    NC has always been like that.I had apportion plates 20 years ago, long before I went over the road.on a 2000 F350.

    Great advise from a Pro, good video with important content to think about. I am going for professionally printed stickers on the windows myself. They always look sharp. I saw a video on another channel where some goofball had his name and numbers written with a fat Sharpie marker on plain white paper!!! Looked stupid and makes all Hotshot pros look dumb. Unbelievable! Anyway, thanks again for this simple but Pro tip video.

    Food for thought bud, we have to run apportion plates in NC just because of the weight of the truck. Not being used for comercial work. Just personal truck. I know all states have different rules. It’s more about the DOT & MC #.

    Why would you need aportion plates only in the state of North Carolina when you don’t have a motor carrier number they’re issued to motor carriers to transport freight across state lines?

    DOT officers told me differently. They said the FMCSA rules are specially for a Big truck or a straight truck. They are no rules for a pickup truck. They said DOT officers use there discretion when it comes to pickup trucks. They know it has a dual purpose. They told me when your unlaiden(no load) we can remove the magnets and run on PC mode. There is no rule how long you can stay on PC mode or miles. He also said however you must pull in all scales. If approached by a DOT officers, show them your PC status and inform them your not currently on duty. They can't inspect you or detain you on PC mode when you off duty. I agree with magnets falling off and getting a fine for not knowing you lost one.

    @@therealtruckingguy to a certain degree. For example, all sleeper birth rules apply to Big trucks. There is nothing addressing pick up trucks. There is no FMSCA rule stating you can't sleep in your truck. You must log off duty not sleeper birth option unless you have a certified DOT sleeper. Last month I took my 26 foot boat to the lake using my F550 with magnets removed. Apportion tags, IFTA sticker and truck number still in place. No magnets on. I pulled in the scale DOT came out the both and ask if my boat was laden. I said no sir its my personal. He said carry on and have a good time. This was in Virginia. Why do think restrictions of 5th wheel and air brakes and manual transmission are inplace when you test with a pick up and gooseneck . There 2 totally different commercial vehicles and have grey areas that apply. My friend can't have a semi park at his HOA neighborhood, but he is allowed to have his F450. Both are registered commercial vehicles.

    @@fritzduval wrong it’s treated just like a semi if you use sleeper birth you must have a dot approved sleeper and you dont thats why u use off duty

    city and state is not needed it is optional .... I drive a semi and looked into this because I live in Laredo Texas and they would pull you over just because your out of a border town and look for drugs so I looked into this and found out you do not have to have city and state.
