    I was in Cincinnati, at the motor cycle show in I think 1988 and larry walked into the bar and i was sitting with 15 people in the motor cycle industry, I said that is the fastest man in the world. I bought him a drink and he was so nice and humble. The whole table did not know who he was, they did by the time he left.

    McBride does a burnout on 3 cylinders I believe, a throttle stop is involved usually as well like most other teams run.. but you can see them flipping the switch on and off for it and I think it's just an ignition control deal (as well as less fuel and all that since there's no real load on the engine, etc.) There are a couple of videos where they talk about it a little bit, but not in as much detail - maybe Jack will reply to your comment and fill you in but it's a great way to control heat and load on the engine and clutch prior to the run. With how long the McBride's have been running blown fuel bikes and the people that they get assistance from like Bill Miller, etc. they have a lot of technology continually implemented, but most importantly properly implemented. Digressing a bit, lol, but sometimes you see certain teams/owners, etc. stop innovating or running well at a certain age, rule change, etc. for a variety of reasons but NOT them and I love that because if they want other teams to be competitive so it allows for other teams that have improved performance and also allows them to keep raising the bar and bring a larger sponsor and fanbase to these bikes...and hopefully more competitors! :-) I worked on Top alcohol cars, Pro mods in Top Fuel for a number of years - but not the bikes. As a side note I'm recovering from a concussion so I drug this comment out and derailed it a little bit LOL -- but feel free to ask anything and I'll try to answer it if you'd like 😊

  • @dmeemd7787

    @dmeemd7787

    When something breaks, it's usually related to the motor-like when the bride was backpedaling the biking 2015 I believe, big fireball and got his legs pretty good and trashed the chassis. But there is a video on here of another guy on a pro fuel bike, carbureted Nitro Harley class, where he managed to save it when the wheel split in half down the middle where the weld connects the two halves, so if you were looking at the bike from the back, the weld around the inner circumference of the rim is what fractured and he managed to save it with very minor injuries. Another common thing is for parts to hit people in the chest and so on, hence why they were the protective chest gear they do, etc. Incidents used to be worse it seems like in the not too distant past, which is where I think they should stay based on teams helping each other and giving them information on how long they should run parts for and so on, which hopefully help prevent nuisance failures and especially catastrophic ones. I also can't get enough Top Fuel or anything that runs on Nitro LOL - - and even though I love methanol burning engines, popular Nitro in general have a special place, as they should :-)
