Why there will NEVER be a "DBD Killer" - Dead by Daylight

    Corrections: It seems that VHS was forced to change their name due to them trying to trademark the term VHS. The Friday 13th lawsuit was even more complicated than what I said. Miller tried to use a copyright law to get his creations back and it was actually Cunningham who sued him to keep those rights. ➤ Twitch: www.twitch.tv/Liuss (Monday & Friday @ 7PM CT) ➤ Twitter: twitter.com/Liuss_Ink ➤ Insta: instagram.com/liuss_ink/ ➤ Discord Server: discord.com/invite/R8JHEq3 ➤ Main Channel: www.youtube.com/@Liuss

    F13 The Game is so tragic, it was an extremely popular game that was keeping up with DBD and was an amazing source of competition/friendly rivalry. They were able to do so well even when DBD was getting more licensed killers like Myers, Bubba, and Krueger, and they were able to fight them with the entirety of the Jason Voorhees IP. It's so sad how the lawsuit not only ruined any chance of the playerbase at that time to get Jason X or any new major updates, but it also killed any possibility of getting a new movie, which is so unfair as Chucky, Myers, Ghostface, and Bubba all got new installments, with the only two big guns being left out were Jason and Freddy. Not only was the movie IP essentially dead, they also killed off the game's community, and it's sad because I was actively in the F13 and DBD communities at the time, and just imagining the devs having to watch their game die is so sad and unfair, as it wasn't their fault that it died, but two men who couldn't agree on what was theirs or not.

Myers got two new hit movies, Ghostface got two new hit movies, Bubba is getting a super hyped game, Chucky has a stable tv show, and Jason is at least rumored to be getting a Camp Lake tv show, but where does that leaves Freddy? I also just remembered that Bubba has had 5 movies since 2000, Candyman got a sequel, Pinhead got so many shitty sequels and then a decent reboot, so the only "Major" slasher icon that hasn't gotten a new movie/game is Freddy, which is incredibly unfair to Wes Craven, as the last movie that his character was in was so horrible and nothing like his original character.

    Maybe something more like "Campfire Tending" chapters. These chapters could deal mostly with balancing and cleaning/tightening up the shops and bloated item pools. This could also tie in with lore. The Entity as it is now seems much greater than it may have one point been. The Entity at it's core seems to be negative emotion, darkness, chaos incarnate. At some point, I'd wager The Entity gained the ability to feed on positive emotions such as hope from a being that it was once very similar to. This broken Anti-Entity (for lack of a better term) is likely stuck in service of The Entity because it can no longer feed on it's own and is probably responsible for bringing back those killed in the trials. The campfires literally the last physical manifestation of this broken, subdued Entity and is metaphorically fed by the survivors while literally being drip fed by The Entity. This could also explain the void, a once lush bright realm now left as hollow as it's one time warden. The Entity would have no use for it's upkeep but would find the devastated realm a nice dumping ground for it's used up playthings.

    TF2 has been begging for anything worthwhile for literal years Warframe players fought with the old Creative Director for the game's entire lifespan for balance, fixes, QoL, you name it. Only changed recently when he moved to another project and they promoted the old Community Director to the role. (We went from someone we generally liked but disagreed with the player base on a fundamental level about much of the game, especially QoL, to probably the most beloved figure in the community who wanted a lot of the same things we did. It's been a really good ~2 years.) Total War: Warhammer 3 has needed a bugfix and balance sweep for it's entire 2 year lifespan. (game 3 is a merger of the entire trilogy, there are a lot of issues that arose from porting the older content) Stellaris had massive QoL and balance issues before they literally brought in a second devteam to focus entirely on maintaining older content. Those are just the ones I'm personally familiar with. Unfortunately this is a very common issue for games that have this kind of content/update structure.

