The clicking noise you’re referring to is the camera refreshing the screen. Think of the old LCD tvs that you couldn’t leave on a certain screen for prolonged periods of time as it will burn the image on the screen.

It really is amazing that folks can now get into thermal imaging at such a low price. I remember when you could not get in the game for under $11,000.00. It certainly does speak to the lack of forward technology with decreasing prices in the NV (PVS-14 market). That being said, if there’s a unit an available that’s close in price, I’d save for a higher refresh rate. A 25hz RR is pretty dang laggy. I’d I were a new buyer, 60hz would be my minimum. Great presentation

Thanks for the comment and for sharing your feedback! Sounds like a higher refresh rate would definitely be a worthwhile upgrade to consider. I'll have to keep an eye out for the next step up, hopefully 60Hz like you mentioned. @@DavidSchwartzjr ATN Thor series has come a long way. I’m going to invest in the Thor 5. The 3-12 @320x240 seems to be the way to go. As to handheld, I got in on the Odin monocular 3-12 when it was on sale for $850. Again, it blows my mind that the PVS-14, is skyrocketing in price, yet thermal imaging that was easily $10k and beyond can be had for $1,000 and under.

Hard to say if it's better overall. I would say there are some advantages and disadvantages they each have over the other. Main thing for me would be the external build quality and materials. That seems to be where the biggest difference is. For some it may be the photo only capability of the Mileseey vs video option of the AGM (I don't use mine for recording so that isn't a big deal personally). I think with discounts if you can get the mileseey for less that's probably the better deal, but if budget is the main factor, then the AGM sounds like the best price.

No, this one can only be mounted to a tripod or stationary position. The field of view is too narrow for short distance usage or CQB
