Agreed, I played the finals when it 1st came out and I was confused, so I didn't give it a chance. But I started playing xdefiant a little and it sparked the flame to play FPS's then I remembered about the finals and tried it again. To be honest that's all I've been thinking about . No game is the same and there are so many varieties. I don't mind paying for the skins

I really want 3 things from season 3: 1) performance inprovements would be great, not sure whether it's even possible 2) Balance changes. Really 3) A reason to play. Oh and I like the idea of the game feeling like a game show. The customisation can go wild and the AI voicelines have so much more potential. I kinda forgot about VRS already, so yeah, they should improve them in some way. Honestly, I would like everything from this video implemented into the game. I REALLY expect something from season 3, because a few latest patch notes were not great

In an otherwise busy year for work and as a new dad, one thing I could rely on was hopping on the finals for a few hours a night on the weekends and play with my brother and a couple buddies; great gameplay and a lot of memories for such a short time being out

Yeah I spoke in a podcast on this before that I've noticed they keep changing the voices, even when you load into the practise range for example. The first time I heard Junes voice it actually felt pretty natural but now it just feels a little different. Maybe there's a lore reason why this is happening?

RE: CNS -- i think that CNS is kind of like the resistance that you see in the movie, "The Running Man". In that movie, there was a similar faction that was also trying to put the damper on the network for the games that were being played on the television network ICS. To me, it's interesting Meta, that from time to time, could be implemented. That said, I also agree that the gameshow should be fleshed out, as should the "athlete" aspect, as there are aspects of this game that could be seen as sport.

I likely WON'T be coming back until some changes are made. mainly, i just don't get the same excitement that i used to get when i played the game. I think this is mainly because of spawns as half the time you're spawned all the way across the map from the objective, plus the longer respawn times. it gives players less chances to take the cash out and its more running and waiting then actually playing the game, so the only way to consistently win and have fun is to be dominate on you opponents and not die. this is why people care so much about meta loadouts now, as they need the best setup to survive and kill their opponents consistently, which destroys the creativity and ability to play the game how you want of the game. it's the reason why medium and heavy are mainly used, as they bring high survivability to the team. i remember being able to movement perfectly to just barely steal the cashbox at the end of the game, but now that's literally impossible, and most of the time now i sit in a spawn completely across the map from the vault emoting, knowing there isn't a single chance in the universe that i will win. i think that people would care less about meta if the game was exciting to play like it was in the past, and they would have more chances to win using their own unique loadout. i don't even care about what the devs do with the meta, because most of the fun i got wasn't when i was shooting my gun, but rather when i was working together with my team to steal the vault, but now my team can't even get to the vault in time, let alone steal it. by capping players with a 26 second respawn time and a marathon to get to the cash box, the devs are literally limiting all the action that players could potentially bring to the game. that same excitement was also nerfed when defib was given that weird respawn timer effect, as rather then being able to change the tide of the game instantly by bringing back your teammate, now you just have to watch then slowly spawn only to die immediately. yes, i understand though that it needed a nerf, but i think that making defib a special ability rather then a gadget would be way better of a nerf. to summarize, when i play the game now it just feels very monotone; there are no clutch plays, and usually and the best team most of the time just dominates the others, meaning that everyone else has to wait for respawn and run just to get one more chance at the cash box. if i wanted to play that style of a monotone competitive game where the best player and loadouts win, i would play a game like call of duty, but i don't. if you want that even more summarized..."The finals, a gameshow that is mainly centered around excitement, is having the action that creates excitement bottlenecked". also if i was to add back these shorter respawn, i would only add it to causal, like quick cash, as competitive player would likely get winy about it. this would mean that casual player can play in quick cash for a action packed experience, and competitive can play in competitive to show their skill, allowing for both sides of the community to have fun. if anyone read through this, thank you very much and feel free to flame me down in the replies lol. 🤣 Edit: this is not to flame the devs or anything, as i think that the game is definitely improving and the devs are putting a lot of care into the game, especially with ranked getting a smaller server size, but this is just the main issue i have with the game at the moment.

