Great review. I got a soft spot for Yamaha gear. I have a load of their XP pads which I use with a Pearl Mimic or an Edrumin trigger interface, I absolutely love the TCS material. The 3 zone pads are so handy. Golly, if I didn't have a Mimic, I would be so tempted to get the ProX set up...

Just to clarify, at 0:50 by hardware I mean the snare clamp for the Roland was not staying level on the rack! The snare itself was fine. Couldn't get the word out on the video!

I have this kit and love it too! I appreciate the honest straightforward review. One question, what is the actual name of the “rock kit” you played? I sounded great. Did you edit the sounds or were they just presets? Anyway, thanks!

Thanks Terry! Yes, I put together the rock kit and just tuned, muffled, and used a little ambience. The kit sounds like Peter Criss's sound which I always was a fan of! The 3 rock snare drums in the module are the best sounding in my opinion and you can edit and adjust them to get a great sound for any style. Thanks again for checking out the video!

@@sabadrum Thanks for the reply. I’ve been delving into the modules editing functions and there’s quite a lot in there. I quite like messing around in there.

Hey, for an amp I use a small Fender, but I also only really use electronic drums in my house when I use it aloud. Roland amps are probably the best for live gigging, etc

I do have to say, the digital roland ride, snare and hats are usb patented and 7 zone, not 3

Hi I just bought this kit for my granddaughter and don't know anything about it. Something about you have to set up pad triggers in module. For example hi hat don't trigger right nor other pads! I was thinking the drums were plug and play out of box! Please help us if time permits. Oh and you are a great drummer! Seems like you are a music educator. Please help. Thank you with kind regards.

Thank you so much for the kind words! In terms of hooking up each pad to the module, the separate wires are labeled as to which input they go to from the module to the pads. Crash 1 is the cymbal which is to the left, the Ride is the cymbal to the right, and the 2nd crash is to the far right. The snare is the white pad, and the toms go in order from right to left. Hope this helps!

Hey thanks for watching. The snare is actually triple zone, equipped with a cross-stick zone and rim shot zone. The cymbals are also all triple zone

DTX6K-X or TD17KV (Old 2018 model) for $840? My local shop can get both sets down to to this price point.

I would say get the Roland. It triggers a little better and I like the editing capabilities a bit more. sorry for the late response!
