I used to be a casino dealer. He's right, BJ is a streaking game. Increase your bet when it favors you, stop playing if the dealer keeps winning. The best players I ever dealt to had a few things in common. They NEVER veered away from basic strategy. Ever. They did not panic or get upset when they lost hands. They were not bothered by other player's bad playing, they concentrated on their own hands only. They did not attract attention to themselves. They were very polite and generous to their dealers

Makes sense. Gambling is an emotional activity. It pays to have an even keel. It is a streaky game and if the odds or streak is not in your favor simply walk away or don’t bet. Eventually the tables will turn and give you the best opportunity for success, but going head to head with the house is a bad idea.

I always thought the big house edge is that you have to make the first move. You break and the hands over, dealer doesn’t have to do anything. It’s not like they have to pull a card and if they also break it’s a push.

That’s true. That’s the only place the house edge comes from. But it’s not a big edge if you just play basic strategy.

Hugely underrated video, thanks very much for this.

There is a group out there who think basic strategy is phony and put out by casinos to make you think it'll help you, but instead make you lose more and faster. These people are "no bust strategy" people. They are the ones who got it wrong. But they will not let go of their very flawed system.

All this talk doesn't matter ..... its a rigged gamble ...there's no strategy !! The dealer will win with any damn card! The book don't matter! Automatic shuffle...manual shuffle.... or on the phone/computerized .... the dealer always get a 20 or 21 n or make a hand to win by 1.... I quit!!!!

Can you explain *why* the dealer has 7 chances and you only have 5? I didn't get that part.

Just learn to count cards. It's easier than you think to learn. And all the info to do it is right here on the internet for free.

I counted. At a full table. Running count was 18...with probably 2 decks left true count approx 9. No one else at that table knew. I knew. I bet heavy. Didn't matter. Those are the table ..some of them won...some of them lost...without even knowing the count. I knew the count. I bet heavy on those hands. I still only won half of them. Being able to count...counting...knowing the count...and betting heavy when it's high...still results in roughly 50% win rate. I lose more when I have a high count, bet more, and still end up losing.

As someone who loves blackjack not gambling i hate when its manipulated to hit the house instead of the player

Yeah but the 2 and 3 shouldnt be considered btrak cards, I mean unless you hit on a 18,19 or 20???? Those should be considered decision double down cards (with the odds anyway. Companied with those cards you in alot of ways (again odds) you most likely have an 7, 8,9,10, or a shot at blackjack hoping that next card is a face... Giving 17,18,19,20,or BJ. And if it gives u a 12, 13 or 14 well you just hit and cringe.... Gambling

You can and will win at blackjack if you learn basic strategy, count cards, vary your bet size accordingly, and utilize strategy deviations. Over the long run, and with a proper bankroll, you are basically guaranteed to make money. Much of this guy’s advice is incorrect.

@@sora1804 why the “lol”? Personally, I played full time for almost 2 years in the mid 90s. When all was said and done, I had made just under $18 an hour, which was not nearly enough to sustain me, so I called it a day. A change of scenery would have helped but I wasn’t willing to move for it. Team play would also have helped but that wasn’t for me.

@@adamp2029 mit 90s kids had card counting, but with computer gaming there is no card counting, so I guess the closest to that that isn't considered hacking is guessing the code for the random function and seeing if they match up... interesting

what about negative progression betting? I'm not playing the odds of the cards in the hand I'm playing the odds of winning hands against losing hands. if I lose three hands in a row my odds of winning the next hand go up.

ive started being the bank/house at a small casino in ventura california. house edge normally 1 percent but it's more like 8-10 vs. bad players who do stupid stuff like stay on 14 vs. faces and aces.....see it all the time. Very profitable vs. these dummy marks

People do win at black jack, it is gambling but if you know how to bet then you can increase your odds, so I personally do not think this video is good simply because this guy lost money in Vegas or where ever. Read about Don Johnson who busted Casino's on black jack. Now on ALL games the casino the odds are in their favor but nothing like this guy presented unless he's talking over my head.

CLEARLY you don't understand Variance and Volitlity in Blackjack. You're probably down after 50 years of playing. You're playing the hit and run game. Hit a good streak and run. You're like a rodent or mice. Eventually you'll get caught by the trap. That's what the variance and volatility is there for. Sooner or later it will catch you. It's all about how you respond to it old man.

I been a dealer for 11 years and i am here to say. You can not win at blackjack without bonuses, unless you only play once and you manage to win. Bonus bets are the ONLY way to beat the house. Ive seen players like today. Get bonus after bonus and refuse to play them, then tell me the odds are you will loose on bonuses, and can win on blackjack if you play the basic strategy. The wizard of odds lost on my table and only won like 5 hands out of 30 minutes. Thats the guy you listen to when you play basic strategy. Most houses wont let you exceed your main bet on bonuses, thats because they dont want you winning on them. If playing blackjack you should ALWAYS match your main bet on the bonuses, that gives you many chances to jump ahead at any given time, and its the only way to beat the house. Most importantly TIP your dealer, bet for us on the bonuses, because we can and will destroy you on purpose just to get you off our table

What do you mean ‘destroy you on purpose?’. I tend to stay away from BJ because of the players who freak out when I don’t hit a 16 vs a King. GTFOH with your ‘odds and perfect strategy’ and ‘you’re screwing the table’ or ‘you gave the dealer the 7 he needed, you should’ve hit that 15’. Sometimes playing by the seat of your pants or just hoping the dealer busts instead of me is fun, too

I go to play BJ...everyone else plays side bets. I usually will if I hit BJ on $25. I'll get 3 $5's and a $2.50. I'll play side bets with that just to get rid of em .. But I don't play on all the time. Last time...I wasn't playing with them ..and I hit...would have hit 2 straight flushes that pay 270x. At $5, that's $1,350. I got 2 of these on 2 different tables about an hour apart. If I do that...instead of losing a few hundred...I'm up $2k.
