My husband and I watched you when you last did the NEC and I told you (from the audience) just how great we think you are - and you are. You are not full of flash, trying to sell products to get money in, no big boobs flashing for click bate! Integrity is what you are made of - it is your core - you come across as a lovely, genuine man with a honest love of caravans and motorhomes. We will always follow you and shame on those that talk about giving you work and then putting you on radio silence. The Outer Hebrides will be waiting for you - but family is clearly important in your life - and we look forward to future updates. Continue to be the professional that you are - that is why we love you. 💜🧡

Your story resonates with my situation back in 2018. I retired early to spend time with my mum who had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. I’m glad I did and have never regretted it, the precious time and memories I had with her before she passed will stay with me for the rest of my days.

Hi Andrew. Several years ago, my wife and I were considering a holiday to the Outer Hebrides and a search on KZread introduced us to your fantastic channel. On the back of your recommendation we had a fantastic time in the Uists and literally fell in love with the place! Fast forward a year or two later and we were plunged into a pandemic. My wife was frontline in a hospital and as a teacher I was delivering parcels to our communities whilst desperately trying to learn how to teach online. Like most people we found it a miserable experience. One Sunday evening- feeling a bit isolated and nervous about the future, I watched your journey back to the Hebrides. The sense of optimism and escape that this provided was invaluable. The reason I’m rambling about this is because I want to say thank you. After watching your most recent video about leaving the Hebrides and I want to communicate our thanks and allow you to recognise that your channel has brought so much comfort even in the dark times. I know that everything will work out well for you in the end and want to wish you all the best.

As someone who also lived in the Outer Hebrides for over 3 years I emphasize with you completely. My reasons for leaving were pretty similar to yours. My family stay in the Central Belt of Scotland and I moved back to be closer to them. It's been a difficult adjustment to make though. Having to lock my house and car. No neighbourly chats in the local shop. Traffic lights. Road rage. My GP not really knowing who I am. No same day GP appointments. I could go on. Being with my family is a blessing, but a part of me will always belong to my Eilean Mo Chridh. Wishing you every success for the future.

Sad news Andrew, and I feel your pain. We relocated from Portsmouth to The Isle of Skye in 2010 and made it work for seven years, but ultimately the distance between us and aging parents, plus the challenges of making a living there , plus I found the regular travelling utterly demoralising to the point I could no longer face the 693 miles. All the best for the new phase of your life, family comes first, and I’m sure you will find quality work or employment very easily.

I always find it incredibly sad leaving the Hebrides even after a week's holiday, so can only imagine how you must feel having to leave your lovely home. Not everyone gets it but I've always felt strongly drawn to the islands, their sense of community and their barren, unspoiled beauty and peace ever since first visiting twenty years ago. Nowhere on earth I'd rather be if I could, but like you family must come first. Really appreciate your work and look forward to following future adventures.

Very sorry to hear of your troubles, the worst part of social media and the online community is laid bare, makes us all vulnerable in a way that we wouldnt normally be. Family is everything, you are doing the right thing. They will appreciate seeing more of you (and Dougal and Ted!), and that will be fulfilling. You can visit the Hebridees as a tourist again, whenever, so all is not lost. The silver lining is you will be able to travel the continent more easily from Kent. We have so enjoyed your videos, that we now have an Activ 422, you have inspired the next generation of caravanners! It was lovely to bump into you in Uist last year! Amazing coincidence!

Andrew, I've been a subscriber to your channel for many years. You were a major influence on our decision to get into caravanning some years ago, which we have never regretted, and you helped us massively, to find our way through layouts, budgets and numerous other considerations with confidence. I still look forward to your films and love your no nonsense, fiercely independent, balanced style of reviewing and the realistic view of caravanning that you always offer. I particularly enjoy the way you like to show us the social side of caravanning, the reunions, the making of new friends, the shared times together. I remember you posting that joyous vlog "Dreams DO come true" in 2020, when you travelled to Uist and picked up the keys to your home there, and I've just re-watched it with a lump in my throat that I can't get rid of. That was such a happy moment, and I'm desperately sad for you that this dream has not worked out as you had hoped. In putting your family ahead, perhaps, of personal considerations, you are doing what all of us know in our hearts we should do, but many would not. That is admirable, and I wish you well in the next chapter of your life with your two loving and faithful companions. I really hope you can find a way to keep making these wonderful films for us.