    I think one thing DBD had going for it that other games in its genre don't is simplicity. Almost all the other games in this genre have either multiple win conditions or one win condition that is far more complex than DBD's. Meanwhile, Anyone can hop into Dead By Daylight, pick one of the base Killers or Survivors and instantly have their goal AND power communicated to them naturally. It's part of what makes the licensed chapters work so well, that any fan of the license will be able to get a cursory handle on the game and play their license without an hour of tutorials.

  • @taragnor

    @taragnor

    11 ай бұрын

    Yep. It's the fact that the game is so simple to initially pick up. There's complexity layered on with each different killer having different powers, but the basic "do the gens, open the door" gameplay is something anyone can jump into. I watch the new Texas Chainsaw Massacre game and there's just so much to it. The gameplay itself seems overwhelming to pick up at first. If you don't have map knowledge you'd be utterly useless in that game. Even F13 as I recall had some weird mechanic where you had to either fix the phone box with a randomly hidden part, or you had to repair a car to drive away. It just ends up being excessive complexity. Where as most of DBD does all it can to show you what you should be doing. Gens make a lot of noise while being repaired drawing survivors and killers to them, hooked survivors show up on the survivor hud, so they know they can go help them. Killers always know where the gens are, etc. Even if it's your first time playing a map, you can pretty easily find something useful to do.

Unfortunately, there were many bugs and balancing issues, along with long periods of time with no content. It literally took months to get 1 new character and outfits. Aside from it's issues, evil dead was a very fun game, working together for the objectives and looking out for teammates who got possessed. It's a shame to see evil dead die out so quickly, but I had fun whenever I did play the game.

    I loved Evil Dead the game. I put a ton of hours into it, and I wanna make three other points about what effected it for the long term. One was that there was a lack of content. There was a good chunk of time between when new things coming out, especially for Demon. The prices for everything were also really high- the Season Pass was 30 USD but barely had any content in it. There was also the issue of the progression system causing a huge disparity between players. The progression system meant that any new Demon or Survivor was bound to get rolled because they just couldn't keep up. There was also some issues with the meta being stale. Characters like Pablo or Amanda never quite found their footing, and characters like ED1 Ash were left in the dust while characters like Cheryl never saw competition.

    F13 was the only one that stood a chance because it’s the only one that released early enough. From what I remember playing it years ago, it was a genuinely fun game with a lot of different objectives. VHS never stood a chance because it was too late to take any players away. There’s too many characters, cosmetics, people have already sunken thousands of hours into DBD, and just hyping a game up to be a “blank killer” just means that it’s going to fail immediately. Not to mention, the people who are interested in this type of game already play it. It’s the Smash Bros effect, essentially. If you make a game for a demographic that already plays something similar, they likely won’t switch over.

    IMO the real issue is that in DBD the killers basically define the game and choosing a certain killer in and of itself completely changes how a game goes and a round progresses. In a game like VHS, the monsters had some variance but ultimately the different powers weren't different enough to really make it interesting. In making a layout with 3 powers that have to fall into specific categories, you loose so much space to work with. And the monsters didn't really feel as powerful as the killers in dbd do.

    The death of VHS was really tragic for me. I've clocked over 3.7k hours in Dead by Daylight at this point; no other asymmetrical game pulled my interest away from DBD like VHS did. The fights were strategic and nuanced at the higher levels, and every action taken by both sides felt like it had a huge impact on the outcome of the game. Dollmaster was a truly unique monster, possibly one of the best designed monsters in any asym game to date. It truly is a shame that the game was doomed to fail, as gameplay wise, it really showed the most promise as the game to rival the king. It was just all of the logistical issues surrounding the game and creating content for the game that ultimately killed it. What pains me the most is that after the game gets shut down, it won't even be available for players to host their own games via peer to peer, so the game will truly never blossom into the experience I was hoping for it to be.

