I get soooo much flack from my friends n family for not being a “travel junkie”!! I love to be home, creating recipes and building up the garden/homestead. It’s awesome that everyone is different and we should celebrate that!

i feel the same way. i catch tons of grief for not wanting to leave. and, when i do leave, i can't wait to come back
I had an uncle who would not travel. He was in WWII. He served in Africa, Italy, France and Germany. Maybe more. He said when he was there he swore that if he was lucky enough to make it home he would never leave again. He stayed true to that. He never left his little town in Alabama for the rest of his life.

My uncle Carl was a medic in Italy, WW2 he was gone 37 months the war was over for a month before he came home he had to ride a slow boat home, daddy and his family though Carl was dead, they were glad when he came home! He never went any where after that! Told to me by my Dad many years ago! God bless you

I am the same way now! When I was a younger woman, I rode my Harley all up and down the east coast. Many times. alone. My husband and I loved seeing new places. Now that I'm 63 and retired, I don't wake up thinking "where do I want to go today?" I wake up thinking about my garden, canning and preserving, my animals, picking blueberries and blackberries, what to cook for dinner, all the simple things. It stresses me to go to the grocery store now. Can't wait to get back HOME. God is so good, and I feel so blessed by His provision.

How can I travel with two 100-pound dogs? Really not leaving them. Catch lots of crap for not going. I used to travel and liked it back then.. now days not so much just causes me anxiety to drive 2 hours to my brother's house.

i DON'T travel because i'm a TOTAL HOMEBODY!!!!!! i'm perfectly happy in my home 🏡!!!!!
Travel by plane is nothing like it used to be. It used to be special and people treated it as such, dressing nicely and behaving. Now planes are generally cattle-cars in the sky. IMO. I like to travel, but TOTALLY get what you're saying and share similar feelings about all you mentioned. I wish there were more people like your people. THANK YOU for this, girls. ❤❤ This is from an 84 yr. old lady who absolutely agrees with everything you said about traveling. Love and blessings to you both.
My family lives in Panama City Florida and I am in S.C.born and raised in the Upstate of S.C. about 20 miles from western NC. I was always so happy to come around the curve and see my horse's on the pasture, and I would be in tears when I saw my home. I'm so happy to hear that I'm not the only one who feels like this. Used to travel, via plane, for two weeks out of each month for work. . I did this for a number of years. I have traveled all throughout the United States and some in Europe. All included multiple days in hotels . That being said, as the old song says. You'll find your Castle in Spain neath your window pane back in your own back yard. You'll find your happiness lies right under you eyes, back in your own back yard. Katie , you ain't no baby. You're a strong woman that knows her own mind and your viewers love you for it. I love being home. For the most part, groceries and church is plenty of traveling for me. At age 30 I've only been on four holidays and perhaps one will be nice now, but for the most part I love my desk, my bed, by books and my garden.

What a breath of fresh air... Sick of hearing about how everyone just wants to travel
I'm a home body too. I've had some awful travel experiences and I so enjoy just staying home especially nowadays with so many wackadoos out there. Everyone has their own opinion and I thank you for sharing yours. God bless.😊
Traveling is exhausting, expensive, stressful. All that prepping, packing and unpacking. I especially dislike airports; they are so stressful, especially since 9/11. I lost my husband in the airport on the way to Jamaica. I cried. Lol. Travelling by vehicle feels like it takes forever. It’s difficult, if not impossible, to take your pets😢 It’s hard on children. I travelled in the 80’s by air and it was sooooo much nicer then. I am sorry you girls missed that time. I am 62 now and I love being home, sitting in front of the TV and watching The Pressley Girls and Celebrating Appalachia. I travel to North Carolina every time I watch you and it is wonderful. ❤❤❤❤
The older I’ve gotten, the state of crime, etc the less I enjoy traveling and I enjoy being at home. I have my head on a swivel just going to local stores etc. Katie I agree with you 100% with your feelings about the subject. You both are awesome.
I’m glad that there are two other people like me! I have always felt like a weirdo, but I hate traveling in this busy world. I have nerves like a rabbit. I love the destination, but I hate the getting there.