Hooollyyy wall of text lol, I gotchu though I like reading what everyone has to say aha. Yes I agree that the respawns in this game need a massive overhaul. Something crazy, literally last night we had a cashout active, got wiped but it wasn’t stolen due to third parties, and we spawned even further away from it, closer to the other cashout that was active lol. Yes that’s my point with the games state right now, if you get started do a few games etc, there isn’t really also any player interaction it’s almost as if you’re forgotten in the game, no “hey this sponsor wants to sign you” or “you’re starting to make a name for yourself out there” etc. I think the crowd should react a lot more to what’s going on in the game too, like imagine hearing ooooooooooOOOOOOOOO as you’re trying to steal or something, especially when you’re about to clutch that would go hard

One match the cash out was in the elevator (my favorite) but the teams were focused and they were good. We had lost the first cash out and desperate for that sweet sweet cash. Pushed by 2 teams we went from floor to floor fighting it out as the time ticked. Me in the vents protecting the vault and my teammates being absolute Chads out in the open. They manage to wipe a team but the 3rd party clap one of my friends, the other, after a desperate attempt to save the fallen, runs back to the safety of the elevator. The doors close but he didn’t hit the button. The elevator rides up as I urge him to climb up the ladder to me. The doors open and a fresh squad find an empty elevator.… it was over before they even realized what had happened. We stood there behind them, 2 contestants with a perfect ambush. Moments like these make the game for me.

Heal beam bug definitely happens on pc too. Not often for me at least, but I had it like 2 nights ago in middle round of a tourney. Started working again when final round loaded.

Why? Because I never stopped playing. This is the best FPS to come out in years, and people are seriously sleeping on this game. They've made so many great changes and updates to this game. It just gets better and better. I can't wait to see where this game goes in the future! I'm seriously pumped for season 3 to see what they do!

I would watch the crap out a twitch rivals tournament for the finals. Ever since cb1 ive always seen this game as a competitive one and i cant wait for the finals esports to really become a thing. Next season's gonna be huge!

Yeah I'm kinda sad that I won't get to participate in it, but I'm still happy that it's going ahead as it's a cool thing for the game :)

The reason ill continue playing is because they only 2 season in and absolutely killing it. I see huge potential for the future. This is one the only games as of late that actually feels like, a bunch of computer science nerds working on a game (which is when games were good) rather than a bunch of 40 year old men in suits in a conference room discussing how to raise their stocks.

It is fun. It's a great game to play on the side of my main games when i need a break with the grind. Also, the customization, i absolutely love with how as the game goes on i see more and more unique characters. Maxed Bp, all circuits done, so far all events completed.

Season 2 was a good season we got new stuff and a map that became one of my top 3 favorite maps but there was a small moment where the game was boring then we got terminal and i had fun again and im excited for season 3 and the new stuff coming

Tbf, if we really get a spectator (the fact that the Twitch rivals is happening makes it one hell of a hint) then we as creators / competitive players would be able to start rolling tournaments for everyone. The state of the game is good, what we need is marketing and the spectator mode along with a good ranking system to give people a goal to achieve in the long term. Also, as a dev (made overlays/discord bots to show your rank in TF), I would like to see more data being usable by us. So that we would enhance the experience for everyone. I'm still a believer in the game, hope that season 3 checks most of the marks !

100% couldn't agree with you more, I think that we have a really nice solid foundation of a game here, sure there are some things annoying on a deeper level (balance etc) but really I think we can get over it most of the time, it's not like anything is completely busted etc, just kind of annoying. But yeah I'm a real nerd too for the data side of things, I'd love to even see an expansion on stats :D

Healing beam bug also happens on pc. I’ve only had it happen twice though and it fixed itself in game. The sprint bug still happens and that’s quite frequent

7:16 healing beam is issue in pc too. It even extends throughout entire ranked matches as you progress - so annoying