  • @kanyonwilson3223

    @kanyonwilson3223

    What killed VHS IMO is the lack of accepting feedback from monster players. We had dozens of monster players offer ideas to fix the games issue, like removing stun and slow mechanics on both sides, changing the end game [I Win] circle. And such. VHS is would have been much more fun for Monster players if they had completely removed stuns and slowdown from the game, while increasing the monster health but removing the monsters ability to regenerate from attacks. One Example is the Werewolf, it was fun and had a good chase mechanic, but it was too reliant on the unfun roar mechanic that removed the survivors abilities to fight, but you couldn't not use it because you would lose instantly if you didn't. The stun and slowdown mechanics were so bad on Monster and Survivor it became even more unfun depending on which perks and monster you chose, with the hand immediately on the survivors side. As a monster you could get slowed by a single sword swing, and they would have a dozen more to slow you down again, and they would slow you until your armor decayed in some cases, or slowed you so another person could finish you off. IMO the stuns and movement slowdown is what seriously killed off the game.

  • @kanyonwilson3223

    @kanyonwilson3223

    Doll Master suffered the same issue as well, as most of the match you would spend just hiding and playing getaway from the survivors instead of chasing and such. On the Doll Master side you would slowly lose tokens, removing your power. On the survivor side they would have to craft dozens of weapons just to destroy a doll or finally find the Doll Master and him instantly be on the other side of the map.

  • @luderezeus

    @luderezeus

    11 ай бұрын

    @@kanyonwilson3223 feel like for Doll Master it was fine, he was designed to hide away in the depths of the map and puppeteer. But for monsters like Werewolf, the core gameplay caused “aggressive” plays to be severely punished. I wish stigmas were a health bar and not an “all or nothing” mechanic. This would allow survivors to have more movement while using weapons, and make the monster not as scared from taking a bit of damage. This would make it so 1 teen with a weapon can do a bit of damage, but they are by no means a match for the monster on their own as the monster will just dodge and weave to have to tank as little damage as possible before getting the hit. And when the teens are fully stacked it wouldn’t create this boring stalemate, it would just mean the teens have more potential to deal more damage to the monster whenever he attacks, even across multiple stigmas depending on the weapons they are rocking. With this gameplay loop they could even give the monster an ability to heal a limited amount of stigma health per match, and maybe even a the ability to get a little bit of one lost stigma back. ( like the teens book of the dead mechanic ) I think they should just leaned into making it a faster paced deathmatch game. This gameplay loop could have also opened the door to new possible teen weapons, and killers being more unique by not being forever to each have abilities that do generally the same thing. (Movement/Attack/Locating) Sorry that this is pretty much me dumping my VHS redesign idea here, but I am very passionate for this game and honest to God, if the possibility arises one day where the rights to this game are available for purchase, I would definitely be interested in bringing this game back with a new coat of paint. It even made changes which bhvr adopted into DBD such as icons for current actions lol. We do have a few other games to look forward to, like TCM, and there are a few possible underdogs as well: Carnival Hunt which was just kickstarted and should launch late this year and consoles soon after, and killer klowns, among others. I personally think the horror asym ip is too saturated by dbd to support these games long term, so I'm hoping we see some unique deathmatch styled asyms which pace more like evolved int he future, while retaining some simplicity.

    I think one overlooked aspect as to why DbD keeps going and these other ones eventually fade away, is the on the surface simplicity of DbD. There is added complexity by the perks, but on the surface, as a survivor you know exactly what to do. You fix the generators, and open the exit gate. As the Killer, you try and find the survivors, and hook them. Those other games all try and add a dozen different objectives. And nothing against them for that, they're trying to innovate the genre and add interesting elements. But i think it all becomes a bit overwhelming for new players. The DbD tutorial can be explained in like, 2 minutes. And for every potential hurdle for new players, there's a perk to help you out. If you're bad at skill checks, use Feng. If you're nervous about needing healing, use Claudette. If you think gens take too long, use Dwight. If you're not great at chases, use Kate. They all have perks that are great for beginners, but then can easily be replaced later once you're more experienced. The other games don't really do that as well for new players.

