    I will say this. As a new rider who never rode before MSF class when I bought this bike, I just thought it was my error making it stall on slow right turns. When I did this on day #2 it only stalled once, unlike the 6, the first day. It does make a difference.

    Thanks for identifying a cheaper relay that works - Bosch, a German brand, is ALWAYS expensive, and Japanese electronics are usually good quality. As for the dielectric grease, just put a dab on a Q-tip and smear it over the surface of the contact, and that will block air and moisture from causing corrosion. The pressure of the mating contacts is enough to push through it for a good electrical connection

    Hey there, watched your video and took your tip on the GoPro mount screw! A little tip on that… the screw is very long and for me was pressing onto the wiring loom below. Vibration over time will cause the screw to cut its way into the loom and possibly short something out. I’ve cut the screw and made it shorter, it no longer touches the loom and also takes less turns to screw it 👌🏻 Check yours to be safe… 😊

    Alex. First part of my post Break-in service is done. Oil Change. Chose to go and do it myself. I am not a stranger to working on classic cars. So working on a retro motorcycle is something I can handle. Now I did have to order a few of tools but now that I have it all I can do the next service far cheaper. Price of service was another motivation as It would have cost around $500 for a Oil change and the Valve inspection/adjustment. You have already got to the service mark have you not. Thinking of doing the service your self? You already are adding after market parts and doing things like the relay cleaning.

    Very helpful - especially about using the GoPro screw - anything with a 10mm metric thread should do, as it's a bit of a pain having to use an Allen key, always with the risk of losing the screw. Regarding the relays, I haven't had any problems yet with my four-year-old Interceptor, but I will take the opportunity of checking them for excess grease. I would have been inclined to use copper-ease grease, as it is conductive.

  • @josephcleek925

    Using a conductive grease on those relays will cause a short circuit. The dielectric grease is there for corrosion protection only.

    Thanks for stopping by! It is recommended to disconnect the battery while doing electrical work. Using the correct cleaner and tools also decrease the chance of something unfortunate from happening. That being said, if you don’t want to go though the hassle of disconnecting the battery and the wiring, just be really careful not to overspray the cleaner on other parts. Please keep us updated! Happy holidays to you as well. Ride safe!

I am not a motorcycle mechanic so I would not know the best course of action. However, I would definitely try cleaning the relays, and replace them if you feel necessary. If the issue persists, it would be in your best interest to take it to a professional and having them diagnose your bike. Hope this helps! Ride Safe!

    1:23 I had a similar issue with my 2019 interceptor after a year, it's only done 2000 miles now but the issues started with occasional cut out. Fiddle relays and it went again so I cleaned and fitted Bosch relays, thought it might be ignition switch but all checked out OK. Laid up over winter, fir a while I turned ignition on weekly to check ok. Then out of the blue, turned it on. Nothing! So carefully removed seat and side panel to attempt to find issue, turned my back and as I'd left ignition in on position, all of a sudden all came back to life! Studying visually, saw a wisp of smoke from area under battery, turned out the red wire from starter solenoid to fuse box has a joint located above swing arm, to access its wheel out and mudguard removal, the spade connectors were blue with corrosion and had been heating up melting the boot over, it's in a lousy position and wonder if it was assembled incorrectly, now soldered to new spades and waterproofed.

    Sup mate. I also got an in650 as my first bike. Though I'm not through the break-in period yet so I avoid revving 5000+ rpm which is what you need to get to freeway speeds. Although I did hit the freeway once, my front wheel gets very wobbly on very high speed curves. Was wondering if you're having the same issue. Word is that it's the front tire that's the problem. Also, what was the mileage before you replaced the relay??

  • @SB-or5mj

    @SB-or5mj

    Could be a few things. None of them major, all little adjustments. One, an out of balance front wheel, which I doubt because the wheel weights are installed at the factory and in general are pretty universally placed and correct. two, the front fork steering stem bolt. The big silver 8mm hex under the center of your handlebar. It adjusts how easily the handlebars turn. they should turn very easily, but not wiggly loose. From the factory they're typically too loose. Loosen the 4 fork pinch bolts in the top triple tree. then snug down the large 8mm hex just a bit. then re-tighten the pinh bolts. You can find torque specs online for the pinch bolts. That typically solves the wobble issue. Mine never had it, but I went around their entire bike and snugged up all the bolts when I got it. It's not an uncommon issue htough.
