Why we Upgrade Parts: Installing a Sub Woofer | AnthonyJ350
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Adding a sub really enriches your driving experience. If you don't have a sub woofer you're missing out on a lot of music. The sub woofer can produce sounds a normal speaker can't. We install an interesting setup in our 2005 Honda Civic that might be appealing to some people that want something that doesn't take up too much space.

@@AnthonyJ350 ahhhh maybe next would be a four channel amp for the satellites lol Hertz Dieci 4x6s up front, Dieci 6x9s in the back still on deck power (I know I could go Energy but there's no 4x6 in that series and I'm not all that good with custom fitting speakers)but that's a Alpine CDE-HD149BT...fully crossed over AND level set oddly thanks Alpine! Yeah I can crank it up nice thanks to how efficient the speakers are, but you know... all want...more! And yes I have upgraded the ground already and you'd be right in guessing it's a GM car. I installed a dual terminal battery and added a top post ground cable that terminates directly to the body. Old trick I used way back in a very similar car. Also come to think of it...other than the stupid interconnect from the deck to the amp at the moment, the whole system was purchased at Visions.
I like the fact these are hidden from view when I leave my car somewhere.

Yes, there's a built in crossover and I believe you can high level in. Please verify in the instructions.
Thanks for the cool video. Ive bought a blaupunkt underseat active sub with the same cable harness as this alpine unit (power, ground, remote, speakers all in this harness). I am a noob at this. What would be the best way for me to connect the power wire from the battery to the subwoofer's harness? Do I need a power distribution block? Do I splice? I really want to do this the proper way. I don't think so, it does have it's limitations. A custom enclosure with a JL Audio TW10 would do the trick for you.
If I were to fabricate a bracket, would there be any issues with mounting it to the underside of the seat instead of the floor under the seat?
@AnthonyJ350

You can do that. I would apply blue thread lock to the seat bolts when you reinstall them.
Great video! Is there a reason you put another fuse on the line that connects to the battery? It already has a 15 amp fuse connected to it on the wiring harness, seems redundant. Just curious if I should bother with a second fuse myself. Thanks.

We use ABS plastic substrates under the carpet and glues to avoid making holes. You can also grab 1/2 plywood, paint it and do the same thing.
Would this type of sub woofer make sense in a bigger vehicle, such as in a van?

@AnthonyJ350

You could. Just need to make sure you have enough power and the appropriate gauge wiring.
I have one of those Alpine units and initially a blue led light was on when it was switched on. Recently, this led light has stopped working although the sub itself is working. Reading the manual, apparently the led light should be on when it is working so not sure why mine isn't. Does yours have this led?

What do you think about the blaupunkt GTHS80 8' 300W or Rockville SS8P 8" 400W?
@AnthonyJ350
3 жыл бұрын
I don't have any experience with those products so I can't say.
They would be good for midbass, have 4 of them under the seats and like 2 12's in the back. You would definitely need better door speakers and a amp to push them but it should do well to pick up the midbass frequency void between the door speakers and subwoofers.

You could either split the RCAs using a y-splitter or use a DSP.
What is meant by competition sound? Like obnoxious levels of noise? I think personally I would go as far as I could so long as the panels of the car aren’t vibrating.
@AnthonyJ350
3 жыл бұрын
"Competition sound" is an over used term because most people don't realize you're spending over $10,000 for that kind of system. But some people think a $2,500 basic system is Competition sound. Most people just need a little bass like this setup or a 10" sub in a sealed box.

Get a Ground Zero gzrb16SPL if you seriously find space at a premium but, you want more output than an under-seat subwoofer. The output is very comparable to a single 300-watt 10-inch sub in a sealed box. But, I wouldn't mind the space that a Fi Neo 3.5 12 inch sub in a 1.4 gross cubic foot enclosure would take up though.