    Identity V is the only competition that DBD has that’s stayed here for long, Idv is having its 5th year anniversary (Na/Eu 5th anniversary, sense the game came out in China first they already had their 5th anniversary but because of that we get two anniversary events which is nice) I woudnt look over Idv just because it’s advertised as a mobile game you can still play it on pc Because of censorship laws in China dbd can’t be played in China so netease (company who made Idv) asked if they could make a game similar to dbd. Dbd agreed and helped out with coding IDV is F2P and it’s not P2W it’s actually P2L cuz the way Idv makes money is from cosmetics and cosmetics are kinda bright so you will probably get spotted. You can get all characters for free just by playing for a bit and every day we get a free character on a trial for that day. Idv is slightly different from dbd but plays the same way, big difference is that survivors have there own unique ability’s Killers don’t have add ons but have something called traits all killers can use the same traits Traits are just a secondary small ability with a lengthy cool down Instead of perks we have a skill tree, the skill tree is like a snowflake starting at the middle and the most powerful skill is at the end of each side (idk how to explain but each one is at the most north south east west) You can only have 2 of the powerful skill For survivors (gonna be using dbd terms) the powerful skills are OG dead hard, adrenaline, Lithe, borrowed time. For Idv it’s like really meta to have adrenaline, like if you don’t have it people think your throwing. The reason why is because killers have a longer animation when hitting a survivor so every single survivor will do this, first instead of finishing the last generator they will prime it getting it too 99% and when they see the character icon get injured or downed they pop it and adrenaline will kick in. It’s a time waster for the killer. Borrowed time does work a bit differently then dbd BT so instead of mending you’ll just go down after 20 seconds or injured. But if everyone has BT that’s at least 60 seconds wasted (80 seconds if you get lucky and killer switches targets) Something nice about lithe and OG dead hard is that we don’t have exhaustion but we do have a lengthy cool down For killers the powerful skills are NOED, Bamboozle, Insolence (not a dbd perk) and trump card (also not a dbd perk) Reason why NOED is meta is because the way the game works is that you need 3+ kills to win and if you only kill 1 then it’s a lost, so during end game because of your slow attack animation you have something to compensate. Also cuz adrenaline is meta so it’s the only counter for it. We don’t have totems but NOED will end after 120 seconds. Insolence will give the killer there ability faster (forgot to mention earlier but killers don’t have there entire ability unlocked yet. The way they get all of there ability unlocked is by injuring survivors so think of it like nemesis tiers) Trump card will let you switch one of your traits When playing Idv I should mention that Camping and tunneling is required to win as killer, it is built into the game like the game will say which killers are better at camping. But some survivors ability’s counter camping The reason why camping and tunneling is meta is because generators get repaired faster and some survivors have ability’s that make them decode faster but are weaker in chase, for example minds eye is blind so your vision will be weird, she will vault and throw pallets slower. But she has a 20% buff when decoding and has a cane she can use every 30 ish seconds where it will show everyone the killers aura and will slow down the killer walking speed for a few seconds. Her Cane does have a directional sound so some killers will just drop who ever they’re chasing to get the minds eye sense she’s the fastest at repairing When vaulting if you get hit during the animation it’s a terror shock which is like a grab but instead the killer just insta downs you, you’ll get used to this and play around it Something I should mention before you start playing is that pallets and attacking is weird but it’s on purpose So some killers have freakishly long attack range like the weapon isn’t going to touch you but it will still count as a hit, but because of this those killers ability’s are less oppressive. On the other hand killers with really short attack range have a very oppressive ability’s The way pallets work are weird, so in dbd you keep looping till you have to drop it, but in Idv if you do that there’s a chance that the killer can hit you during the dropping animation. So when your dropping a pallet you can get hit in the middle of the animation, some characters have a faster animation so it’s harder to get a hit and others have a slower animation so it’s easier to hit them. Some killers will bait out the pallet drop so they can hit the survivor dropping it The game is considered survivor sided but only in NA/EU for Asia and Chinese servers it’s considered hunter sided so it’s just a skill issue for some Idv does have a very competitive side, ranking is horrible I hate it lmao. Ranking is way more competitive then in dbd imo. So there’s no prestige but instead we have badges, when you rank you get character points for that character you are playing, if 3+ survivors escape then it’s a win, if 3+ survivors die it’s a lost. So if your ranking as a survivor you’ll slowly start getting points for that one character. The more points you have the higher rank you get with that character on a leaderboard. If you are in the top 500 for that character you’ll get a C badge, top 300 B badge, top 100 A badge, and for the top 10 players they will have an S badge. Getting an s badge is very competitive sense we also have rank reset everyone is trying to get an S badge. I’ve gotten a B badge with a character before but I wasn’t struggling for that. My friend how ever they got an A badge with another character and is so close too S badge. They are number 12 and are fighting for that S badge. On top of ranking and badges they also have a yearly competition called COA anyone can compete as long as they make it to the top spots in COA ranking. Idv also have collaborate with different companies and games to make cosmetics. Some of the cross overs we have are Junji Ito Persona Angels of death Danganrompa Death note BSD Project Zero Promise never land Nike And much more This is how Idv makes money through cosmetics the skins are based off of B tier A tier S tier and SS tier (SS only has 2 skins lmao) skins are in a gacha and in those gacha there’s a limited S skins, unless it’s a cross over A tiers are not limited and you can unlock them later. To get a Limited S tier it’s about 250 dollars (if your wondering SS tier is not limited you can get them at anytime but it’s about 500 dollars) Other then the cosmetics the game is still F2P

