If it wasn't for Vietnam then Cambodia might still be under the Khmer Rouge. Hats off to Vietnam for being able to beat France, then America, push China back across the border then put an end to the Khmer Rouge. A simply amazing feat of willpower and endurance.

I think it's a generational thing. Younger people are much less likely to have these traits (although they've got it to an extent too). The older the generation of the person in Vietnam, the more the non-stop hustling becomes a thing. It can get exhausting.

My Viet parents were born in Cambodia but they had to escape back to vn because of ethnic cleansing in Cambodia. I firsthand experienced racism while living in Cambodia for 3 months when i was 10 before moving to America (i’m 43 now). In Vn people don’t try to physically hurt cambodians but in cambodia if they know you’re viet they will give you the dirty looks and seem like they want to physical harm you.

Very bold topic. I know men who are treated like ATMs and the sad thing is they dont even see the transactional aspect of the relationship. I think the delusion on the male side is it protects their ego to think they are loved for being them - rather than the financial stability that the man offers. At first the truth is depressing, but if you accept and choose to take it or leave, you'll be a lot happier

Troy, I have wondered if a Vietnamese girl (or some Viet people) did something bad to you, and you are letting out in your videos. Perhaps you need healing and forgiveness (forgiving something or someone or situations). You know how Asian people are when we have guests. We always give the guests the best of everything: rooms, beds, food, our energy, etc. Perhaps the foreigners are like the guests, and people put out more energy to greet and welcome them. Cambodians and Viet Kieu, we don't look like guests, so we don't get special treatments.

Where there is gold, there will be miners regardless of location whether it be Alaska or Australia. Gold can be mined in many ways, including donations or making KZread videos. Nothing wrong with the methods used, just what the gold/money is used for or where goes will determine the respectabiliity of the effort.

It is not just greed driving Vietnamese families .The demand for gas and electricity is rising. The cost of education is rising as is housing. Economic shifts are affecting how families live day-to-day. Long term: the population is aging. Declining birth rates are increasing. This is also happening in Japan, South Korea, and China. Vietnam is in transition. This is a world-wide event. Just ask the people running small stands. They feel there pressure of rising costs and shrinking incomes.

I think Viets have changed due to being a more developed country. They were the same way with France controling things. It is more a western view. Wealth representing success. But Vietnam also does remarkable things for the under priveledged like orphans getting computer training and children learning small business management early on. It is funny since Covid many other countries are learning the value of self employment. The richest will learn that $ isn't everything.

I hope your channel hasn't turned into an anti-Vietnam/Vietnamese channel. It used to portray the beautiful Spirit of Vietnam and its people by allowing viewers to see the heart warming stories of Ling, Duong Hoa, Ngan, etc. I discovered your channel during Covid but have not been able to watch much lately, so I can't say for sure if the videos are heading toward this direction. I did start noticing an anti-Vietnamese sentiment, but I thought I was imagining it. Now, there is clear evidence. Did you know that the homeless people in Southern Cal love going to Little Saigon in Westminster because the Vietnamese community in America always looks after them and gives to them generously. They are the poorest of the poor, with all skin colors, black, brown, white, etc., and no Vietnamese people have ever treated them with disrespect. Based on these people (the homeless)'s own testimonials, they love coming to Little Saigon because they are treated with respect and generosity. Your characterization of Vietnamese people really breaks my heart. There are many Vietnamese people who aren't racist and do not care what country someone comes from. There are classist and racist people everywhere. Why generalized and made this about your own people? You are Vietnamese too. Are you like that as well? This video is divisive. Our world is already divisive, and videos like these only bring people down.

@@christhachk I have thanked Troy many times for his work. Putting a photo of Asian women with the title: Vietnamese are such Gold Diggers puts down every Vietnamese woman in the world. Gold diggers are people who form relationships with others to extract money from them. The video didn't feature anyone like that. And I am Vietnamese, and I don't know any Vietnamese gold diggers. I married my husband when he was very poor (much poorer than I was). That's why the generalization that Vietnamese are gold diggers didn't sit well with me.

well to be fair, you`re doing charity work in Cambodia which is great for them also you`re a fluent English speaker of course they are gonna treat you nice regardless plus they are also on camera man, most Vietnamese don't hate Cambodian hence the big population of Khmer deep south also Khmer hold high position in the goverment. it's just the ones that you talk to and it doesn't represent all of the Vietnamese`s POV. The "xe om" is a dying breed because everyone knows they rip people off but the majority of the time they will match the price on Grab or whatever app you're using. It's like saying few Indian scammers equal to Indians are greedy. Also ripping tourist off happen everywhere that have a tourist attraction, it happened even in the West doesn't make the whole West greedy. I don't know what Vietnam did to you but you seem a bit sour about Vietnam recently. One thing I have to agree that is Vietnamese people sometimes treat Westerners a bit better than the locals but I`m sure that is just the business aspect of it, westerner generally are more wealthy than the locals, you treat them nice they tell everyone to come to visit thus bring more money to the economy because at the end of the day, you use the money to put food on the table not being "pure heart".
