If you get the right kind of belt or the right buckle it's an extra accessory that's functional too.

It's just a preference thing. I get the clean look but I personally like the look of a belt on me. For me it just adds an extra touch. I feel like it makes my outfits more complete.

Same. I've started trying out the cleaner look without a belt after Simon Crompton wrote about it on Permanent Style. For the most part I like the belt to break up the top and bottom half of an outfit. It also keeps higher rise trousers sitting on my waist, avoiding the "teenage boy at a family wedding" look when formal trousers slide down!

I agree on the asthetics in alot of ways. However, I carry a gun for my job. Whether in the pocket or inside the waistband, the belt is needed for the extra weight.

Makes sense. I find even a mobile phone in the pocket gives trousers a tendency to slide down without a belt.

I've been contemplating going without a belt especially this time of year wearing shorts and either a tee or Polo. I don't need a belt to keep my shorts up. I do like matching belt color to my shoes when I'm wearing jeans or chinos though

The right belt can add a nice touch of formality or casuality to an outfit. For me, a nice belt is a must when wearing pants with belt loops.

Side adjusters are a good look if you have the dress pants, tho most jeans will have belt loops and imo don't look good without a belt, even if you're wearing a tee untucked. That said, I know it can be an extra step to find a belt that is in proportion to shorter guys ie more narrow belts eg 1.25" or 35mm width. Chinos, maybe you can get away with more, and sometimes jeans. Idk, it may vary with the look of the garments paired together

I like belts but would love to try a pair of trousers with side adjusters (do some people call them side tabs?). If I end up liking them I’d then mix things up.

All my pants are tailored so they really not need belt for that.... But when i see someone not wearing belt while there are belt loop it's kinda missing something..... So i wear belt or took out the belt loop for some trouser..

I like the tactility of belts, and also, I think it's a more practical (and durable/replaeable) way to hold up your pants, compared to elastics. That being said I do get your points, and yeah anesthetically beltless has big pros.

I agree. But Id prefer getting trousers without a loop. I carry my gun with a belt system under my clothes. But when Im wearing jeans id rather wear a belt and attach my holster to it.

I normally wear a belt because it serves as an anchor for my inside-the-waistband holster for my concealed handgun. That said, I occasionally wear shorts with elastic waistbands or without belt loops, but I have to wear a smaller, lightweight handgun to prevent my shorts from slipping off my hips! 😳

wish i could go beltless more but due to my weird hip shape finding a waist size that fits is a nightmare. A lot of waistbands stretch out when on the move which is also a reason why i always wear a trusty belt

You’ve got to show off that belt buckle! There isn’t just one reason for its usage.

I like the no belt look but most of the time it's hard for me to find pants that's relax on my big thigh and thight on my small waist line.

Its so hard to find 33" wide.... the 32" is too tight and the 34" just a little too big that i end up needing a belt

As a 6'1", 138 lbs I would like to not need a belt

One less thing to match with your watch strap and shoes

I think not wearing a belt with pants that have belt loops looks pretty silly. And it makes it look like you forgot it, so I probably wouldn’t trust you with much…