    Part 2 If you are wanting to switch I’m going to list characters and comparing them Nurse,try playing as Geisha. Geisha plays a bit differently then nurse. Instead of blinking she throws butterfly’s and she can dash Towards that butterfly placed, if a survivor goes near it they pick it up then she can dash towards that survivor but if they look a her she can’t dash but it makes it so they can’t see what’s behind them and it will mess them up Death slinger/trapper, should ply as Bane. Bane can set up bear traps and unlike trapper he starts off with 2 and he doesn’t have to go out of his way to pick them up. It goes on a cool down for a little bit but you can have a lot of traps placed down, he also has a hook that he can grab survivors with and will launch the survivor towards you Dredge/spirit, should play as the new killer opera singer. Opera singer ability is that there’s shadows around each objects on the map, she can go into those shadows and move faster (survivors can see her in the shadows) every time she jumps to a new shadow she leaves a remnant like the dredge and she can teleport to that (15 second cool down) she is very fast so I think spirit mains would enjoy Knight/the twins, this first killer is only for the twins and the knight the twins do not relate to the other two killers Dream witch, dream witch has a main body and moves faster survivors can’t see her but she can’t attack survivors, she has a follower that will follower the main body and will not have a Tr she can also create leaches which will follower those survivors and she can switch to the leaches too attack the survivors, she’s a basic m1 killer but with a lot of pressure Clerk, clerk can record survivors and use those recording to her advantage, she can reverse the recording so if she records a survivor repairing she can reverse it and make the generator degrees like that, she can also have a Birds Eye view of the generators, she can record a survivor throwing a pallet then reverse it so she can hit a survivor survivor, she can also record her self but the cons of that is that it will under a 2 second delay and then she only gets one recording (when She records a survivor she gets two recording) she’s a hard killer to learn and play Hell ember, elk ember can create a copy/knight of him self and that copy will break pallets for you and go after survivors, he’s good at sandwiching survivors, he also has 2 dolls that he can teleport too and can make them move (he is a lot like the knight) Pyramid head, should play as undead, undead works weird instead of hooking survivors he can only bleed them out (don’t worry he bleeds survivors out it’s faster) he has a thing like PH ability. Instead of it injuring survivors they. Leap in the air and is stunned, he can control the with of the area he can attack in (I’m sorry I forgot what it was called lmao) if he does it twice in a Row then you do get injured. He also has a dash ability that will injure survivors This is all of the killers I can think of might add more later