I can understand. As a french, i travelled in europe, asia, parts of the Us, caribbeans among some other trips. I met my wife in japan while travelling by bicycle, but i enjoy less tourism /classic travels, i am fed up with polluting planes, crowded places, i never liked guesthouses or hotels, which always seem to me not a natural way to travel or live. I can still enjoy some forms of wandering or "more natural" ways to travel, such as bicycle trips, or by sailboats, since i am a sailor. But i appreciated more and more to live peacefully, and we can find freedom in many ways, not just in the frenetic tourism. The first freedom is in our mind
Girls, you definitely are not alone ~ I feel exactly the way that you do about traveling! The older that I get, the more I don't want to be around crowds, fly or stay in hotels. I think that a little motor home is going to be the way to go for me in the future! Thanks for being so willing to share your honest feelings, as always! Please continue making these videos!

Go and don't come back😂
I don’t know why, but I’m really surprised on your views regarding travel. There’s a whole world out there waiting to be explored. 🌎😊
I live in a condo building right by the river. There is a beautiful outdoor pool and garden. Summers are very nice in Montreal and I totally avoid travelling from may to October. People are always asking if and where we’re going to travel during the summer months. I always say that we’re staying home. We have everything nearby, golf course, lakes, mountains, amazing bike trails, the city is beautiful during the summer. I have travelled quite a bit in the past and I’ve realized that being at home is the best. Travelling for me will be limited to warm places to avoid some of the winter.
My parents bought me National Geographic as a child. So I've spent most of my life dreaming of travel. But we were poor, so our only family vacation (1962?) was once from south Florida to Highlands, NC. I remember walking under some large waterfall fairly close to Cullowhee. Spent 10 years on submarines in the Arctic. I just left the Virginia area after 30 years, retiring to Wyoming. It's so peaceful. I plan to explore the wilderness and the Rockies for my final years on earth. But when I finally get home, I'm perfectly happy relaxing, cooking and engaged with my hobbies.
I LOVE to TRAVEL, but I’m also a major HOMEBODY! Sounds like a contradiction but for me it means I’m happy at home, I’m an introvert, I love baking, cooking, gardening, crafting… all things done at home. But I sure enjoy seeing new places, love road-trips, flying, trains, cruises, camping, renting nice vacation homes, staying in plush hotels… Lol I LOVE IT! Btw, I usually travel alone and so I only go when & where I want when weather is just right and everything lines up easy breezy. I carry a peacemaker when I’m not taking public transit.
You both are so precious. I don’t enjoy airplane traveling anymore. It used to be fun, but since TSA, it is annoying. It is fun to see beautiful places and meet new people. Also, lots of people seem to like our southern accents. When a lady in Philadelphia looked at me like I wasn’t smart, I told her “Just because I talk slow doesn’t mean I am slow!” Then she laughed with me.
I never want to go to the ATL airport again. It was complete chaos, I had no idea what I was doing, where to go. I got yelled at and told to keep walking when the dog was searching everyone...I was so nervous I didn't even realize there was a search dog until it was right beside me, I was confused. And when I stepped into their machine it went off and I got searched, but I had nothing in my pockets.
Totally agree Now a days no one is safe anywhere anymore Even at a local store Too much madness anymore I don’t even watch the News on TV
Boy did I need to hear this. I was the same way traveling. Now I am so content to be home and bloom on my corner!
Thank u girls. I havnt laffed so hard in a long time. P S...Katie will be ok, because many of us are praying for her!❤

I so love you two. Don't be embarrassed about how you feel ever! Traveling is very stressful. I remember my first plane trip alone. I was 29 and it was a business trip. I was late to the airport and when I got to where I was going I did the worst thing. Sooo embarrassed. Home is always the best place to be. The only thing that helps me is praying. When I get in the car to go anywhere I ask God to help me not do anything stupid and not let me get near anyone who is doing anything stupid. Then I relax and trust Him.

