We are so unreasonably sensitive now it drives me bananas. The following are real things that exist in the world today. Racism, murder, rape, misogyny, transphobia, genocide, war crimes, and modern slavery. Those are things that should offend you. You should have a problem with those things. This doesn't even register. We've become so PC that things that no reasonable person should be angry about are considered "divisive." I am going to comment before even watching this video and knowing the story. Dolly Parton, like Johnny Cash RIP, is an authentic entertainer and human being. Her modesty and down-to-earth nature have always captivated me. She was born poor and deserves all the success that she has achieved. I will stand behind her confident that whatever the little controversy is she is way above it and will always do the right thing.

Just have one tiny question. How many award ceremonies over the last decade did our gifted presenters call President Obama hateful and awful names like the afore mentioned? And what if two actors flanked an Obama fan between them when they said he President Obama was a bigot, or whatever they chose to call him.etc etc. Listen, It does Not disturb me in the least that Lily and Jane name-called our President on the airways. That's why I LOVE our country. We have the right to have any opinion we choose, even if he/she is the President. Therefore if we want to sling insults at anyone, we can. We can even Peacefully Demonstrate against, politicians, pastors, policemen, white people, Asian people, short people, actresses, plumbers, dog catchers, black people. Foreighners, firemen, pilots etc. And if it is done peacefully, it is our right. But......if Lily or Jane had left there and started burning down buildings, looting buisinesses etc. They have then broken the law and should be wearing prison orange for a while. Dolly Parton is aware of this, and is capable of having friends whom she disagrees with. Now, I hear they are going after this beautiful, talented, generous woman because of what she chooses to show in Dollywood? Seriously? See, some people think the law only applies to whomever has a different opinion.

President Trump is forcing everyone to be political.. famous people also have opinions.. sorry.. they are citizens too.. actually they have more of a right to say something when they are in the spotlight. Right now, we have to speak out... Getting triggered about everything isn't helpful.. celebrities can be pro Trump too... No one stopping them.

Sure hope none of those mouthing off were recipients of Dolly's great gesture after the fires in Tennessee. I mean if you really want to protest- return Dolly's money!!

Dolly Parton is a liberal and always has been. Dollywood even has an LGBT day. I love Dolly.

I don't think people understand that "The Emmy's" is an award show made for television. So actors can stand on stage, talk to their peers and present awards to their fellow actors, producers and directors that they admire. They have the right to say what they like during the ceremony, it's their ceremony. It's not made for the people watching at home, it's only presented to them, so they can run advertisements during the commercials, which will pay for the event. If you don't like what the "liberal" actors say, don't watch the ceremony.

Dolly Parton was with her co-stars. She has never said anything against Trump, she wishes everyone well. Lay off her.

Tomlin and Fonda were originally scheduled to present together, and then, because Dolly was also there, they decided, last-minute, to have the thee of them in a "9 to 5" reunion, so it's actually very likely that Jane and Lily planed their Trump routine beforehand, and Dolly wasn't aware. She was visibly surprised at Tomlin's comment (it's clearly visible on her face), and actually tried to diffuse Tomlin's comment by saying, "I think Lily was talking about Mr. Hart.." (character in the "9 to 5" film), and then turned the situation in an opportunity to pay tribute to Dabney Coleman, the actor who played him (and also make it clear that Tomlin was only speaking for herself). Anyone who even casually follows Dolly Parton knows that she has never gets into party politics (she's never even disclosed whether she's registered as a Democrat or a Republican), and has never stated whom she's voted for; denouncing a sitting President on an awards show is something she simply wouldn't do.

I'm sorry, but this shows just how out of touch Trump supporters are. Dolly just stands there, because she was in a movie with those two AGES ago, and so many Trump supporters have to throw hate at her. Can't you people just live and let live?

What makes the Trump supporters think Dolly is a republican ? Because she is from the south and sings country music? I don't know Dolly's political views are but just because she's a southerner doesn't mean she can't be a democratic.

I voted Trump and love 9-5 and this didn't offend me and don't see why it would offend anyone else. I have friends who voted for Clinton and I'm big enough to accept their feelings on a situation as Dolly did here. Trump supporters take the high road.

Hearing constant Trump bashing on these award shows is offensive to a lot of people (over 60 million). Just because you "don't see why it should offend anyone else" doesn't mean anything - why should you speak for "anyone else". There's no reason to be upset at Dolly though - her expressions showed she didn't agree with the other women.

She was put in an awkward position because she knows a lot of country fans are Trump fans. She has always remained neutral politically.

I find it interesting that Trump wasn't mentioned by name or position but the people being offended all instantly knew who it was about just by the description ...

Trump says whatever he wants about someone else, and his supporters don't seem to mind; but another person is out of line if they criticize Trump in any way.

Most of the civilized world accepts political difference, they oppose it of course, but we dont condemn people for their political beliefs (except in extremiss). You are after all american and written in your constitution are words like 'freedom' and 'liberty'.....so act like it! Comedians take the piss out of everyone, every where, so what.