Good recap and definitely agree with the points you made on this video. Had fun this season and completed the battle pass + all weekly circuits. Although my question of committing to season 3 will be the new content + community events going forward. I love the game, but it has been feeling stale in a sense. Which is normal if you play a game over a longer period of time. For competitive, I'd say taking Overwatch 2's approach of having multiple game modes on rotation would be a great compromise. Allowing more variety in the gameplay, but also not further splitting the player base. Bug wise, I have had guns and healing beams not firing (I'm on PC btw). But it's been rare, yet still frustrating. My biggest issue is the handling of balance which you highlighted. As a light main, I'm starting to feel its redundant to play light if you want to win. I love playing light because of the skill expression the class gives. But being outclassed balance wise hurts my experience. It still hurts when the unique gadgets of other classes feel much more potent. I want to be able to contribute to my team and make plays, but I have to work way harder than I would with just medium, healing beam and defibs. Hope to see you pump out more great content this next season!

Awesome summary! Yes I agree with you, content and events are that variety that really makes a game feel fresh, especially when we have rewards to do those things. I think Embark need to focus on the events in Season 3, because they were pretty fun like the smoking guns one we had. Also I honestly think light should get a complete rework to this character, either that or some gadget to help light keep up with the metas right now for sure. I love that light has that “easy to play hard to master” aspect for sure :) see you in Season 3!!

Healing beam issue is not a console only issue, it comes in PC day to day 😕 and you also get this issue when the firing button doesn't work & starts working when either you die or kill someone with utilities

I've had the healing bug on pc a few times in the past, but I don't think it's related to the healing beam itself, when you try to grab arena carriables too fast while doing other actions, it sometimes bugs and locks you in holding them without them being in your hand, they somehow disappeared and the game waits for them to be in your hand, so when you switch back to a weapon or gadget or spec, you can't actually left click, until the carriable either decides to go back to its original position, or finally come in your hand. I don't know if it's been fixed because I've had it happen seldom lately, but yeah, it happened in the past.

Term attach ranked should add a sapphire or deep emerald color rank. You can hit “ruby” or Diamond in cash out the. Go for emerald in term attack.

i think the lore potential for the finals is massive, really excited to see where it goes

I’ve had that healing beam bug, but on everything. Grenades would do the sound effect, animation, voice line, everything except actually doing the action. Same with the weapon, gadgets and the special. I did not stop playing though, I love this game 😭 but these bugs have been happening pretty often

Ngl, I love this game a lot. Movement shooters have always been my favorite.

I'm a full time casual player. I almost never really do ranked. Embark didn't fail to deliver. I liked the new free cosmetics with the circuits, I hope those stay, and the events are fine. They always have free cosmetics tied to them too (wild west, easter, terminal attack), so there isn't anything for me to complain about with there. On top of all of that, the community events for everyone to earn some cosmetics too were great!

Ayyy hell yea awesome to hear! And I’m with you on that, I’m more of a competitive player but I value the casual side of games a lot so I’m always looking out for that experience too, especially with my friends playing. I think they would agree with you that this was a solid season :)

My thoughts on balance is more game modes and variety is a good thing. It would divide the player base, but as long as a weapon is good somewhere its fine. The SAS12 shotgun might be horrible in powershift, but good elsewhere and that's fine. Not every weapon can be balanced in every mode, but weapons can't be broken in a mode.

Yeah I agree with that, I do think that sometimes players do over-react a lot initially to changes, without actually trying it out. For example, the heavy mesh shield nerf. Sure it was nerfed but it’s still pretty decent lol

I kinda get burnt out when I finish the season's pass, but after the short break, I'm always glad to sneak my way back in, regardless of the questionable balancing decisions.

There is a healing beam bug on pc too where some matches your healing beam just won't work There is a glitch with the riot shield where after a trigger which seems to be related to sliding, for the rest of the match any time you pick something up your shield is held in front of you obscuring your view Those are the two bugs I have encountered but game is still fun so I'm still playing

heal beam bug is not console only. My brother and I play on PC (he uses a PS5 controller so maybe it's a controller problem?) and it happens to him so often that he stopped using the heal beam altogether.

