I inherited a Cartier watch from my grandad. Simple, elegant, and striking to the eye. I never wear it nowadays because of thieves. That and I want to hand it down to my future children one day.

Hello Phil, great design. Thanks for posting this. Do you know why there are two distinct design dials in terms of the number 4 and how it is represented in Roman numerals: that is, as a IV in one design and as a IIII in another one. Which one was the original designed by your ancestor. My understanding is that the one displayed as IIII is from 1991 but I have no idea. Could you please enlighten me? Thanks very much