That’s good advice, thank you.
Each time I watch one of your discussion videos, you both become more and more endearing. Yall are both hilarious! Katie is a hoot!
Your video pretty much summed up my whole travel experiences. I am now 52 and the thought of travel put my stomach in knots. I have travelled in the past but I can honestly say I never really enjoyed it and some of my trips cost plenty. There is nothing like your own home comforts, bed, toilet, kitchen and I have about 50 books beside my bed and reading is my greatest pleasure. There is no place like home.
I think it's a happy balance. No one that's been to other countries can even describe them to someone who hasn't. I feel like if you never go "across the pond", you really miss out on some spectacularly magic places and people in your life. Yes! getting there is rough sometimes, but oh so worth it! I also love being home. Good thing we don't have to pick one or the other totally.
I totally agree with you! Airports are the worst.
I love ya'll, my sentiments exactly. A big thing with me is germs in hotels or just bad vibes. Ya never know what happened in a hotel room previously.....
Totally agree! I’m someone who’s very content with being at home. My anxiety with traveling is traffic. Then, there’s the cost and crowds. I try to enjoy it but, I just can’t relax and I don’t feel like it’s worth it. If someone has the opportunity to travel, good for them. Go and have fun. Me, I’m just fine and don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything. Love you sweet ladies. God bless y’all! 😀❤️
I will not fly, thats for sure. I dont get the notion to go anywhere much. Except drive through the mountains in the fall and look at the beautiful colors and everything God has created for us to enjoy. If i had everything that surrounds you all i would be perfectly content to stay right there. Not that im not very grateful i have a home. I just love the beautiful mountains and outdoors. And your chickens. They are so cute. Reminds me my aunts place. Lots of farm animals I love. ❤️🙏😥😊 I agree with you all 100% I love my clean, familiar surroundings. It's hard for me to go places without my own comfort zone. I wish I could afford an RV. That would be great. They are really expensive.

I am a retired widow and was sad to leave my home every day..now that I am home I don't want to be anywhere else.
With you here in California, never get cabin fever! I want to be home. I am almost 80 and I have never been on an airplane and the horror stories of people that do fly, the airports etc. etc. does NOT give me any desire to go anywhere!! If we can’t drive to wherever then I don’t want to go. MOTELS….that’s another thing , it always seems like there are bed bugs or other critters, and I am not comfortable using glasses to drink nasty water that I don’t like because there’s no water like the water here in Vallejo, some people don’t like it but to me it’s the best❤
I used to take yearly trips, but I'm in my fifties now. I love my house, my wife, and my dog, I love my town and my church, I love my own cooking, and I have stayed in far too many sketchy hotels. My travel days are pretty much over. Thanks, and God bless!

I enjoyed flying and traveling in the 1980-1990’s, but not anymore. It used to be so much easier! It’s not fun now. We’re retired but I don’t have any desire to go anywhere!!! It’s not worth the stress. An Rv would be great but my husband refuses in our late 70’s now, to drive one. Can’t say I blame him!
I’ve always worried in a hotel that someone underneath will start a fire in the middle of the night. I hate staying on the top of a big hotel. I agree about the pew pew. And you girls are never rude. It’s not in your nature.
I agree... Traveling is a hassle! Unfortunately, it's a necessity at times. God bless you ladies! ❤
I'm with you. I don't like to travel. I'm kinda like Dorothy. There's no place like home and if you're looking for something and you can't find it outside your front door then you didn't lose it anyway. Love you girls and still praying for Miss Cindy and all of you.
I like my home base. If i want the ocean its 50 miles south. The mountains are 10 miles north. Lakes and Rivers are everywhere. The Four Seasons come to me. I dont have to travel to them. Hot Summers, Beautiful Autumns, A not too long Winter with some snow storms. And a beautiful Spring with flowers and beautiful lush green trees everywhere. If i want to see Europe i find it on KZread.

