    Seems like it's working pretty well for you. It's almost like the body should have included a built-in flash like seems to be less common than it used to be. 😕 You can adjust flash exposure level via ISO and aperture but not so much with shutter speed as the electronic flash burst is sort of fixed at a very short duration (shutter speeds slower than x-sync will allow increasing amounts of ambient light allowing the more distant background to show more and the image in general less flashy.

    Looks like they took the Olympus FL-LM1/2 (A tiny flash for the Olympus E-M5 as it lacks an built in flash) and made it universal! Although they should copy Olympus' hotshoe locking system from the FL-LM1/2 to secure it in place.

    Thanks for the review. Me likey! Would a piece of gaffer tape prevent L'il Flashy from jumping ship?

  • @HR-wd6cw
    @HR-wd6cwАй бұрын

    I wonder if a little piece of tape on the back of the flash near where it mounts to the body will help "fix" the flash falling off (a small piece of gaffer's tape maybe). It might also be a good thing it doesn't lock down as I have seen flashes get stuck in hotshoes or break off, etc). If you need the flash a bit higher to clear lenses you can buy flash extension rods which raise the flash higher up (although this does add to the bulk of the overall setup). I mean something like this for $50 is almost a no-brainer for the times when you just need a bit more light in your scene and is great for those camras that don't include built-in flashes (like some of the higher-end ML cameras). And for the $50 you could probably pick up a few of these for the same price as even a cheap manual (full-sized) hotshoe flash)

    Nice review! (and great photos!). Good news, reflx labs is now also selling a 2x aaa battery flash not as tiny but not far off. Its a bit taller so less problem with longer lenses (less), can select 1/2 power AND it can be screwed down to the hot shoe. I've got both and very happy with them!

On a tripod it’ll just make the background have the same exposure as the thing exposed by flash. @@thatfellarosto I thought it was the other way around - that old flashes will fry newer cameras. (Unfortunately, I've not seen a cutoff date or data supplied or information about when a standard might have been formalised, but it stands to reason since old flashes send 100s of volts through the hotshoe as they are activated by completing the circuit to the bulb directly, and modern cameras probably just have a transistor instead of a contactor or similar that would likely be able to cope with more voltage).
