war ragnarok, you experience SOOO much more story and bosses i didn’t even know existed

I have Burnout Paradise Remastered sitting in my small backlog for a few years now, and i am thinking about playing it and going for the platinum trophy. I heard its a 3/10 difficulty, but there are a few online trophies, which is off-putting

yeah totally understand. You could try and create a boosting post on PSP Profiles. I'm sure you could find people willing to help you.
I understand that trophies are something that keeps YOU intrigued. I get it. But for most of your generation of gamers trophies ARE the replay value as you would call it. for gamers like me the game itself IS the replay value. And that is why you play and understand games different. Trophies, once you got them all, will not motivate you to collect ever again. You get the trophies once and it is done. You lean back and consider the "job" done. Like a household chore. Done. And so the game is done as well. I started when games did not have such nonsense. On the NES the only thing you unlocked with some games was just another loop with faster and tougher enemies to test your skills even more. But when you hit the reset button once it started at point blank. But we couldn't care less since the games themselves were the reward for our existence and endurance. We played video games. YOU hunt trophies. That changes everything. And that is why gaming seems to die, according to your generation. Because at one point you become fed up with trophies and you become honest with yourselves. That you did not come here for the games. They were just games. You came for the trophies. And this video is, even if it is not much on its own, a part of the evidence.
I send it to my friend W video

When I got a PS5, I started to take trophy hunting more seriously. I have now 13 on my list, from pinball games, to Ratchet and Clank. Currently doing a mix between Stellar Blade and Lego City Undercover. I am though careful with what games I pick for a Platinum run.

That’s why I set rules for myself. 1 - I will not check trophies before buying or during the first play through. Buy games that I know that I want to play. 2 - I do my first play through the way that I want to play the game. Trophies are clean up afterwards if I want to do them 3 - I only platinum games that I think that the platinum trophy will enhance my experience in the game. If it’s too grindy, I won’t do it. If it’s a descent challenge, I will go for the platinum, but if it feels impossible without cheesing it, then I don’t do it either. This way I can still get the most out of games by platinuming the games that I love, and not souring the memories I have of games that I haven’t platinumed. If you can find the right balance, it’s totally worth it in the end.

@@fall-neckthetallneck2977 There are also many great games with bad platinum quests. Doing stuff that is not really worth. If you wouldn´t do that by yourself, it is really worthless stuff in many cases. Rare exeptions these days. The time you could have used to play your backlog or a different game in general (or doing other stuff in your life). I mean it is a list created around the game itself (and developer must do that, some doesn´t want that, but they have to). In some cases it is implemented to increase the player time. And it can create a sort of stress in your mind. That´s what i mean. It can (or most likely will) affect the gameplay experience in a bad way. Because at some point you try to find out what you have to to and you play like that. A second playthrough can be fun and challenging as well for the game itself. And here trophies can affect is also badly.

@@SavasKKS While I agree that there is a fair amount of games with fairly bad trophy lists, that’s why I don’t platinum them. I only platinum games that I love and if I think that doing the trophy list will be reasonably achieved without being too grindy or being frustrating. I get that for some people, finding a balance that works isn’t easy. But so far I have very fond memories of the 37 platinums that I do have.