I feel so validated! I've traveled to many states and a number of countries and even have friends begging me to visit, but I feel the same things you do, and so prefer to "piddle (or putter) around the house"! I could relate so much at times I was laughing to the point of tears! Thanks for sharing!
I’ve traveled since my mom passed to find my “hometown”.. the feeling of my childhood .. but it’s always in the south 😊 But as a child - I NEVER wanted to spend the night away from home!
I just like being at home with my loved ones and garden. Stay-cations and day/overnight car trips suit me best. Large airports are sensory overload for me.
I love the way you are. You both embrace who you are and you know what you like and don't like. You don't allow others to cause you to change to fit in or please them. I have struggled with so many different situations. I am becoming more this way, like you if it doesn't work for me or someone else is in charge, I do not like it. I want my things and my choices to be mine and the Lord's alone. 😊
I understand your sense of feeling uncomfortable about traveling. The only thing I can tell you is that you are missing some of the world's great places. I've been to Italy, Croatia, Germany, and then in the USA, California, Michigan, Maryland, and other states. I remember standing in Rome and thinking "I'm standing where Julius Caesar stood". I'm glad you visited my home state of Massachusetts. Hang in there ladies, the world is a great and fascinating place. Much love.

With traveling i learned that if I ever go looking for my heart's desire again, I won't look any further than my own back yard. Because if it isn't there, I never really lost it to begin with.”
Just started watching yalls and your parents videos! The hubby and I love you guys! Don’t change, you be you! Can’t wait to see the babies!
I loved your video! I am a home body myself…I love being at home. I’m comfortable at home sleeping in my own bed, taking a shower in my own bathroom, etc. But I do enjoy having a vacation from time to time with my family but I’m so anxious to get back home! Everyone is different. Just stay true to yourself ❤️❤️❤️
You guys had me laughing throughout this video…totally relate! Keep in mind any extra culture you would learn going afar will only have you appreciate your home and your Appalachian roots all the more. You are sitting on a gold mine already with your fresh mountain scented air, fresh homegrown food, clean well water, the evening quietness long lost elsewhere, lack of light pollution so you can gaze at even more stars, and the love of an incredible family with high moral values and tasty popsicles! Then you go and add a joyful Olive into the mix and a place where even slugs choose to live their lives. Keep up what y’all are doing! You are continuing to bless so many doing these videos to expand others’ cultural knowledge of your locale, when you think about it. We’ll keep praying for Miss Cindy and for your strength to see her through her earth’s journey. 💝

You two would make excellent comedians!! Was born and raised in the south, had the previledge to see many parts of the world. This was enjoyable, but it made me more aware of my life, family and our great country!!
We’re retired now, live in Canada and have friends, family and neighbours all around us who travel (all types of travel). We have airline passes on a major airline as my husband was an airline pilot and we have travelled a fair bit. However, we have come to the realization that we don’t like travelling anymore. Fun “travel” for us is now camping in our small trailer with our dog, away from many people. I love our little home and puttering about. It’s a blessing that we both feel the same way as spouses and it’s freeing to admit it. Thank you for discussing this subject.
Home bird myself, planes are not good for Asthmatics. No no! Day trips now. 🥰🇬🇧
Y’all! I think we are related! I can 100%relate to everything y’all feel about traveling! I just got back from traveling and I was scared to go but so glad I did, it was well worth the effort to go venture! And now I want to go back where I was! Seeing new things, appreciating the experiences travel teaches us is worth it - including noises and arguments outside your window (for 40 minutes in another language!) when trying to sleep at night, oh the things we go through traveling when we're stuck sleeping somewhere! The rest of the trip made up for even that fiasco! God be with you in your travels as He has been with me so faithfully.

