Amazing podcast! Great interview, Pau. Luca is a well-known polyglot, and it's always nice to listen to his knowledge, also everything is in Spanish which is super interesting.

Luca at 16:15... wow - just explained the 'performance anxiety' of my whole life 😞 I just started listening to Super Easy Spanish this week after finding it by accident on KZread. I think it's going to be a daily staple now. Thank you Luca! And to Pau - your comments about things coming to you when you meditate really resonated with me. I do yoga and sometimes I can be in downward dog in my class and a Spanish word or phrase floats into my brain. Sometimes I can't remember what it means, but it's there - other times I have a whole conversation with myself. Now I know why. Thank you too.

So funny that you talked about meditation and language. A friend just mentioned that her grandson woke up from anesthesia speaking in German a couple of weeks after returning from visiting Germany with his German grandfather. The language was there in his subconscious. I need to meditate more!

Luca is literally the reason why I am fluent in Spanish. Without his advice I don't know where I'd be. He has been and still is my linguistic role model. An amazing guy! I loved the interview as well!

Un hombre tan guapo e inteligente. Great video Pau, one of your best yet! Thank you for all you do for us. I've been doing Duolingo for two years religiously and a year prior semi regularly. After about a year of daily practice and being in the top 2 percent of Duolingo and a trip to Mexico I realized that that app was proving to be quite inadequate. I started searching for something else and found only mixed reviews of costly apps. That's how I found Easy Spanish on KZread and the combination of audio, with foreign and native subtitles was just the thing I needed. I have to give credit to Duolingo for it's gentle entry into grammar and gamified learning, but if you're not practicing real time listening and speaking, having a huge vocabulary is quite useless. I know my next step will be join your live conversation video conferences. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Su nivel de español es increíble y me sorprendió aunque no debería, debido a que es un políglota pero eso no significa el lo sabe bien. Bueno, espero que hubiera tomado en serio la idea de input comprensible al inicio por que estaría yo más adelante en mi camino. Aun así, me acuerdo cuando me emocionaba tanto que pudiera entender una palabra de Easy Spanish y ahora mismo después de un año y medio yo lo entiendo todo a la medida que sea tan fácil. Siempre es mejor para entender todo y hablar poco por que desarrollarás la habilidad a tiempo más fácil en vez de al reves. Es que nos apuramos y tenemos tantas ganas de hablar y impresionar a los demás y decir lo que queramos pero en cambio, nos tropezamos en nuestras palabras, cometer errores y nos volvemos tímidos y nos impedirá seguir para adelante. Pero también es frustrante cuando entiendes y no puedes hablar. Solo yo cambiaria que escuchara más mientras estaba estudiando y de esa manera tendrás un entendimiento firme en las dos habilidades a la vez. Buen contenido y un abrazo enorme. Que sigamos aprendiendo!

Todo es verdad lo que dice Luca. Cuando llega el momento de hablar en castellano con alguien pierdo mucho tiempo buscando palabras en mi mente que si conozco pero no me salen naturalmente. Es mucho mejor usar las palabras básicas que ya has usado mucho y no preocuparse o tener miedo de parecer tonto.

Me gustaría escribir lo qué realmente siento en este momento después de verlo el vídeo podcast pero por falta de las fuerzas no soy capaz de hacerlo lo siento mucho 🙏🥲fue un gran placer y honor poder escucharos nuevamente Pau y Luca me habéis regalado una gran sorpresa, sonrisa ☺️ y esperanza. when do these comprehensible input people actually say to practice speaking though, they all say the same just keep listening to input but at what point do you actually recall the information and speak it. because conjegating verbs on the fly is not easy without practice.

That's true. I learned verb conjugation in school. The last time I dealt with grammar for Spanish was in college. And it's definitely different. I had English classes and grammar courses. Most of the Spanish I know is from building relationships with people and picking up grammar conjugation naturally. Even though I had Spanish courses as long as I had English. The fact that american English is more widely used...my Spanish retention and comprehension is just more strong. I have to constantly connect and watch videos to practice. Someone long ago told me reading books out loud helps. I would have to buy more novels in Spanish. Or find audios online.

Generalmente estoy de acuerdo con Luca… pero mucho depende también, qué idioma aprendes ;) Tuve mala experiencia con alemán… cuándo cometía errores gramaticales con personas alemanoparlantes, siempre cambiaban la lengua a inglés sin preguntar, si es mejor para mí o no ;( Por eso, si aprendes alemán, tienes que dominar un poco de principios gramaticales (por lo menos, es mi experiencia)

Me encantaría escuchar a una persona que había aprendido un idioma de esa manera.

Por un político mejicano (también es correcto escribirlo así) con ganas de protagonismo. El español no tenía el sonido jota, aparece hacia el siglo XVII y XVIII. Tenía un sonido que sonaba a sh y se escribía con X, como Quixote, Xavier, Xerez, Xuarez, caxa o páxaro. Cuando se desarrolló el sonido jota, esas palabras se seguían escribiendo con equis y en otros casos con Y, (yaguar, Guadalayara o Tiyuana) En 1814 se decidió tomar una letra en desuso, la I mayúscula (J) y usarla para representar ese nuevo sonido: Méjico, Guadalajara, Tejas, Jimena, Jerez, Quijote, pero en México o Méjico andaban con la independencia y desde la presidencia como reivindicación nacionalista se defendió que dos palabras: Méjico y Tejas, siguiesen con la grafía antigua, la RAE y muchos mejicanos dijeron que no y lo escribieron con jota, pero al final se convirtió en una señal de identidad, aunque tenga el mismo sentido que escribir Benito Xuarez (nombre real original)

would i be waisting my time learning spaniard spanish if im trying to communicate with Mexicans? i live in california. i was going to invest in the guest speakers resources but i dont want to waste my time or money if its not the same spanish. i keep hearing mixed opinions on it

Pau es mexicana. Este canal tiene una mezcla de dialectos. Siendo honesto, hay un montón de contenido en KZread hecho por mexicanos.

…. this is like asking… would i be wasting my time learning “american english” on sesame street if i’m trying to communicate with Brits or Ozzies…. 😅 there isn’t that big of a difference and it would be your loss not to expose yourself to different accents/ slang etc…. ps: you can watch the video “what is the difference between vosotros and ustedes” on this channel that covers your question

Could not like this video because of the second speaker. The completely hideous advice of trying to speak and listen to language without learning grammar and vocabulary is the opposite of success in learning language. I have BA in English philology and this is not how you learn languages. However, might be useful in selling people your pseudo scientific language courses and books to scam people off their money.