So sorry that you are having to leave the Hebrides and return to Kent, but you are right, family have to come first. When I moved to Gloucestershire from London in 2002 I had to move my mother with me as she was beginning to exhibit the early symptoms of dementia. She actually died last year at the age of 100. It wasn’t easy but at least I was able to support her through the last 20 years of her life. I’m sure your mother and brother will appreciate what you have chosen to do. Best wishes, Andrew.

Since then me and my family have had countless wonderful holidays in our van. It strikes me that the leisure touring industry actually owe a lot to you. I don’t always comment Andrew, but I always watch and ‘like’ your videos. I am so sorry you are leaving your beautiful home but I fully understand your reasons. It’s very lovely to hear how much you love your Mum and brother. I am very close to my brother too so I can appreciate everything you say. Sadly Mum died just over a year ago so I am sure you will cherish your time with your mum and brother. It will be a wrench leaving your beautiful home but you will enjoy being closer to family. Scotland will always be there for you. Take care. Hope you keep making videos wherever you are. X

Oh Andrew you must feel sad leaving your beautiful home but family is so important and when they become sick or elderly you realise even more so how precious time is with them. I'm sure you'll return to the Highlands with your caravan and see it all with new eyes. Us caravaners are so lucky we can literally pitch our home wherever we like so we can have sea views, riverside homes or relax among the trees. Currently sitting in our lovely caravan overlooking the sea at New England Bay, it's only for a week but after being ill myself recently I appreciate it so much. Keep the videos coming when you can. I'm sure Dougal and Ted will be happy wherever you take them.🐕🐶

What a beautiful home you have there! It is hard to leave a home, I have moved 23 times so I can relate. One of the things you will be taking with you is the ability to make places into a home. I have seen it with all the caravans you showed us and it very much shows in this tour. I am certain your next place will become a home too. Thank you for your videos I have never seen anything but open transparency on this channel.

So sorry about your sad news . We absolutely adore the Hebrides and can imagine what a wrench it will be to leave 😢we often dream about living there too ( especially in this crazy world we live in now ) but so many things get in the way to stop us doing it ! Family and work and finances are the main reasons .It’s great that you’ve had the chance to live in your lovely home there and as always are such a kind and thoughtful person and feel you should move back home to be with your mum and brother and can totally understand that. Wish you all the luck in the world and your family and 2 beautiful dogs . Hope you manage to keep on doing the great vlogs and still are able to visit Scotland when you can . We feel your pain 😩. All the best Andrew x❤

Must be heartbreaking to leave there, when you fell so in love with the place. But you have to be very proud of yourself for having the strength to follow your dreams in the first place. Remember you can always visit Uist again as a tourist. You should feel blessed your family are closer as a result of some terrible circumstances. Hopefully life back down south will treat you, and the dogs and your family kindly.

Best wishes for a good outcome, Andrew. I have an inkling of how much Scotland means to you in terms of place, language and the island culture through your videos over the years. I still miss Wales after leaving at the age of twelve when my parents had to move to England for work, but that great sense of place, people and culture always remained. Maybe the island mindset and sense of community will stay with you in some way…

Absolutely gutted for you Andrew! I remember watching your video of your move to North Uist, realising your dream, and it was so inspring and well edited. I've long time been a lover of Scotland and would love to someday make the move myself, but like yourself, the ties of family prevent me from doing so right now. It's also been a joy to see Dougal and Ted featuring. As for integrity, I don't think anyone can fault that! I would say that your production values and skills have also steadily increased. But if I can be permitted to make one small observation? I got into your channel as a result of a love of the trips across Scotland and your adventures in the Hebrides, however, I kind of got lost with the caravan shows and reviews. Would it have been worth maintaining focus on both, whilst not necessarily compromising, by creating two separate channels, each devoted to that particular aspect, so one for caravans, one for Scotland? I have nowhere near as many subscribers or views on any of my videos on my youtube channels (both of which are very fledgling channels), but I felt early on that I needed to keep a focus on the aim of each channel, and as such, split them up. I don't mean in any way to criticise, but as a keen subscriber to your channel, I wonder if this may have helped? Regardless, best wishes for your future endeavours, and I am sure that in time you will be back doing what you love.
