Why Would Someone Swap From 30 To 29 Splines? Find Out In This Video!

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

We run the Jeep ZJ 93-98 Grand Cherokee rear axles in most of our jeeps, mainly for the 4-link setup. So they have the dana 35 which is trash for off road and they have the Dana 44A which we have been running. Well with hundreds of Jeeps I managed to run out of axle shafts so we had to make a huge change. Maybe this is a smart decision!!

    Ya'll ever seen A factory track bar bracket cause death wobble? I got my engine installed plus the front bumper winch and Barnes steering gearbox brace and now i can't even get over 50 mph without it going nuts. It's got a 5in re lift and trailforged crossover heim joints steering kit and it happened all of a sudden. It's all new within 2100 miles. It never did it till the engine got installed and those sold motor mounts put in. I'm a mobile tech every day and I'm freaking tired of working on my rig. Nothing has real play in it but i think i can see the trackbar mount flex while having someone turn my steering wheel. Gonna figure out how to measure it and see i guess.

    A 29 spline 8.25 with 33s even 35s can handle some good abuse. With a rear disc brake conversion you can keep the axle from shooting out if it does break. This channel proves the capabilities of xjs without tons and tires pretty well. No need to spend 10k on axles that add a lot of weight and resistance for a stock 4.0.

    Hey man... i know those washers work.. i did it on my track bar years ago. But next time i do it.... im going to get a stick of 1" dom .250 thickness. Then cut it 1/4-3/8" length to weld on. It will be alot stronger and that stick of tubing will make a ton of those pieces

    What diffs would you recommend if one was sasing a 2000 s10 blazer. 35-37 tire

  • @TexasRedneck

    @TexasRedneck

    5 ай бұрын

    would depend on terrain and how you drive. To me, a 37" tire is right on the limit of a half ton axle. They are on the bottom of the smallest tire you should run on tons but at the top/max limit to run on say a dana 30 or even a dana 44(the old ones). If you trail ride and know how to use the gas pedal, you could be fine. If you go mudding then you can get away with a smaller axle. However, if you want to do rock crawling and you the gas pedal is either ON or OFF, then smaller axles wont last long lol. Fun to watch, but then sucks when you're replacing axle shafts and/or ring and pinions on the trail. I've seen a guy on 35s bust a ring and pinion on is TJ rubicon going up a steep rocky ledge and he loves the go pedal. I'm on a locked Dana 30 High Pinion(stronger than the low pinion found in 2000-2001 XJ and all TJs), and 33s for a long time, but I know when to let off the gas and when to keep in it. When you are gassing it and then all of a sudden you catch traction, that's when things break. Be it, bouncing up and down and then snap, or spinning on a ledge and then you slide into some dirt and you gain traction and then SNAP!