    @@TheKingmetroid you're right. i'm a massive ED fan so i'll ramble for a bit here... Evil Dead the Game was something i was crazy hyped for. there's so much they could have done since they had so many of the original voices returning. they could have expanded on the canon (as loosely that term is used within the franchise), they could have caused a spike in popularity for it, they could have made a dent in the side of the behemoth that is DBD. i think that it being Epic Store exclusive for so long really shot itself in the foot -- or cut off its own hand? i've sunk only about 70 hours at most into EDtG, versus my about 600 in DBD. Evil Dead released at a time that i could sink hours into it -- it was summer and i was fresh out of high school. but it's kind of crazy difficult to do anything if you're new to the game or if you don't sink a full-time job's worth of hours into it per week. with the addition of verbal comms, it can lead to sweats being incredibly toxic to someone despite being able to see if they're new (not that being new or having tons of hours sunk in should be a deciding factor in toxicity). my biggest gripes: the rewards for the story mode kind of suck (especially considering how difficult they are, which is fine! i feel like the reward should be something else though, even if it's just an XP boost or some random cosmetic). i think there's a lack of customizability -- new game, so i can let that slide, but it's been over a year with little to no communication from the team, the only real customizations being added being screamers, and an overall disappointing amount of content. but EDtG is MASSIVE, the maps are detailed and at launch there were two, with one other one being added that is incredibly impressive to look at. i have another issue, one that doesn't matter at all to so many people but it does to me as someone who adores the franchise: there is no interpersonal lines between the characters. None. the siblings don't interact, the close friends have no quips (since Kelly and Pablo are taken season 1, same with Amanda, so it makes some sense not to mention things that happen later in the series), the father-son duo can't look out for each other in the slightest. i think it's a minor thing that would have added so much character into the game, something that DBD for a long time did not really have, and it's a minor thing that i think would have made the game more appealing. it's eerily quiet throughout most of the matches and i think that giving the VAs extra time to record lines to be said during match (like minor comments when in the same light source, quips when one gets a headshot, post-game screen where they all just kind of awkwardly walk towards the camera) would have made the game much more enjoyable. EDtG feels like an Evil Dead entry to the franchise. it feels bloody, it feels gross, but it's missing the character that gives the franchise so much heart. also, i don't think you can turn off motion blur. i can't stand not being able to turn it off. it gives me a headache and nausea hahahaha.

    Saber Interactive is the biggest problem with the game, they leave their fans in the dark 100% of the time, no community events or communication, also very slow content drops with no roadmap for the future. If any of this happened it would be in a fantastic state, but it really seems like Saber hates their fans, Evil Dead, and doesn't understand live service/assym games business models for money.

    I feel like that would have the game roll into a 9 month "season" and then a balance patch. But they already did this Wellness Patch when they did the Big rebalance addressing Call of Brine, Dead Hard and Healing. This is healthy for the game but it only delays the burnout that comes with having 1 main game that you play. I think the game is too bloated for new people to get into (grinding for perks, £12 or £20 to get the base game and then £6.00 to get DLCs along with £8 Season pass and £8 cosmetics) And then for the more experienced players they have gotten "too good" at the game and optimise the fun out of it. Competition is healthy for the consumer in theory however a splitting of player bases may cause both games to suffer as online matchmaking games live or die by the number of people queueing up to get into any given lobby. I personally want to see a game with longer ranked periods and a challenge / score ladder to try and compete on.

