Why you need an optical clock

In our video KZreadr Doktor Whatson explains the technology defining our universal time, how the redifinition of the SI second will influence our lives, and how Menlo Systems' FC1500-Quantum Complete CW Laser System with Optically Referenced Frequency Comb helps improving clock precision. why is there not uch interest of optical clocks compared to atomic clocks, even though optical clocks are far more precise and groundbreaking?

The importance of optical clocks is reflected in the fact, that the redefinition of the SI-second based on an optical transition instead of a microwave transition is planned for 2026. See here for more information: www.menlosystems.com/events/news-press-releases/view/2752