I just started back playing. And honestly, I might as well stay with it. I stopped playing back in December. I forgot how freaking fun it is

Yeah I think a lot of players played the game when there was many issues that have now been fixed, also burning out whilst playing a game still technically in development can be frustrating, but now where the game is, and is going to go, this is something special.

I bet embark is just having the multiple game modes to see what draws people in. Problem is how different the game modes are and their balance requirements for weapons/gadgets. Hopefully with season 3 they will trim down/consolidate. When we do get new game modes, they should rotate in and others should rotate out.

It would be cool if we could vote on what the community rewards are for a season. Would you imagine the hype of the frog set was part of the community event? Not that I’m particularly excited for it, I’m more happy that the community got what they wanted, but doing something similar for the community events would be more powerful imo

It's far from perfect right now but the devs have been so consistent in fixing and balancing everything that they deserve all the credit of a successful game. I think they can add some in game event or i don't what it's called like slow motion mode or bounty hunter that it target's the player with best scores in combat and elinimations for all pf the players in game and by killing hin they can get some money instantly.

All 3 modes should be competitive. Tounaments could consist of all three - would be sick. Rich with strategy/team and player strengths and weaknesses.

Now I gotta grind out all those challenges last minute (Now that I’m don with finals I can play THE FINALS)

I agree with the matter of the finals losing the gameshow aspect of it, and terminal attack being a good option for a ranked mode. My idea was to bump every game mode to 5v5 and have the tournament be a gauntlet of game modes that have to be fought this would actually help with things like stagnant metas and team diversity because you have to pack into the ranked with a loadout that can actually run the gauntlet like a medium could use a heal beam but the moment they run into a terminal attack they have no specialization, Lights would be more common with modes like bank it, power shift and terminal attack being always in play the only thing that is consistant across the game modes is the heavy and thats where they could focus nerfs once they have variety up.

There's an idea that I have. For a player like me who likes to play dress-up, an extra character slot would be a huge driving force to purchase the battlepass as we create more and more characters with different outfit and loadout. This is the only game out of so many others that got me to spend real money on just cosmetics, and that should say something about how skins are designed for this game. 100% I think they are looking into giving players more room for expansion in this area too, more outfit slots are needed!

i really enjoyed the closed beta, open beta, season 0, and season1, but in season 2 after they made some buff to the weapons, i wasnt able to play properly anymore thats why i left the game and started playing xdefiant, but maybe s3 is goona be good i hope to return to it

i joined the game in the last 2 weeks of season one. i’ve liked season two but miss the initial game show vibe that got me hooked.

I currently cant play Finals :c I always crash from a Directx12 failure. i hope they fix it soon

me too. after the update 2.10.4. the game crashed always when it came to the lobby

For VR i was thinking of a way to buy color swaps for outfits, so you have to buy the outfit with multibucks then you can buy the color swaps for like 2000 each

man i tried to go play warzone after some Finals burnout kicked in... it just felt so dated....the finals really is next gen

What do you think about the idea of players having the option of playing cashout or TA after reaching the finals, on a sort of rotation?

Hmmm, I’m not sure because at the end of the day, most players want consistency with how they grind for something, and if they’re solo queuing for example with 3 players on their team but it could be a shout

It would be cool of tournaments had mixed game modes. Some cashout, some terminal attack, some whatever they add in the future (but not power shift or bankit)

@@THiiXY maybe! I know that halo ranked is a playlist of multiple modes, perhaps tournaments could have a different mode each round

I think that a twitch rivals is key for the game to become more mainstream as if shrouds viewers only saw the game in s1 when it was a bit jack they’ll think the same thing without giving the game a chance however if he or someone else streams the game in its current state they might play the game and see it for what it is

Yeah I think Shrouds opinion of the game was pretty harsh - but I understand because THE FINALS Season 1 really felt like a beta still with all the server issues etc. I think his opinion would actually change over time!

