7:46 , actually- this fact isn't true, as they did try to use faux fur for the hats, although using it made it difficult so they converted back to bearskin. The faux fur was easily damaged in rain/snow, causing them to mildew easily or malform, and didn't last as long as the actual bearskin caps, meaning more funding would be spent trying to replace every cap after the bad weather that the guards were out in. So, they did try at first, but it was more efficient to just use real bearskin in the making of the hats. Don't worry though, because the authentic bearskin is hard to damage and doesn't every really need repairs- as they've had the same hats for a very long time, meaning they barely ever have to replace or use extra bearskin for the hats. For any of you thinking they constantly need replacing, the bearskin hats can last at least 80 years before they need to be replaced (assuming they weren't shot off of the respective person), so bears aren't being constantly at risk or being killed for the hats! ^-^

I was a Guardsman for the Queen's Royal Representative in Canada, the Governor General. Our Regiment is called the GGFG (the Governor General's Foot Guards). If feeling faint we were expected to come to Attention (if not already), take a knee and gently place our weapon on the ground before passing out. If we dropped our weapon, we would be fined for the mistreatment of our rifle. We perform at many prestigious events and are famous for our "Changing of the Guard" ceremony on Parliament Hill, the seat of the Canadian Government. One word of advice, be careful of provoking a Guardsman. It will not turn out well for you. Cheers. 🇨🇦

The so called "Queens Guard" are professional soldiers and are members of the 5 elite Guards Regiments of the British Army, Grenadier Guards, Coldstream Guards, Scots Guards, Welsh Guards and Irish Guards. They rotate duties to spend time guarding royal establishments so each Regiment takes it in turns. Some of them see it as a break from normal duties. The Royal Marines and Royal Navy have also in the past acted as Queens Guard. You can tell the regiment on guard at any time by the insignia on the soldiers tunic collar. The shamrock is obviously the Irish Guard, the thistle for Scots Guard and the Leek is the Welsh Guards. The Coldstream and Grenadiers wear their regimental imsignia likewise. You can also tell by the number and grouping of their tunic buttons but thats a little more complicated. So dont for one moment think that the "Queens Guard" is some kind of security company like Securitas or Securicor because, believe you me, they're not! They are fully trained combat troops, regiments of the British Army.

0:45 - Queen Victoria did not decide she needed more room and relocated to Buckingham Palace. Originally known as Buckingham House, the building at the core of today's palace was a large townhouse built for the Duke of Buckingham in 1703 on a site that had been in private ownership for at least 150 years. It was acquired by King George III in 1761 as a private residence for Queen Charlotte and became known as The Queen's House. William the IV decided to upgrade and extend the Original House as the New Home of the Monarchy, However he died in 1837 before moving in. Buckingham Palace became the London residence of the British monarch on the accession of Queen Victoria in 1837. 04:35 - The Royal Guards Weapons ARE ALWAYS LOADED. 06:58 - Following the Battle of Waterloo, in 1815 all members of the newly named Grenadier Guards were permitted to wear the bearskin. This privilege was restricted to the grenadier company of the regiment. In 1831 this distinction was extended to the other two foot regiments Coldstream and Scots Guards. 07:55 - They are not VEGAN, They are ALL made from Black Bear Skins Supplied by Canada from Culled Black Bears. (They did try a synthetic version but it didn't work, in the rain it looked like a drowned rat) I really wish people that make videos like this would do PROPER Research.

The fainting is because they keep their knees locked when standing at attention. You're suppose to bend your knee slightly or alternate between legs to allow blood flow or this happens pretty damn quick to anyone. Just saying, it's not this badass thing... it's a serious lack of attention to a major health concern for these guardsmen and it should be taken more seriously, not praised. "Standing at attention, or with one's knees locked, may amplify the process.” One of the methods of counteracting the blood-pooling problem is to contract the leg muscles or move about, thus stimulating the blood return to the heart and improving circulation to the brain. Preventing a lack of oxygen to the brain and thus fainting.

When I was in the Australian Army we were not allowed to move and help anyone that fainted either. It's so hard to just stand there and not help our fellow platoon family. I hate it when people disrespect guards, any military service in most countries. Just watching someone do it makes me want to knock them out. I even speak to kids who do this and then turn to their parents/caregivers and give them a mouth full. My boys and nephew's also go off at people for it. We also speak out if anyone around is disrespecting police, Firefighters, ambulance, doctors, nurses, ses, retailers, farmers, truck drivers, surf life savers, anyone servicing the people and anyone that is bullying another person. We have done this even before this ccp virus and will continue even after. We sometimes stand up for government personnel but only if we feel they are in the right at that time. I was raised to respect my elders and fellow human unless they are been disrespectful to others or myself at the time, We don't hold any grudges.
