If it was in America, they would have expected him to abide by the policy, so why shouldn’t it be the same anywhere else for Michael Dell. That staff was carrying out her duty and should be praised 🎉

Depends on the status of the individual. Probably happens in America as well.

Wow, you clearly don't know how the world works!! US has customer first policy, it's literally in their culture. So most likely if it was a bigger hotel with available occupancy then, they probably would have offered a regular customer a late checkout!! What's the point of being arrogant in a Service industry!! 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

So, people should bend rules for VIPs. This feudal thought process IS the problem. Not that receptionist who is just doing his/her job.

Blah blah blahblah. Michael Dell came and stayed with his 20 members team. Nobody hassled. Nobody did bargaining. All upfront cost was paid for. Most probably they booked the highest rated suites. They ate at the resturant. Most probably also booked their conference rooms. People aren't equal. Michael Dell is Michael Dell. You cannot even buy the top end Dell products. Two lives aren't of the same value. Apart from the law... Nothing else should be equally applied. Society will always treat special people with special hospitality. And ordinary people with ordinary speciality. Zara ka T shirt, aur Sale me uthai T shirt dono ko tu ek samjhata hai kya? Same. Michael Dell ki value tere value se bahut jada hai uss hotel k liye. Its NOT ABOUT SPECIAL TREATMENT. it's about what you can get in return for the special treatment. Rules are for ordinary people like you and me. Who will book a 5 star maybe once year. Michael Dell owns the company. His executives travel around India. Booking 100s of 5 star rooms daily across India. If Oberoi gives good service and special Treatement of Michael Dell, maybe Dell will automatically book their rooms and maybe cut a corporate deal with them. This is not fedual mindset. This is called Buisness mindset.

Ofcourse. It’s hotel policy, not law. Hotels bend backwards to accommodate VIPs. Loosing their recurring business is much more costlier than small perks you can throw around.

Whether he's Michael Dell or whosoever, why should any Hotel change its policy? If you don't like, you are free to book another hotel? If an Indian goes to America, does he/she not comply with their country policies or laws? Are exceptions made there?

You are right. But you cannot be a humanitarian if you run a business. Imagine the future business the oberoi group would be losing in the future. Even worse they are giving that business to other hotels. Hotels are all about experience.

By saying this in social media , the hotel man insulted Dell. If the Dell himself sees this video, he might never ask for a half-day extended stay at any hotel in the future.