    @@DragonGirl2000 Short sweet version, Victor Miller, the writer of the original film, was legally able to get the rights back to his original works. He sent Sean Cunningham, the director of the original film and at the time current rights holder a notice that he wanted to have the rights back, or wanted to be compensated fairly from all the money the franchise made because of his script. Cunningham being greedy decided to sue Miller instead. The game released and was a massive success that was bringing massive amounts of money back into the franchise, merch and film sales skyrocketed. Cunningham then made Gun Media halt all content as the money the game was bringing in was money he might have to divide to Miller and not get to keep for himself. Miller has now won the court case and even won the appeal, now a new deal needs to be reached or a new reboot series needs to be started. Miller only has the right to the original film, but the problem is the franchise sequels use the material from the original film to continue the series. When it comes to the game, they never owned the rights, Cunningham just allowed them to use the license, so he technically had full control over what could be done with the game. He told Gun Media that the lawsuit would not effect them and they had no worries to make the game, but when the game blew up, he pulled the rug out from under them so he wouldn’t lose any of that money or any more money it’d make to Miller.

    Not to mention that the devs only got the license for the first movie. So yeah, not so much new content unless they can snatch licenses for the other movies in the franchise

    As for the demon thing you do realize ash is a specialist in killing demons it only makes sense that he’s be the most efficient at it and even in the show he was old and often one v 2d and won

    Well, TCM is currently spiraling hard. Which does suck, it was alot of fun for a little while. However, DBD just did their best Halloween event in a long time, got Stranger Things back and just released Chucky. So, at least thats good.

    Crazy how these licenses brought us up the game. I came in early 2018 with the Saw/Pig drop and that brought me to the game. 6 yrs and 7,000 plus hrs later and I still enjoy the game & love that new players are being brought to the game daily.

    you were doing so well and then you brought up a wellness chapter, two games I was obsessed with went down hill so fast after a game health update, dbd does that and the game will go into decline

    TCM was actually pretty great! Having multiple killers in the same match actually made the game feel less stressful in that role, but didn’t make it feel unfair for survivors with the abilities to fight back and focus on stealth. Overall, I enjoyed my time with game more than DbD, but unfortunately the lack of variety killed the game, which was quite sad.

    Yessss, thank you so much for this video. I feel like you put into words what I've been thinking and saying a lot. I've pretty much given up on DBD. Haven't played the game in years now, but I still watch a lot of videos of other people playing the game. As someone who played a lot of DBD-likes, it's really disheartening to see many of them not stand the test of time like DBD has. So much potential, but sadly they just couldn't keep a hold of enough players. Also, sad that you didn't mention Last Year: The Nightmare. Being a Discord store exclusive definitely killed its chances. Even when they had a second chance with Last Year: Afterdark, they still weren't able to make a comback, though the game is kinda back again in "maintenance" mode, with a new dev team potentially taking over, so maybe their third time will be their best. I also wanna mention two games in the genre that I've played a lot - Identity V, a so-called "DBD-clone" by a lot of people, yet has a pretty big following with the eastern crowd. Similar gameplay, yet has so much more mechanics, an actual dedicated Ranked mode, and alternative game modes like a 2v8 mode. They've had big crossover events with games like Persona 5, Danganronpas 1-3, and popular anime like Death Note, Promised Neverland, Bungo Stray Dogs, etc. - Home Sweet Home: Online. After being in beta for two years, it's finally officially released just about a month ago. I feel like it's actually got lots of potentially, specifically with how they're trying really hard with marketing and promotions. While their targeting the Thai crowd, they have a bunch of "licensed" characters in the game which they created in collaboration with other people.

    I still absolutely love Evil Dead The Game, and you can still find matches relatively fast. Id be lying though if I said it didnt have glaring issues. Developers taking absolute ages to address very large issues and to release new content along with some of the content not being liked or welcome by the community. Looking at you Splatter Royale 😒. I wish the developers cared as much as the community did, because as it is, its a good game in my opinion but it could of been so much more.

    First mistake of VHS was that survivors could fight back. Another thing was that some players were in game for MONTHS ahead of other players, so I played 3 games as killer, and got absolutely destroyed, without even really knowing what to do, so I disconnected from the last match, and never turned the game on again.