It gets easier & more fun once u do it more often & become comfortable with what to expect & what comes next!
I can relate. Nice to hear from similar souls lol! I'm not a travel person. I wish I was. I see some benefit it in, but nope, not me. I fear heights and crowds so that makes an airport scary to me.
I am from WNC and I feel the same way about traveling 😀
I'm just like y'all now once I get there I have fun but if I had my choice Id stay home and have fun at my home ! I have never been on a plane my whole life, and I am 68 years old. I don`t even like to go into town unless I have to, I just send my wife, or sometimes if I go with her I will wait in the car for her (sometimes I get ordered to go with her (" happy wife happy life")
I hate traveling too. I get so stressed that I get physically sick. My stomach gets messed up and I get horrible nightmares. There's traffic and crowds everywhere you go.
Traveling does broaden your horizons. Katie...you were so excited going out west. Maybe just need a place with great rocks or that interests you. 😮❤
Hello! Melissa here from Ohio. Love your videos and just wanted to say I get the anxiety level of traveling. Been to the Atlanta airport before and it was overwhelming. I love to travel, but I also get anxiety, so I get it. Keep up the great videos!
My grandmother, born and raised in southern Illinois only left the state once in her 92 years of life, and that was to Texas to get married in the middle of WWII.

Wow ❤️
I don't mind staying to myself, and not going anywhere, its so peaceful.
You have said all that is in my own heart. I want to be home in my own bed at night. I don’t care if everyone else loves to travel, do new things, see the world famous monuments. I applaud whoever does it. I have anxiety about crowded places, unfamiliar faces and roads. Just thinking about the stress associated with getting from point “A” to point “B” makes me hyperventilate. I enjoy being back home in East Tennessee but I don’t enjoy going there. The older I get the more I dread the trip even though it’s less than 200 miles. I know people who love going on cruises and any kind of organized sightseeing trips. Not me. Send me a card from wherever you are. I’ll look at your pictures and listen to your stories and be duly amazed. But I’ll wait for you right here on my back porch. If I could magically get where I’d like to be, I’d probably be helping your mom and dad in the garden and have a popsicle. Then I’d go sit on the porch and talk to Granny for a while because she and I are from the same generation. You and your family are like family to me and watching your videos are vacation enough for me.
This is so timely for me. I love going on trips *when I can* but I feel like most of my friends live to travel and frown on people who don't as much as they do. It's become a way of bragging and showing financial status by going places and posting about it online. And, it's exhausting! My grandmother spent virtually her entire life in Virginia. She may have gone to New Jersey at some point, but I'm not sure. But she was a wonderful woman who gave my family so much joy and happiness, and she seemed truly happy most of her life. I always think of her when people put so much weight on travel. There is not a thing wrong with loving your home and wanting to spend time there.

I don't travel. I like to stay home. There's comfort in familiarity.
LMBO!! "Lock it and Glock it" I'm using that!! As I've gotten older I happy "in my playground", my home! But y'all are such smart young ladies. Some people don't like staying at home and I think that's a shame. Make your home a haven.
It's so nice to hear from girls close to my own age who do not like traveling! I have traveled some, but always can't wait for it to be over and get back home haha. I've always felt like such a weirdo. 😆
With you 💯, there's no place like home 😊
I'm with you! I love just being at home. I like getting together with friends, etc but I feel most comfortable at home.
Totally understandable. I love being home, but I also love going new places and seeing new things. It feeds some sort of curiosity I have inside me. I’d really encourage you to visit Europe at least once. As others have said, it’s magical. I’ve visited England, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and some Eastern European countries. The Provence area of southern France is my favorite. Go to Nice (pronounced Neece) France. Walk on narrow cobblestone streets and enjoy fresh squeezed orange juice, fresh croissants, and the most beautiful beaches. You will love it. ❤
