There’s an independent appliance retailer with its own service department and they are awful just like the big retailers. Nowadays, it’s all about the most profit and how fast you can get it out the door; no one cares about after the sale service, when something goes wrong. An owner might feel a vested interest but the workers do not and don’t care. That’s my experience with my local independent appliance retailer.

@@BoulevardHome Over the past couple years I've dealt with renting, moving, and remodeling. That includes new appliances (and dealing with landlord provided appliances). The three big box stores (Best Buy, Home Depot, Lowes) have all been just fine. Worst thing I can say is that their delivery guys often show up way earlier than they claim. LG Direct's service is mediocre but at least they eventually bought their pile of junk back. The only one to jerk me around was the local chain. They were happy to take my money for something they knew they didn't have. Every week for a month the expected delivery date would slip. Finally I just initiated a chargeback, bought the same Bosch dishwasher from a big box store and had it in my possession a week later. I didn't learn my lesson and checked the same local chain recently. Then I noticed all the weasel words used to describe their delivery service. Then I saw the $100 installation fee on top of the delivery fees… for an induction range that they may or may not have in stock. The other local retailers either specialize in much higher end equipment or are 30+ miles away.

Sadly our local small town appliance stores went out of business after the pandemic. We no longer have someone to call when our appliances don’t work. It stinks.

So true. I deal with an appliance store that SAVED me money with their recommendations. And I bought very affordable appliances.

So, so TRUE!! I really wish I saw your video prior to purchasing all new kitchen appliances. I love your video and just say to myself listen learned.

I like having the box stores available because of there large inventory of common items you may need and they are open 7 days a week. They serve their purpose. But when it comes to items that may require service down the road, your specialty stores are the best bet. I am ready for an upgrade on our washer. It's a front loader and 18 yrs old. I now prefer a top loader and debating between the SQ TC-5 or TC-7003. The price point is not that much difference.

That's a good take on box stores versus independents! The biggest thing really is service down the road, but box stores definitely have the convenience factor from time to time.

Like your videos, but have to say that “if” appliance stores had better pricing and service, then maybe this would be true. We just purchased a Bosch dishwasher from a big box store, along with a service contract that was very reasonably priced, considering what a service call / repair would cost from an appliance store. The local appliance stores here, in Central Oregon, don’t have the best track records. Plus, as you said in other videos, buy a good product, as we did with the Bosch 500 series. Our last Bosch, in the home we sold, never gave us one piece of concerns.

Unfortunately we're not by everybody. We have four stores in the United States, in Utah and Nevada. There are plenty of other local appliance stores that we'd encourage everybody to check out, though!

Hey Blake enjoying your videos Here is a real life example not to buy from a box store One of our customers ordered a new stack w/d which was replacing a 27 thin twin which was still working. She just wanted to upgrade. Now this was a second story install. So the install on bringing the the old unit down They lost control and damaged walls and sheetrock. It does not end there. On bringing the new unit up they again lost control and the new unit was damaged. Now reflect on this. Customer had a working unit which she wanted to upgrade. She has damage to her unit, and she is told it will take a month for a new unit to arrive. Yes she was pissed but what could she do. Just buy from the professional dealers and they will resolve problems Thoughts from a senior tech for over 4 decades Joe Hailey Idaho

I've had good experience with best buy, but they do service their appliances. sadly you need to buy their geek squad protection for that though.

What part do you find is BS? While obviously the point of view is hardly unbiased, that doesn't mean what is presented is false. Since you say it is "all" BS, anyone reading your comment has to wonder about your agenda. For example, the mentioned stores really do not service the appliances, so that is hardly BS. What is your angle?
