@@wanders278 Yeah, people are over playing this a bit. They aren't being forced to upgrade, and when it finally is a good time to upgrade, they will almost certainly have the hardware required, and it's a free update, which is pretty generous. I'm also running Win11 now. My Win10 install automatically updated to it, and I have a i7 3930K from 2012. Everything is working just fine.

Well chances are Windows 11 will actually run on your PC. you might need to find a work-around for getting the OS onto your machine, but once it's on and running, it just runs, no special tricks needed. I did the exact same thing on my 7 year old desktop with the leaked version of Windows 11 and I didn't see any issues with it. but of course, I would rather stick with Windows 10 for now as I don't really want to use a pre-release alpha version of Windows 11 as my main OS

@@zirrow4585 it would trigger for the smallest things, the bios code to get back in was massive, changed like every day or something like that, getting the code required a 3rd party (I imagine calling into Microsoft would be the consumer equivalent). Since it’s hardware if something went wrong with it a new mb would be needed. Suspending the TPM to do work on the device was both unintuitive and too easy to do where someone who knows what they’re doing can bypass it. Again I hope they improved on it in the past 2 years I haven’t worked with TPM. I get that it’s supposed to block people from having their data stolen if they’re laptop gets stolen. But for home desktop users it’s kind of pointless. I had a feeling it slows down the read write speed since the entire hard drive is encrypted.

I heard in some KZread video that the TPM requirement is dictated by securing the system boot procedure in such a way that the system was loaded based on the keys stored in tpm by secure boot to prevent the system from loading malware that would try to hide from the anti-virus scanner - for security reasons it is good, but in my case updade do windows 11 is too "much fun", forcing me to replace all my good computers with new ones due to the tpm requirement, which these computers do not have because they are older than 3 years - for me it is absurd to pull on cash to buy a new - meeting the requirements - computer - maybe there is some conspiracy behind it - dill M $ with computer equipment manufacturers to drive them more sales? or something like that ..

Tell you what, if you are just going to use your PC for browsing the web and watching KZread, you can get it easily running with hardware like a Core 2 Duo E8400, 4GB of DDR2 RAM, and a HD 6450 or something. How? Well I've had used Windows 10 in the past just FINE on such a machine, only the load times for programs and startup time were high due to it being run on an HDD, swapping that with an SSD would have worked fine. Windows 11 can also work just fine on such hardware, if it wasn't for the ridiculous TPM requirement which honestly won't matter that much in the grand scheme of the things. Sure its a nice security feature, but it shouldn't be a requirement at all.