I completely agree with what you said about the horizon map doesn't feel like were in this big stadium competing in this big tournament. i hope they make the horizon mad into such a map, when CNS has been pushed back or whatever. ALSO - all the destruction is the reason why i felt in love with the game. building falling apart right over hour head. In horizon the building parts just vanish :i i am NOT a fan of that map in terms of overall feel. Great video as always ^^

Thanks Ray! And yeah I think honestly it will expand into something more, I can see horizon evolving mixing with the lore :)

They should add a game mode rotation for ranked, between terminal and cashout, (rotation like in apex)

The Finals is an underrated beast. I do hope it climbs back. I have returned for S3 and here to stay, bought the BP!

I love this game, i think the vr situation could be solved if we could buy weapon accessories maybe? Say you level up the gun then you can spend some hundred vrs on extra

Yeah that’s also a cool solution, I think VRs definitely need some sort of rework though

All I have been wanting since launch is some performance optimizations. We shouldn't have to upgrade our CPU's just to get "ok" fps. Each update seems to lower fps every time.

I had the healing beam bug twice on pc IN RANKED 😭😭

I was addicted to the finals when it first came out. I stopped playing when they nerfed nukes and the heavy class shield/rpg. Played once or twice during season 2 but couldn't have fun with the nerfs. Probably won't be back for season 3 unless they bring the balance back to how it was in season 1 but still probably won't even if they fix that. So stupid that a heavy can 1 shit themself with an RPG but not a light class.

The terminal attack mod is awesome, it feels competitive unlike ranked tournament but I wish it had more work done to it, just the clutter and getting stuck is unbearable

Couldn’t agree more with Embark over reaching when it comes to nerfing. The only reason the stun gun would be viable is to stop cash outs, other than that you’re better off running something else. Now the APS just became obsolete. Super strange how they test these things out and decide it’s balanced.

i don´t even know the content but i´ll, because it is simply the best shooter out there and the quality is superb!

personally i want to see them have an option for ranked with role queue HML (1 heavy, 1 medium, 1 light on each team). This will make balancing easier and takes away meta HHM, MMH, MMM which just crushes all but the very very best light players. They can keep the open queue for ranked that they currently have but not everyone enjoys playing with or against the current meta, and role queue would help with that.

@@THiiXY like i said, keep open queue for those who want the creativity and don't mind the meta, but create a role queue as well for those that like more balanced gameplay. Overwatch did the same thing and now most people exclusively play role queue.

I think for the APS, instead of consuming 40% make it 15% or 10%. It’s way more balanced and strong that way in my opinion, you’d still get 7 or 10 APS missiles depending on the 15% or 10%. And maybe, just maybe.. reduce the cooldown time a tiny bit.

I just love the game. The controls, the destruction, and everything. I'm the kind of person who can't just play one game forever, and the same can be said about The Finals, but I do come back when I can to play it, and I always enjoy it. I am definitely going to be playing a lot during the summer, though. The game definitely doesn't get the love/popularity it deserves, but this is kind of the developers' faults. They really should go all in for marketing. I feel like they need to really up their game in marketing techniques so that their stuff gets pushed out a lot. Maybe try putting something slightly controversial to gain an audience (like having a black guy in a chicken suit for a trailer, for example). Or just make something generally funny, as those kinds of things tend to gain popularity (for example, Palworld advertised guns and slavery, and look at its success). Also, I understand it's hard to make maps for a game like this, but they really should spend a lot of time doing that so that the game has more diverse gameplay. I genuinely love this game, and want it to become the best version of itself and achieve success. I hope they go crazy with Season 3 and blow up (or at least blow up sometime in the near future). But one more thing is, PLEASE give Scottie and June better lines, at the very least. I wish they would give better voice lines to them, as well as having them be voiced by real people as opposed to AI. The voice lines should be fixed, but honestly, I won't complain about the AI. Sure, it could sound better, but typically it's pretty good, and I know it'd be a lot more expensive for them to use real VAs.

Yeah some of the AI voice lines have been getting worse on quality personally, I spoke about this in a podcast and I really hope it improves. Sometimes is really feels like AI and kind of halters that experience, but that’s me going a bit too deep into it I guess. Whatever happens, I’m with you in that I hope Season 3 is gonna be a huuuuge one
